I brought my vehicle here to be serviced as I did not know of a good mechanic in the area, I thought a Honda dealer would be best for my Civic. Unfortunately, I can not recommend any one use this service department. My main concerns were the SRS and Maintenance Required lights being on, as well as, the whining sound around 50 MPH and brakes. After consulting Mike Owens, he made several recommendations (17 in total) and informed me my belts and a valve adjustment were the most "important" repairs ($882.00). He also recommended a coolant flush, despite the fact that I had one recently and tires for minor cupping in the rear ($683.75). All of my concerns were this important in comparison: 3.) Brakes, 5.) Maint. Req. 11.) SRS and 15.) Whining. The rest of the recommendations were for preventative maintenance and I take care of those at a nearby shop. I asked for the belts, valve adjust, brakes, maintenance (catalytic converter head shields) and SRS (faulty driver seat belt). I originally asked for the alternator, but quickly declined as I did not want to spend too much. A couple of hours later, I received an email from Mike saying the "alternator bolt was seized and had to be removed" and thus replaced. He then offered to do it, but would waive the labor fees and I would only have to cover the cost of the part ($386.79). I requested the part name and number, did a quick search and found the part on sale for $244.74 on Hondas own parts website. The price he quoted me was full MSRP, so I insisted he do it for the sale price and he made it possible. In the email of recommendations, Mike noted which parts were not available and would have to be done another day (5). However, after picking up my car, I noticed the SRS light was still on, it was running very rough and my radio was locked out. My biggest concern here, Mike Owens neglected to inform me that the faulty driver seat belt would not be replaced that day. I had to drive in the pouring rain with a sputtering car and faulty seat belt. If I had been informed the seat belt would not be fixed, I would have left the car there for my safety. As I work six to seven days a week, a relative called Honda of Annapolis, explained the situation and they asked him to bring the car back. It broke down on the way. The engine and power shut off on the highway, he had to be towed back to the service department. David Tennant made sure to take care of the situation as best he could. He offered a free rental, would change the oil and do the coolant flush while also repairing the break-down and catalytic issues. I finally got my car back a few days later. Its only been about a week and the brand new $607.00 belts have been squealing. They squeal when I start, they squeal when I reverse, when I accelerate, when I turn -just about any maneuver under 50 MPH. I think screeching may actually be the better word here. Not only that, but for some odd reason, they disconnected my horn. Not inside the engine, but at the steering wheel. No clue why they would feel it necessary to do that. And, if it just was a mistake or something forgotten, they obviously need to have a checklist that says: "Does the radio work? Is the horn still connected?" All in all, I am truly amazed at the total lack of concern for customer safety this Honda service department displays. Do yourself a favor and take your car somewhere else. It is not worth the $2k headache.

I guess what they say about taking your car to a dealer is exactly true. You will be overcharged. Sure it seems nice to begin with - the place is clean and efficient and has a nice waiting room with mostly courteous staff. However, none of that is worth the amount you will be overcharged. I had a problem that I suspected was with a brake rotor on my front left, and possibly both front wheels. I was hoping it would be not more than $300, but feared it could be $500. They called in the early afternoon to tell me that there was a problem with the front pads and rotors, that the brake fluid needs to be changed, that the car needs an alignment, and also that there were several other issues, a motor mount and faulty bushings. The place was very noisy so it was hard to hear what the guy was saying on the phone, but as I was listening to each fix I was keeping track of the cost, a few hundred here and a few hundred there, it was daunting, but it seemed to be about 500-700. Fine. Then they later called to say, o yea, and your calipers are frozen. That was frustrating to hear that there were more problems, but at least the guy said, you know, we have some aftermarket calipers we can put on here that are only $80 a piece, rather than the $200+ from Honda. So now, its looking like 700-900. Finally, they call me at the end of the day to say my bill is $1,700. My stomach turned, as I can barely afford that and its out of the blue. As a cherry on top, I get there and the bill is almost $1,800 - he rounded down on the phone to make it seem better. The itemized list shows that they charged $1,000 for labor. The car was being worked on for 7 hours at most - thats $142/hr. Even more than the already ridiculous $106/hr. they told me they charged after the fact. Keep in mind, almost any website I checked said the range in labor costs per hour is $60-90. Bottom line, this place will take advantage of you. Theres nothing I can do to get that money back. But I can warn everybody who reads this - do not make the same mistake I made. Take your car to an independent mechanic... shop around... ask for labor costs upfront... and as difficult and unseemly as it may be, ask the mechanic while on the phone what absolutely must be done and what can be skipped. I will never take a car to this place again, nor buy a car there, nor allow any friend or family member to go there. About the only nice thing I can say about the place was that the lady at the register was very nice and even apologetic as she saw how upset I was at this unexpected $1,800 charge. Unbelievable.

My wife & I have been owners of Toyotas & one Honda Accord. Also family members have Hondas. So the love for these vehicles is about the same! Recently my son acquired two Toyotas, my wifes Camry & my Corolla. The Corolla being a manual transmission, pretty much my next car was going to be similar. The Corolla is a nice car, after test driving the new model Corolla; I decided that I needed to go to a much bigger car. The Camry does not come with manual transmission anymore, so my next step was to take a look @ the new Honda Accord with manual transmission. A beautiful car indeed! I liked the new body style & features. My opinion is that Honda Accord & the Toyota Camry, was rated 1 & 2 in my book! Since I own both, I can say that! This next car had to be the perfect fit, with style, features & color.... I was not in a rush to get a vehicle this soon, but I told my wife! Lets go look at different vehicles, compare & learn on what was available. Main thing that I wanted was, to test drive the Accord. As I walked into Honda of Annapolis, I figured that they would not have the Accord with manual transmission!! Since these are rare. When my wife & I walked into the showroom, a gentleman said hi & smile. As I turned my head to the left, I saw a nice young gentleman; get up from his desk to greet us with a friendly smile! He said can I help you! I am Felipe Vasquez he said; we are here to check the Accords with manual transmission. He said let see what we have in stock. At this point I didnt care for the color, all I wanted was to drive one. He said he had three, so the first one he showed to us was silver, I was thinking on a modern steel color, silver was my other option, since my other car was silver. This was a color that caught my eye & the car looked beautiful! So it was the perfect setting & very tempting! Felipe was outstanding in making this process of buying a car, more @ ease! This young gentleman, is very knowledgeable, I was very impressed on how he conducted himself & very respectable. He answered all our questions. After all of process was done, I felt that I knew him all along... I would definitely recommend Felipe to my friends & family members. Or any strangers for that matter! Thank you Felipe & good luck on all your sales.....Well be in touch!! Sincerely, Pedro
