I was a regular customer for Maxim for about 10 years, and was excited when the Apex bus line began offering service between Maxim and NYC. However, when I returned from a trip to New York, I had my mother drop my car off behind Maxim (after the grocery store had closed for the day) so it would be there when the bus dropped me off at the grocery store. However, when the bus dropped me off my car was missing, and it turned out they had had my car towed, and it cost me $114 to get it back. Considering that I was a long time customer, and that my car was towed while I was using a bus service that used their location as a pickup/dropoff location for its service, I was of course somewhat irritated by that, and tried to resolve the matter with them, but never received so much as an apology. In light of that lack of respect for a longtime and loyal customer, I have taken my business elsewhere, and now shop at Kam Sam Supermarket, which frankly, Ive been much happier with.

I dont even know where to begin. I have never consistently experienced racism as a non-Chinese person at any market except Maxim. I am always polite but they never look me in the face, look disgusted when I touch their hands while giving them my money, and have never even responded when I say thank you and have a nice day. First I thought I was crazy until I saw how politely they treated the Chinese customers. I have been there multiple times throughout the past 5 years and last time was my worst and last. Please, there are better, friendlier, Asian markets elsewhere.

Beware! Shopper of Maxim Supermarket. One day in late December, as we were boarding our car after shopping at Maxim, a Cantonese/Mandarin-speaking man in his 50s (about 5 5"), driving a Corolla, came to accuse us passionately for scratching his car. He was aggressive and confrontational. He even attempted several times to open our doors to "re-create" damages on his car. He also stood behind our car and prevented us from leaving. We had to call the police to have the situation resolved. We are irritated and annoyed.

Great store thats been here at least as long as I have (thats decades), with lots of fresh seafood and a variety of ingredients and spices. The variety and availability of spices and ingredients make it worth the trip even if it is farther than other stores. Especially if you are looking for something you might buy in quantity or cant find in other places. There is also some prepared food, cooking utensils and dishes, and another section/branch of the store with non-food import items.

Unlike Hmart or Lotte, Meixin is not the best for staples or 55 pound bags of ricw. But this place has 2 things going for it. 1)they have lots of little treasures and odd snacks and sauces that the big stores dont carry. You have to look at enery aisle but they are there. 2)the prepared food bar is great - not as good as Kam Sam, but close... Very close. The BBQ post, soy sauce duck and soup dumplings are quite good.

One of the best Chinese grocery stores in Southern Maryland. The selection and prices of fresh produce is fantastic and it caters towards Chinese cuisine. Next to the grocery store is a small department store that sells Chinese DVDs and a variety of other knick knacks. The grocery store does include a food bar that serves very good Chinese food. The one item I can not leave Maxim without is the ready-to-eat sesame noodles.

This is definitely local Chinese, mostly non-English. Lunch is a fantastic deal: $5.50 for 3 heaping entrees and a bottle of water - and its great. When you need specialty Asian items, this is also the place to come. Very friendly for Chinese as well, and people will speak English - but if you are uncomfortable being the only white person amongst Chinese folks, then... get over it because its worth coming here.

Good variety, but the prices can sometimes be a little high. Watch out - the other customers can be really aggressive during peak shopping hours or when busloads of people come into town to shop.... People plow right into you and dont hesitate to mow you down with their shopping carts. No apologies, either.

It is true that the service is not so good if you dont speak Chinese and that they are quite rude with pushing when youre shopping, but it really doesnt bother me when you have unique products you can only find here. Plus most of the small time Chinese markets that Ive been to are like this.

Store is small, food and produce is NOT fresh and sometimes moldy...and way overpriced. Plus one of the employees is so rude...he yells at you if you accidentally bump into him...even if you say sorry...he throws out a string of curses. Despicable.

Great place to shop for Asian grocery. Also, a great place for lunch special which includes a box lunch with a choice of three sides & drink.

The best thing about this place is the hot food bar on weekends. A ton of fresh, hot Chinese food + a bottle of water for a little over $5.

If they dont do something about the $10 min credit card use, theyre gonna lose to the two big chains down the street

Small Chinese supermarket. Would recommend the larger Korean supermarkets like H-Mart over this one
