The designers and architects did a terrtific job repurposing this ground floor space from a clothing to a bar / restaurant. The space is wide open with floor to ceiling glass exterior walls providing excellent views and plenty of light. I have not eaten a meal here as yet. The menu for our recent Restaurant Week looked great. Innovative ingredients, well thought out course combinations, and a reasonable price added to the appeal. What I have had is afternoon cake and coffee. The bakers do an excellent job creating tasty baked goods in addition to the various cakes I have sampled. I think there has been a different kind of cake every time I have been there. The brewed coffee is serviceable if not exceptional. I dId try a "pour-over" cup once but didnt find it to my taste. I have yet to try the bar. I have spoken to one or two of the bartenders and then seemed enthusiastic. I may have given the 5th star if I had had dinner and a cocktail.

Bad first experience. We went on a Saturday for brunch and their seating system was confusing. After seating ourselves and sitting unacknowledged by the waitresses for 10 minutes, we went to the counter to place an order. From there, they mixed up our tables, so we saw our entire order get delivered to another table. It took several tries and several minutes to get our food and drinks which were overrated and overpriced. The staff, although polite, seemed mismanaged and out of sync. There was miscommunication between employees. Very frustrating how a table gets rewarded with two free $8 drinks AND food while we wait with nothing on our table.

I like this place. Ive never been to the original Magpie but know several people who are very loyal to the place. Their coffee is very good. Their food is "different" in that they do a lot of paleo and vegan stuff in addition to more traditional cafe fare but I almost always enjoy whatever new thing I decide to try. Breakfast on Saturday is also a good time. And outdoor seating is a plus while the weather has been so great.

Vegans beware. Bad first experience. I went for breakfast since I was in town for a business trip, and saw they have a "vegan breakfast board". Well, that entailed 4 strawberries, 6 crackers, and a couple slices of avocado. Absolutely ridiculous. And $8?! Also, the staff I encountered were really rude and self absorbed. Too hip to serve.

If you are in the downtown area, this is a great place to stop in for an incredible cup of joe and a snack. The build out came out great so youll love the atmosphere and its a short walk to the Mississippi river for a stroll. Their first location is on Perkins Road and its one of my favorite places to stop for a healthy lunch.

Weird at best....over priced at worst. If this is the hipster future we are working towards, count me out. A bunch of starbucks drinking, pot smoking snowflakes with little to do in life other than protest. On the plus side the cafe and food is nice. The clientele is horrible.

They couldnt take the cheese off of the sandwich I wanted to order, because they were pre-made. I think all of the sandwiches had cheese on them, so someone with lactose intolerance is out of luck, if the wanted a sandwich.

Yaaaassss Intelligensia coffee. Im planning to get breakfast here every morning while Im in town for work. Awesome almond milk latte! A bit pricey for Baton Rouge, but reasonably priced for this San Francisco girl.

The food and coffee are good. Their cold brew is super delish! Would give 5 stars if it didnt turn into a bar setting in the evenings which is kind of awkward if you are bringing the kids by for a pastry or treats

Everything about this place is perfect. Its also a vegans dream since there arent that many dinner options in baton rouge. The food was amazing and invigorated me. Great atmosphere and happy hour too!

Great coffee! Their latte - hot or iced - is one of my favorites. Staff is super friendly and makes the effort to get to know you. Baked goods are sinfully good - dont miss their fresh scones.

Their coffee and espresso are very high quality in taste and presentation. The charcuterie board has fair quantities of each item offered and the prosciutto is savory and wonderful.

Their coffee was fantastic. But I wont sugar coat it. I found the breakfast burrito a bit wanting. However Ive had other menu items that were quite fantastic and well executed.

Hip vibe, nice space, but bland and expensive food in small portions. I had a street bowl:brown rice, black beans, some sour cream, and no seasoning

The craft cocktails are excellent and the food is very savory. I hope they expand the menu in the future. Also, happy hour is 5-7 every night!

Food, very overpriced and not for everyone and definitely not for grabbing a quick bite on the run. Ambiance and location are quite good.
