I went to this store to buy a pair of $160 running shoes and a $700 handgun. I found the shoes in my size,13, so kudos to them on that. Next, I go to the gun counter. My girlfriend was with me and shes asking me questions,asking me, but the man behind the counter had to interrupt and throw his two cents in. Strike 1. I told him a specific pistol that I was looking for because it has a very high capacity, and his response was "what are you that bad of a shot", that may be humorous but not to a customer that he has never met and is about to spend $700. Strike 2. Same man went on a rant about the best home defence weapon to my girlfriend and capped it off with "and I bet your boyfriend has a rebuttal to that". Strike 3. I wanted to pull his condescending ass over that counter and show him what a "bad shot" Army Ranger, would do to him. Oh, I discharged out of the Army last year. Dont buy a weapon from this store go to a local shop where they will treat every customer with respect.

Last week I went in to purchase a polo and they were out of stock on the extra large, so they placed the order online for me and game me a tracking number. They tell me it needs 5 business days. A week passes by and I dont get anything. I call and find out my order was canceled because the inventory was wrong. Thats not even the bad part. No one even notifies me! I needed this shirt for next week and now I have to go find one last minute!! All they can tell me is sorry. Well Im sorry that was the last time Id ever step foot in there! Be careful if you order anything you will be left in the dust waiting for it when its never going to come in.

Good things: never a long wait, good selection of ammo, knives, fishing equipment. Lifting gear lacks smaller brands like Slingshot or Rogue, no lifting shoes except nike metcon. No good lifting belts or IPF approved gear. Would like to see them get Inzer belts, Nike Romaleos, Addidas Crazypower, slingshot or Rogue sleeves. Boots: lacking Irish Setter. Otherwise good selection of cheap brands. This is my favorite store to pick up Nike lifting clothes, usually has great sales.

I went for a pair of work boots. Found them easily as the isles were clean and the boots were neatly organized in the shelf according to the displays. Upon checkout the boots rang up an incorrect price, telling the cashier she quickly got a price check and override. The clearance tag hadnt been removed so I still got the clearance price. The cashier was very helpful and very friendly.

Prices are on par with everyone else, but they claim to be lower. Customer service is horrible, if you can even find someone that will assist you, or knows anything about the store or what they sell. Little inventory of work boots, and none in my size. Ill go across the street to K-Mart, where the prices are lower and the customer service is way, way better.

They didnt sell anything cheaper than the basic and saltwater combo fishing license. For someone who just wants access to a WMA such as for getting to Honey Island, all you need is a $2.50 cane pole license. The store is well kept and the employees are helpful, though.

This store contains a wide variety of sports products. If you are looking for a certain sports product they are likely to have it, but to ensure your request is made it would be wise to call the store to see if they still have what you desire in stock.

I went in to the store with the intention of buying a firearm. I waited patiently for about 10-15 minutes to get some help.The store associate didnt say a word to me or even look my way as I stood at counter. Needless to say never coming back.

Academy is a well stocked big box store with a great selection of most items. I just wish they stocked warm weather clothing in the New Orleans area stores during winter months. Weather down here is mostly warm year-round.

very friendly staff. My only gripe is that staff members who are selling guns should know everything about the products theyre selling. "I dunno" should never be an answer to a specific question about a handgun.

Rude employees. Had an item for sale, called a head to make sure sale item was still available, and drove to get product. Once I arrived I was told "all were spoken for" and guy was holding them for his friends.

The shoe section is always unorganized. If you find something without a tag prepare to spend 5 minutes standing there because the computers up front dont have an inventory list.
