This business may be "local," but is neither "reliable" nor "honest" like the rest of its slogan proclaims. Do NOT recommend. In a nutshell, I was stood up three times, and my refrigerator never got fixed. Details: I contacted All Star Appliance Repair in April when my refrigerator stopped working (wasnt getting cold enough). A serviceman named Eric came out and said I needed a new part. He ordered it and returned the next day to install it. I paid or the part and the labor. This company supposedly offers a 90-day parts and labor warranty and a "100% satisfaction guarantee." Well, the fridge stopped working again (same problem) within 90 days. I contacted the company again and Eric came back that week, but by then my husband had thawed out the fridge and it seemed to be cooling again, so he didnt want to do anything at that point, and told me to call him as soon as it does it again. It did it again the next week, so he came back and said it was the same problem as before and he would get another new part and be back the next day. I was wary, because why would a brand-new part break within 90 days? I thought it must be a bigger problem causing this. I figured I would ask him when he came back to install it. Well, he did not return the next day (Saturday), and I couldnt reach anyone at the business the whole weekend. I left multiple phone messages and they were not returned. I finally got ahold of someone on Monday, and they said someone would be out that afternoon. Again, no one showed up. My husband called later, acting like he was a new client, and HIS call was returned. They told him someone would be out the next day. Eric finally came, and replaced a different part than the one originally replaced. It did not solve the problem. I called to tell him that, and he said he would call the manufacturer of the fridge and get back to me within half an hour. He didnt get back to me, so I called him at the end of the day. He said he would be back again the next day. For the third time, he did not show up, and I havent heard from him since (that was five days ago). I have again left multiple phone messages at both the companys phone numbers, and no one will return my calls. This company did NOT fix my fridge, and did NOT stand by their "100% satisfaction guarantee" or parts and labor warranty. A refund would be nice, though I would prefer to have my time back, after being stood up three times.

This was hands down the best in-home service experience I have ever had, from any company, for any issue. Our refrigerator broke on a Friday and we had a neighborhood recommended repair man fix what seemed to be a simple problem, which he emphatically believed to be a simple fan replacement. However, not 24 hours later the problem returned. The neighborhood repair man, whose company name ironically contained the words "after hours," would not did not return my call for five days. As a side note, I attempted to call him during regular business hours, as well as "after hours." After moving the contents of my freezer into the houses of my friendly Rogers Forge (Baltimore, MD) neighbors, I searched the internet for a repair company with good reviews and stumbled upon All-Star. After a massive storm and the night before THE 4TH OF JULY, I was NOT optimistic that I would receive a call back. I was even less optimistic that if someone called me back, they would be able to come out within 48 hours at the least... Here is the awesome part... I got a call back within the hour, from a friendly guy who was willing to delay dinner with his family to come help me out. Now I know he would not always be willing or able to do that, but the mere fact he would come out the night before a NATIONAL HOLIDAY seriously impressed me. I was even more impressed when he showed up... The technician was friendly and from the start you could tell he was professional and knew his stuff. He was able to within one hour handle a problem, correctly, that the previous handy man was unable to properly fix within 2+ hours. I dont want to give his price because I think he should have charged me 4x as much for the service he provided alone, but I will say it was less than half what the first handy man charged me. There is not only no question as to whether I would use this company again, but due to their professionalism I would be fine having them there alone with my size 2 hot girlfriend. For you guys out there who need the significant other out there to handle this type of thing now and then, I know that means a lot....

My Kenmore refrigerator had been showing symptoms that something was wrong for about a month, but finally lost the ability to cool yesterday. I found AllStar Appliance Repair through a Google search. Before contacting them by phone, I checked for reviews on-line. I found that every one of them was 5 out of 5 stars, with very good comments. Now, I am very skeptical about reviews that only have 5 stars, thinking that they may have just padded the reviews by friends. However, I figured that I would give them a try. After calling and speaking with Eric, he was able to diagnose the problem over the phone. I must admit that I thought that I could probably repair the frig myself, and told Eric that I may tackle it. However after researching the price of the fan motor, the estimate that Eric provided for the service call was barely over the online cost of the motor. When I called him back at 7pm, he said that he could be there around 8:30. I asked "tomorrow?", but he said he could be there “that” evening. This truly shocked and confused me. How could they show up so quickly? I have called the "Big" named service companies in the past and have always been disappointed at the service. The repairs for the Big” companies are always scheduled days in advance and their fees are very expensive. These "Big" companies have even canceled on me, on several occasions after they don’t show and I need to call to follow up. This was not the case with AllStar Appliance Repair. Eric called me when he was on the way and showed up about 8:15pm. The repair was done and he was finished before 8:30pm. Eric was friendly, and efficient in his work. The ability to pay via PayPal was an added bonus, because I did not have to worry about my payment security. I have no choice but to give 5 stars. They live up to their name, (AllStar) for prompt, courteous, and reasonably priced service. Thank you very much for such a good experience. Ray

I saw that this place had a lot of good and bad reviews, so I used them. I like that they have an online form so you dont have to talk to someone directly. Im not good on the phone. Eric came the first day on time and told me that I didnt have the right belt for my washer. My total would be $166. My first appointment was Monday morning from 8-11, and he said he would return Wednesday morning to finish the job because he had to order the belt. I told him my situation. I was having guests come in from out of town for a convention, so I needed the washer fixed that morning. Wednesday morning, I called him at 11:30 because he hadnt shown up. He told me I was next on the list and my appointment was from 9-12. That threw me for a loop. One would think that appointment times would be the same for weekdays at least. He didnt tell me there would be a change in my appointment time, only that he would be there Wednesday morning. He finally showed up at 1:30. My guest had already arrived. He apologized for his tardiness, but didnt give me any sort of discount. I didnt have time to do everything I needed to do because I was stuck at home finishing my laundry for the convention and could not run errands while I waited for him. My guest had to tag along with me during my errands which I felt bad for. I wouldnt recommend them. This guy is supposed to be the best they have according to the reviews. If I hadnt of been in such a hurry, I would have turned him away for wasting my time.
