I purchased a Rossi 45/70 rifle almost 3 months ago. I paid more than $500 of my hard earned money for this gun and it was defective right out of the box. Academy said they couldnt replace it or refund my money but only send it off to the manufacturer to be fixed. Almost 3 months later and I still dont have my gun. The manufacturer just told me today that they would replace my rifle with a new one but would take another 7 business days or so. Anyway, this has been the worst experience I have EVER had in purchasing a product. So buyer beware..apparently when it comes to guns the consumers rights are thrown out the window. If its broken youll be doing a lot of waiting and get NO help or empathy from Academy Sports. Rossi/Taurus makes a horrible product and Academy Sports happily sells their crap to unsuspecting hard-working citizens.

Customer Service is poor. When I first asked a manager, I was transfered quickly. When the person on the other end heard my question, she said, "hold on.. let me get you a manager." I was transfered to a random person when I asked for a manager... I stayed on hold for about 3 minutes until the phone looped back to the main line. I asked for a manger again and I waited for another 2 minutes. An older gentlerman answered the phone and instead of answering my simple question. He kept interupting me and giving me the corporate number. He did not listen to my question and what I said when I explained what I needed. He rattled off the number again and hung up. I called the corporate number and was given a 3rd party website and phone number. Never got ahold of a live person.

They are a good sports and outdoors store. They have a big selection of fishing, hunting and camping gear. When it comes to clothes and shoes they dont care to the larger gentlemen and ladies. They rarely have a mens shirt sized over 2XL and they dont have a large selection of wide shoes. Their local sports team areas are also a bit lacking. They dont have a lot of officially licensed merchandise other than over priced t-shirts with part numbers on them. Not a bad place but I definitely believe there is room for improvement.

This store blows. The checkout lines are always wrapped all the way through to the clothing section because only one register is open. One cashier called for "back up cashiers" three separate times to no avail. Finally, another cashier opens up and everyone in the back of the line flocks to the open register in no particular order and it ends up screwing everyone standing in line. This is always the case at this academy. Poorly managed, no one cares. I will not buy another item from this academy.

Awful place, I have been there 5 times with the same result. Poor to non-existent service, mindless employees constantly stocking and restocking, no interest in customers. The fishing and hunting area is a joke for help. also the shoe department is lacking in any customer service. They have ads on the internet but when you get there they do not honor the ads.Any positive reviews must be from employees or management. I do not know how they stay in business. Typical big box mistake.

My visit was what I intended but the fact that the lady in the shoe department was Aboslutly rude . She treated us like we did something wrong to her, because were trying shoes on for an hour. She didnt offer to help, and asked us to put up shoes. When we went to put up the shoes, we did take them down, the lady commented with " you werent going to pick up the shoes were you". Then proceeded to have a crabby attitude .

Love sporting good stores. Makes me think Im about to embark on adventures & or some sporting event. All the aisles of equipment and sports gear. You can find MOST EVERYTHING here and if not here, then definitely ONLINE. I like the rewards program as well; I figure I have to get it, so why not rake in the points? Note: Check out the clearance area before leaving, always a treat. Ample parking. Friendly staff.

Academy Sports they have what you need when you need it but you will pay the price I like this place because the employees are extremely knowledgeable and very nice and help but again you will pay a price most of the time I go there to see Whatever item Im interested in in person and then I wind up ordering it online but other than that they always have sales on apparel sporting clothes and the occasional deer feed

This place is pretty good, they usually have a decent selection of everything although they can run out of shoes in the most popular sizes. The service is OK, although the staff on the floor dont usually go out of their way to help you out. They usually have a decent selection of ammunition though and it can be worth checking here for rifle ammo.

Always a good selection of good quality items. I wont get my shoes from anywhere else. The employees, for the most part, are helpful. Apparently the cashiers of the store have the hardest jobs because they are always visibly angry.

No tp. No paper towels. Only one sink works. And the stock of crap is dumb. Its like they only buy extra smalls and xxl sizes of everything. Manager should be canned and the rest of the "team" set on fire.

Staff here is very helpful, selection is great, firearms selection is good, ammo is fairly priced. Full line of running shoes (from inexpensive to shoes I wear in marathons). Great store.
