After shopping here for more than 2 years, I have a completely different view than other reviewers here. Harris Teeter MARKETS itself as a high-end supermarket but its really not. Maybe I am just too picky, too spoiled. Maybe other people are just too pathetic and never see the beautiful side of the world. In my opinion, this Harris Teeter does NOT offer any higher quality items than other grocery stores. You can find everything selling at Harris Teeter in Giant, Safeway and even food lion but at a lower price. (Yes. They have their own brand called something world trade. Ive looked at the ingrdients lists few times. They are the same as their counterparts so I dont think they have higher quality)..........Just want to my 3 cents about other reviews....... ------~Their fruit section is very small. Most of the shelves are occupied by non-organic apples, oranges, and grapefruits. Yes, they also carry a small of amount of other fruits but they are not very fresh. Yes, they offers organic veggies but if you do your research you will find out that those types they offered, for example, broccoli, are not the ones you should waste $$ eating. -------~Sushi!!! I remember I bought one box of sushi from Harris Teeter during my first visit in 2009. Its edible but I was not impressed. They used too little sugar and vinegar, and used the wrong type of rice.....Orz. As a result, their sushi are not pretty and tend to fall apart easily. Stingy on the the meat too. --------~Bread! Their bread is ok if you are willing to pay $5 for one loaf. But the unpopular ones go one sale for half of the price sometimes. Sometimes, they also put a $2 off stickers on the loafs that are about to go stale. I used to buy their bread but now I make my own. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Things I personally do not like about the HT in columbia~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -------Sometimes, they have meat that are already greenish/yellowish for sale.(Seriouly!!. Location: right most meat shelf; right next to the fish counter.) They also have fruits and veg that are already blackened or moldy for sale. (Location: near the sushi bar, on a big steel shelf). Some people are not informed on how to tell the freshness of food so they buy them. But those things are not edible anymore. Harris Teeter should throw them away instead of trying to make the last little bit of money out of it. (BTW, I just saw 2 boxes of rotten meat today on the shelf, priced on sale) ----------On the other day, I saw a lady was trying to get a VIC card and the manager asked her for her drivers license. I told that lady I was very puzzled too. I was never asked for drivers license when I signed up 2 years ago. But now, if you do anything, they want to type in your drivers license info..Orz! Personally, I thinks its asking too much! ----------If you like to utilize your coupons, they have a very strict coupon policy. Once, they told me that my coupon was fradulent. I thought it was absurd because I just used it in the same store last week. Then I was told by the manager (the talk black lady) that because they are NOT the authorized retailer of some brand, they cannot accept the manufacturers coupon. Its just wierd!! So I used it in target.

I went late so it wasnt busy. The store itself was clean and presentable. However there were 2 cahiers were extremely slow. The line had begun to back up. It seems as if the cashiers were 2 teenagers with summer jobs. The one who was on the cashier was extremely slow, and he had help! There was no reason for the line to be growing. Another cashier (I believe her name was Penny) she was great. She greeted me... she was efficient... she was speedy. Well done penny! Please teach those teenagers how its done.

Save yourself the trouble, go somewhere else! It was nice in the beginning, but they have fallen off with customer service in general. The pharmacy is the worst of it all. It will take a full week to get your medication. A recent change in the software led to long line and no auto Rx refills. They will not notify you about anything even after taking your info, its left in your hands to figure out their issues. Their prices are higher than competitors also.

I do not like this Harris Teeter as well as the one in Laurel. I live in Columbia but I drive to laurel because the store is less cluttered/more open and honestly theres no comparison on service. I walked into this store and walked out bc it just doesnt have the same feel to me -- and the people are fine but not as friendly. Im very picky about grocery stores -- but shopping is tedious and i just want to have a good experience.

Personally I really like this grocery store. Its nice, clean, and convenient. The prices arent bad, if you buy whats on sale. Compared to the Safeway that was there before, the Harris Teeter is a hundred times better. My major complaints are: the store is not as nice as the rockville store, rockville is the real upscale grocery store. Also, some of the new employees see kind of rude and ghetto.

This is a great place to do your groceries. If you go with your little one it has a kids ride machine that costs only one penny featuring Harry the dragon. Food quality is good and prices are OK as well, not pricey neither cheap. The place is not over crowded like other stores, thats a big plus.

Pretty small compared to other Harris Teeters in the area. But still has most everything you expect out of a premium grocery store. Clean, well stocked, and not terribly more expensive than the standard. There are lots of checkouts open and the lines are usually short. Very low stress shopping!

It is a cross between Whole Foods & Giant. It has the quality organic food one would expect to find only Whole Foods. But it also carries the popular brands that we are traditionally used to finding at Giant. They have sales like a traditional grocery store, so you can get great deals.

This is a nice store with a good variety. As far as I know, its the only 24 hour grocery store in the Columbia area. Its also a bit pricey. Because of my work schedule, I shop after midnight. At that time, shelves are usually being stocked. Some of the stockers can be rude.

Ive only shopped there a few times but all my experiences have been excellent. Today I dropped a bag at the register that contained a gravy jar. It got over everything in the bag. The employees said no problem and went and found all the items again. Great service.

If you like Harris Teeter, then youll like this store. The staff does an excellent job and its usually well staffed. Is it as nice as a Wegmans with as many options? No. But its not nearly as expensive either. Nicer than the local Giants and Safeways.
