FYI: this location used to be in the mall, but now its on Lenox, right near the BestBuy. Summary: Its about what youd expect for a corporate chain. If you just need to update glasses/contacts Rxs for a cheap price and theres nothing too complicated or really concerning health-wise, this is your place. As far as quality of service: Every receptionist Ive dealt with there, either in person or on the phone, has been pretty lazy and rude, with the exception of one. The technicians, however, are helpful and skilled at fixing or adjusting minor glasses problems. (shout out to Helen!) Doctor: The doctor I saw in November was temporary (just filling in). He was nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. He did make a mistake writing my contacts Rx (which has not changed in 4 years) and I had to fight tooth and nail with the store to have them correct it. Thankfully, one of the technicians was understanding and fixed it for me without charging me for a whole new eye exam. Prices: They are similar to other chains, but a little cheaper, especially if you go while theres a special. NOTE: the Glasses and Contacts prescriptions are SEPARATE, so you must pay for a separate exam for each. Its kind of a racket, if you ask me. Further, contacts prescriptions are limited to 1 year and they actually limit the # of boxes you can purchase so that you can only purchase a one-year supply. It forces you to get an exam every year, even if, as in my case, your Rx hasnt changed in a number of years.

I went there in May. I waited hours for an eyeglass exam, a contact lens exam and my glasses to be completed. The young man (doctor, I presume) presented my new contacts perscription, which seemingly had changed for the first time in 20 years. He recommended a "new" kind of lens for me to try. "Let us know how you like them, and if not we can switch you back to the traditional ones." I preferred the original ones, but wore what I was given until one tore. I did without lenses for some months until I went back today for replacements and hoping to switch back. I was told by this same "professional" that as "6 months" had passed and I had not come back for a "follow-up" which was never scheduled nor told to me to be required, we would have to "start all over" with another lens exam for another fee. I asked who required this and was told the "State of Maryland." I noted that we were 3 weeks shy of six months and he said "Well excuse me for being off by a couple of weeks" and still refused to either sell me the contacts nor provide me with my prescription so that I could get lenses from another source. I suspect that I could have pressed the shy of six months issue and force the "free follow-up" but I decided that I neither wanted to give them money for contacts, nor have this "doctor" examine me in any way. All in all: very unprofessional. I will never go back and will recommend against them any time I may be asked.

I really wish I would have read these reviews before getting my exam! I first went in on a Sunday and they said they were unable to confirm my benefits with my insurance company, okay understandable, it was Sunday. They then were trying extremely hard for me to just get the exam and then I could contact my insurance company for reimbursment. UM NO. So they said "okay well you can come back tomorrow and hopefully we can confirm your benefits." I went back the next day, they called and were able to verify my benefits. I had the exam, everything was fine, until it was time to pay. The contact lens exam before insurance was $78.98. I have a $20 deductible so, I was ready to pay my $20. They then told me my total was $59. I asked them how it was possible that my total was $59 when my deductible is $20. They kinda just shrugged their shoulders and said "if its wrong you can contact your insurance to get the difference back." Uhh, yeah nice try bud. I believe these people are running a scam. They take away your deductible from your total, tell you you owe the rest and then they probably bill the insurance company, like all you paid was the $20 deductible. I will NEVER do business here again!!

This place is a nightmare. They told me that they were not on the provider network for my health insurance. They were. I found this out 6 weeks later when my insurance company told me that my reimbursement check had been sent to visionworks corporate office. They filled out the coding on my reimbursement paperwork incorrectly and caused a 10 day delay in processing when the insurance company had to recode the paperwork they had filled out. I called them 2 days ago to arrange for a time to get my credit card credited and I am still waiting. I also took advantage of their buy one get one free promotion. They called me when my first pair of glasses came in but did not call when the second pair arrived. I had to call them.

Im giving 2 stars instead of 1 here because I have been involved with them over a decade and its not always horrible. But Im not going back again after this last time. Ive gone in 5x in the last few months and I have yet to get my glasses situation sorted out. Every single time, there is a problem. From damaging the glasses while tightening them to not being able to find the glasses and having to reorder to the description of a lens being different than the actuality to the 100% happiness guarantee being about the product and not getting the lesser price just in case you are happier with not having the service you originally paid for. Every time I go in, it is a lengthy procedure, even under the best of circumstances.

The employees were incapable of confirming my benefits. I went there three times and waited for over an hour every time. Finally on the last time, they were still unable to confirm my benefits so they made up an answer saying I wasnt covered in Maryland. Since I knew this was a lie they were making up because they were too stupid to get the real answer, I called the insurance company myself from my cell phone and got the answer I was looking for within 5 minutes. I then had to pass the phone to one of their employees and thats when they finally were able to confirm my vision benefits. Avoid this place if you want fast and reliable service. Only come here if you have nothing better to do for hours and hours.

This is the second time I have used Visionworks. First time there was a lot of issues, and this time is no better. After scheduling appointments online for my daughter and myself, it still took over an hour just to be seen by the doctor, then there was a two day delay on our glasses, and durning pick up they did not even take the time to fit, or adjust the glasses. So just walked in to have my glasses adjusted and was meet with " it is going to take a long time there is seven people in front of you", they did not care they did not take the time to fit them the correct way the first time. Save yourself time " which they dont care about" and the frustration go somewhere else. Not customer friendly, and rude.
