I have purchased a 2004 E320 wagon from dealership about 6 hours away from MD. I was impressed to start with until the car lot, used car deal started kicking in. I left a deposit day one of talking to the service manager, a week later car still not detailed? I spoke to manager the first phone call and explained to him I didnt want to deal with a sales guy. I then was handed off to Brian Connoley, on several occasion he sent me photos and thought he was going to carry the torch. After about two weeks into the deal still no car complete ready to ship or pick up? I spoke to him on what was the hold up and what was taken so long? he explained they were busy? two weeks to get a car ready with only 9000 miles? They finally he says he was shipping paper work over night! Again no paper work? I called him around 4 he said Austin "manager" was off he needed to call him at 5ish I called because he never called me back, then he got a attitude and stated "you havent bought the car yet, you have a few more steps and he could sell the car for $3000 more than I was paying! I WILL HAVE AUSTIN CALL YOU" CLICK the phone hangs up? What a surprise from a Mercedes dealer? After a lot of the typical car lot car dealer BS. We finally get things done to where they can drive car to me the weekend before thanksgiving because we were going to drive it out of town! There drivers wrecked it on the way here. I then call the dealer to find that Austin was tied up with someone else, then was but through to another manager he asked "do you want the car or not" do what I asked? I sent you a check over a week ago the car was paid for and is mine sir but I didnt want it wrecked? I think I forgot to mention this was supposed to be a garage kept car stated by Austin and Brian. The seal around the headlights were rotted off and the tires were dry rotted. I then after so many thing were messed up on this deal, I contacted the head guy Brandon Younger. I explained to him the issues and he sounded like he was concerned about my experience? He stated he would gather information and get back to me shortly, after a day and a half I sent he a follow up e-mail and asked what he thought? then he replied he would goodwill one tire, seem to just blow me off on other issue? I then realized he was just blowing me off trying to get rid of me, he had his money so he was going to do as little as possible! Would you be mad? Remember a few things! I was told on numerous occasions things that never happened and the car was not what they described over the phone and then didnt do much to fix issues. Be careful before you buy because the head guy is like the rest of his crew! The quote I think goes like this "FISH STINK FROM HEAD DOWN" I was as nice and calm through this transaction and it did no good! The good-- I ended up after few repairs and a new set of Michelins a awesome Mercedes wagon! that my wife loves! THE BAD- dealer failed on the job! I could go on with the details but it was a raw deal and was not handled properly! Then when Mr. younger had the torch in his hand he dropped it as well.

I had been a BMW owner since 1986 and I owned my last BMW for 17 years. Mercedes had come a long way in styling, performance and reliability, and frankly had become a more appealing choice for me. I contacted Barry London about 2 years ago when I started considering make a change to Mercedes. I explained to Barry the car that I wanted to order and the timing that I was considering. Over the past two years Barry would contact me every few months to check-in and see how I was progressing toward an acquisition date in a way that was non-pressuring, and he always offered his services should I have questions during the timeframe that I had outlined. Fast forwarding to May 2014, I contacted Barry and told him I was ready to place a factory order for a 2014 CLS63 S AMG 4Matic, which had been introduced in the press earlier in 2014. This car had long been awaited, since it was going to be the first CLS model introduced with 4Matic. My timing was such that the vehicle had just become available thru the MB ordering system and MB of Hagerstown had a manufacturing slot available where we could place a custom order. Due to timing we had less than one week to finalize an order to capture the manufacturing slot for a July 2014 delivery. Thus, my car would be one of the first of its type delivered in the US. Even though some of the options were sketchy since they were so new (the first year for the "S" model, as an example), Barry was diligent and worked hard to make sure he had all the relevant facts so they could be reconciled against what information I had on the availability of options, etc. The car arrived at the Port of Baltimore on July 13, just prior to its official relase date here in the US. Barry worked daily with the MB Vehicle Proccessing Cernter (VPC) to tie down when the car could be delivered since it could not be sent to the dealer until the official release date. The car arrived at the dealer late on Saturday afternoon about closing time on August 10. Barrry took the time to snap a few photos and send them to me letting me know that the car had arrived, vs. waiting until the following week to say that the car had arrived. We scheduled delivery and everything went smoothly. I highly recommend Barry London as he always presented himself as being there to assist and not to pressure. His knowledge of the product line was excellent and his follow-thru has been outstanding. My hope is that now that I own my first Mercedes, the after the sale services will be as good as what Barry has provided for me to this point. Barry is all about educating his customers on the product and delivering on their expectations. If you are looking for a Sales Consultant that knows the products, Barry is you man.

I write reviews when Im really pleased and when Im really upset. This case Im upset. I also don’t take it lightly because I know bad reviews are tough to overcome. So I’ll put the challenge out to Mercedes to make this right and I’ll update my rating depending on the outcome. Lets start with the good. Nice loaner car, professional staff, clean facility, I know they can fix anything. But, now for the bad and the reason for this review. I bought a Mercedes Benz because I didnt want issues around mechanical systems. Im pretty reasonable so little stuff ok. But when a vehicle costs more than $60K I have certain expectations on quality. I dont know who Im more upset with, the service dept at Hagerstown Mercedes or simply Mercedes Benz quality. Heres what happened. I brought my car in for a checkup, ok $450 for a checkup is a lot, but I am willing to pay for the best, so I dont mind. I get a call saying that everything is ok, except the bearing on the front right and rear left wheels are bad. REALLY!! with only 65K miles??? Not on a top of the line German car, I thought. Well OK, I told them to fix it, I cant drive an unsafe vehicle. But should I really have to pay the full $1500 (Hagerstown Mercedes Service Dept certainly made some profit) on something that would be covered if I would have bought a KIA. Bearing shouldnt go bad on any car in 65K miles and particularly not a Mercedes Benz. So I asked if I could have the old parts, because I have a buddy who works for Timken Bearings and I wanted his opinion on why they failed. Mercedes of Hagerstown gave me the excuse that they need to dispose of the bearings properly.....Really???!! They are my parts, I bought them and now Im beginning to question if the parts were really bad. Anyway, Im not happy. Guess next time it’s a BMW or an American car. I cant buy a car that has a major malfunction is such a short time period. Very disappointed in the quality. Hagerstown Mercedes told me to call Mercedes Corp......how about you call Mercedes Corp on my behalf. That would be real customer service. Id also appreciate the work being done at cost. Im ok with paying but I dont want to be taken advantage of, particularly when I think the breakdown should never had occurred. Finally, they used to clean my car inside and out when I brought it to Pittsburgh Mercedes, where I bought it. Not at Hagerstown. Ill keep you all posted on the response I get back from Hagerstown Mercedes on my post. Bottom line, I expect better.
