Please save your money! 231 promotes their dune buggies all Christmas season and they are junk. Our kids used their money they had saved for years to buy a dune buggy from them. Within a week it wouldnt start, within 6 months the engine needed to be replaced. We were quoted $500 for the new engine and about 2 hours of labor, or about $600 total for the repair. From that we could assume that labor was about $50 per hour. Upon the work being completed we went to pick up the dune buggy and the engine was a little less than $500 - yay. But then they decided to charge us for 2.5 hours of labor and $125 PER HOUR for labor. I was directed to the owner who shows me a small form, that we never got, that states they charge $125 for a diagnostic fee. I pointed out that a diagnostic fee is different from an hourly mechanics rate and that a ridiculously exorbitant rate. She could careless, that is what they charge per hour even though their form says it is a diagnostic fee. This wasnt high tech mechanic work, this was unbolting one engine and putting on another on the outside of a dune buggy..... an $1800 dune buggy we just bought from them! I talked to their mechanics when we picked it up and even they were shocked that they charge so much for labor. I guarantee they arent getting a quarter of that in pay. 231 Farm Store likes to go on and on about buying local, but they are no better, and probably even worse, than national chain stores. 231 Farm store gouges their customers, sells subpar products and from the reaction of their mechanics they pay their employees a tiny fraction of the labor rates. Oh, and to add insult to injury....the manager refused to give us a military discount because we complained about the exorbitant labor charges. Please do not waste your money on their dune buggies and consider not shopping at 231 Farm Store - they do not take care of their existing customers. And they are doing anything for their local economy except lining the owners pockets.

So we send our Tractor mower in for a spring tune up to look at our steering column, 2 weeks go by and no news, we call no answer, twice, so we drive over to hear "thank goodness youre here can you pick your mower out for us!!!!" they had lost the identification tag to the mower... 5 weeks, $600 later they drop it off to not only hit the deck while unloading but then have it spew all its oil contents on our shed floor and spit smoke and oil at us when we try to use it. They pick it up 2 weeks later and 3 deck hits later trying to reload during pickup, they charge us an additional $165 saying the drain plug was loose and that its not their fault!!! They dont touch the drain plug during oil changes!!! But you know oil drain plugs just come loose over time... nothing to do with their incompetent employee hitting the deck during drop off twice, trying to jump it over the truck ramp to get it loose. Oh yeah and not that it was just in your care for a tune up and you should have checked all plugs, sockets and bands for looseness. Wont be giving your name out to anyone any time soon, nothing but bad customer service all round, from no one ever picking up the phone, to work never being done in a timely manner. Talk about taking their customers for a ride. I wonder if the owner knows this is how is business is run. I could have paid a good chunk, almost half for a brand new mower at this rate for what I have paid for you to repair this one and I bet this work wont last. Very dissatisfied.

I would rather drive out of my way for my homestead needs than to deal with the ladies inside. Your plan to sell chicks/ducks/turkeys should be used to drive additional sales. We didnt even know 231 existed until we saw listings for ducks. You know the demand is high for some species. When a customer comes in to buy an animal they are likely to spend more money on supplies. Sure your products cost a few dollars more but Im already there, so why not just buy it? Plus wed be supporting a small business versus a larger retailer. However, your attitudes and sales techniques have done the complete opposite. Instead of enticing the customer to come in, explore the shop, and learn more - you have driven potential business away. 231 wont even be a consideration for the ATV and landscaping materials I need in May. Thought I found a great place, however my experience left a bad taste in my mouth. P.S. The older gentleman is awesome!

Hello to the owner and employees of 231 farm center. I bought a golf cart a while ago and I was treated like a king and with very much respect from the owners daughter. Just wanted to give you a great big shout and let your customers know how wonderful you people are, and THANK YOU VERY MUCH for what you all did for me.

I was happy to see this place open and have shopped for various items to avoid a longer trip into town, even though prices are higher. Have been very disappointed in the quality of their hay -- price keeps going up while quality is poor -- even my goats find only half of the bale to be edible, leaving a pile of straw.
