To an out of towner, at first glance there seems to be little to this shop... well in the somewhat stark interior there are echoes of decades of pleased customers. GDC is not the first incarnation of this space, but few will remember anything here before (spoiler: yoga studio). The space has changed names and owners a few times and the current management is the best it has seen.... old story .. employee buys out and runs the place better than predecessors. Granita Latte is a hidden gem on the menu.. think frozen mocha latte. yummmm. Oh and those folks in the front patio who look very comfortable may have been there 6 days a week for 2 decades.

My first impression was that it was an adorable little coffee shop, but the coffee ended up being terrible (burnt and incredibly bitter). The employees are extremely rude, I was taken aback at how poor the service was. Also, they will kick you out unless everyone in your study group purchases something. Horrible study environment--lacking in outlets and the Wi-Fi is unreliable! Youre better off going somewhere else. Oh, and you have to spend at least $5 in order to pay with credit or debit card, which is a big fat annoyance.

I really appreciate Garden District. Its wifi may be slow, and it may only have the *third* best coffee in Baton Rouge (Magpie, Highland), but the service is great, there is usually plenty of seating, its quiet, and its open both early and late. When Magpie is packed (almost always), and I dont feel like driving to campus, Garden District is always there, calling my name. Thanks, GD, for holding it down.

Clean, light, open, friendly. These were my first impressions of Garden District Coffee. My cranberry/orange muffin was fresh, moist, and piquant. My wife had a raspberry filled shortbread that was equally tasty. The medium roast coffee was just right. I noticed coffee beans being roasted in a back room. I enjoyed the portrait photos on the walls. The places just feels comfortable.

Love this place! Great coffee and delicious baked goods! The staff is super cute and friendly. I love the patio area but my only complaint is that smoking is allowed and I am allergic to smoke. Its not cool when I want to get some fresh air and I am stuck having to breathe in other peoples smoke. Otherwise, the atmosphere is lovely and its one of my favorite places to do work and study.

I order a med medium roast the employee begin to pour me the last of the old & cold bottom of of what was left of the medium roast which was not enough to fill up the cup so she went mix it the my medium roast with dark roast when I ask why is she mixing my coffee she replied because there is not enough of medium roast in a rude tone ... This place will be last choice to get my coffee.

This place has improved a lot since becoming Garden District Coffees! The atmosphere is really great and it is always busy, though never loud. The crowd seems to be a little more mature... more professors, artists, and businessmen than students. The baked goods are wonderful and the coffee is usually good. Wide selection of teas. The baristas are quick and polite.

Garden District Coffee is great! They always have fresh baked goods that are delicious, and you can get all kinds of coffee and tea. I really enjoy sitting out on the patio area, its really beautiful at night. Also, their frozen coffee drink is super yummy and super caffeinated! The staff has always been very friendly as well :) two thumbs up!

After moving from New Orleans I thought this place was like the shops back home. Maybe some fresh juices, chicory coffee, natural sweeteners other than sugar...ah perhaps. But no, none of the above and on top of that the coffee I did get was not delicious or even satisfying. I dont know of any good coffee shops in my area here in BR. Its sad :(

I dont mind buying a coffee or something for wifi usage. BUT the internet better be working. I was trying to write a paper for finals but the internet NEVER worked. I asked the barista to reset the internet many times. I dont know if she ever did, but it was really frustrating. I had to go to another spot to work on my paper.

One of my favorite coffee shops in baton rouge. The smell is fantastic as you enter the place. Service is great. Good for catching up with work in a quiet place away from work or for meeting friends.

Great coffee shop for studying and hanging out for longer periods of time. Coffee was pretty average but the baristas were friendly. I imagine itd be a popular place for college kids.

-The place has terrible parking and a staff member was rude on my first visit. Just go to Magpie Cafe or Highland.

Coffee is great. Baristas are nice. The decor inside could use a more comfortable feel. Its a bit sterile.
