Looking to buy a $6k road bike as Ive ridden for years and was hit on Ragbrai, so just need a replacement. Decided to try Specialized instead of my current Cannondale, so came to Rasmussen. The sales lady was very friendly, very helpful - but when she asked for help from the bike fitter for a test ride, the bike fitter proceeded to be condescending both to me and the sales lady, refused to let me adjust the seat even slightly because "he knew what was best for me", and reminded me many times he was the bike fit specialist so knew what fit me best - not my years of riding and my discomfort due to seat position. Couldnt even stand his errorogance long enough to try out a bike. Sorry Rasmussen owner, this jerk cost you a $6k bike sale. Kyles Bikes here I come!

I was a little bit hesitant going in because my last experience getting my bike tuned at a different shop was not pleasant. At the other shop they actually said, "Well, theres only so much we ca n do with a department store bike.". But the gang at Rasmussens assured me they didnt care what type my bike was. They helped me determine the right tire, did the tune up and had it back to me in 24-hours - well under their time estimate. I took it out on the trail for the first time today and look forward to doing it more. Rasmussens helped restore my faith in being able to start at my comfort level without judgment.

Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are competitive and they do an excellent job of promoting local cycling events, initiatives and clubs. Their bike fit guy, Adam, is hands down the best in the area. I highly recommend getting a "Quick Fit" to make sure your bike set where it needs to be. For more serious riders, or for those who, like me, are experiencing pain in knees, ankles, etc. the full bike fit will let Adam analyze your riding in your actual ear and he can adjust your bike and gear to correct any problem areas to reduce if not eliminate your pain and discomfort.

Friendly service at first, but underlying their smiles is a condescending attitude that becomes plain rude very quickly. An okay place to buy gear. Expensive, but all bike gear is and its good to shop local. Do not use their bike repair. After two bad experiences I using them stopped completely, but recently had my bike taken in for me by someone else and not only did they botch the job completely, but were really unpleasant to deal with, refusing to acknowledge any wrongdoing and said if we were unhappy, "Well, there are other bike shops." Darn right there are.

In planning a trip to Des Moines, I had a tough time getting the latest information on trails. I wanted to know if any planned connections had actually been made between the Clive Greenbelt trail, the Neal Smith trail, and the Great Western trail. I couldnt find updated info anywhere, so I thought Id give this bike shop a call. They never answered the phone even though they were open (according to their posted hours). I kept getting an answering machine, and finally after several tries I left a message. They never called back. Pretty disappointing.

This is a great shop. A friendly staff with a great selection of products to sell. They were very patient with me when I came in 4 or 5+ times to ask questions, test ride, etc. There were a few items, for example shoes, that I wanted that they did not carry in the store. The owner ordered them and I got them at a better price than the online "mega bikestore". I would definitely stop in if you are in the market for a new bike, parts or maintenance. Thanks again Rasmussens for helping me get a new ride.

Just terrible. I walk in and the workers stare at me. After a few minutes they ask if I need any help. I tell them Im looking at entry level bikes. The man shows me two options talking very fast in confusing lingo without explaining much. After a few minutes of talking he goes, I dont think we have one big enough for your height. Proceeds to basically stare at me as if to say go away. No offer to order a larger size in. Go somewhere good like Bike World where they actually care.

At age 67, I recently started bicycle riding again after an absence of many years. Ive purchased two bikes this year from Rasmussens and couldnt be happier with service and the staff. Ive gone back several times for extras and accessories for my bikes, and have gotten very courteous and knowledgeable help every time, no matter how large or small the purchase. When I need bicycle stuff or advice, this is my bike store!

My wife and I are new to road biking and are super excited. The owner.....Greg......is super nice.....and Adam.....the "Fit" guy.....really knows his stuff. They probably get annoyed with people like me that really dont know much about cycling.....haha.....but they have been great and very helpful. I look forward to working with....and learning from these guys for years to come.

A great shop with a large selections and great service. An employee helped me with some lost hardware for my bike and answered my questions about a variety of bike headlights. I may be able to find the light for sale online (as with most things these days), but Ill be heading back to Rasmussen for the service and to make the purchase.

This is a great shop. I took a tire in and they had it repaired in minutes. A great price too. The guy I talked to in the repair area was awesome, definitely impressive amount of knowledge and friendly. Much better than the shop I was going to near Jordan Creek. I will definitely come here first from now on.

Very condescending to rude attitude from short bald older salesperson. Looking to spend 4k-5k on a bike, but due to this person I ran out of this shop and will not return. A good shop can make or break a sale. I dont know how anyone would ever buy a bike from these guys.

This is my go to shop. They have the best mechanics and most knowledgeable staff, not to mention most friendly. The service they provide to the cycling community in central Iowa goes above and beyond their closest competitor. I appreciate everything they do greatly!

I brought my bike in for a tune-up and when I was picking it up, a storm knocked out power so they werent able to run my credit card. Rasmussen allowed me to take my bike home with the promise to call back with a payment. Thats pretty cool.
