The store: Is a bit smaller than a traditional REI missing out on some of the fun displays, or things that make you think "wow thats awesome, but Id just never use it enough to buy it" for camping. What they do carry is of very good quality however, so its worth stopping in. The staff: They are incredibly friendly, and do their best to be helpful. Ive received some good advice, and Ive run into some trouble. The trouble Ive run into, I was looking for a warm lightweight jacket, and really didnt get good help or advice. It felt like they didnt know very much about the different brands. I ended up going home and doing a lot of research before purchasing an older model of an expensive brand that was on sale through a different website than REI. Ive also had a lot of trouble with my membership card. For some reason it just wont activate on their end, so for the first month I had a few purchases I will not receive credit for. These two experiences largely made me stop going here first for equipment like boots and bikes, and Ive basically never needed to come here second, so I just dont make it in anymore.

My wife and I have been doing research and trying on various backpacks for a trip to Europe, and to be used as primary travel bags in the future. We were so clueless we didnt even know what to ask. We were asked by Tim an employee if we needed help. He could tell we were stumped. He spent nearly an hour with us! Telling us what the difference in all the packs are helping us find some that were comfortable for my wife and I. Adjusting the sizes etc. We tried some on that were "ok" but Tim wasnt satisfied. He wanted the fit to be higher here, lower there, etc. We ended up finally finding the perfect pack for each of us. Havent had a retail experience like that since I dont know when. We joined the REI club and paid for it just in todays savings. Thanks REI and thanks Tim!

I stopped here about a month after it opened to look at backpacking stoves. An employee helped me who owned a couple of them and knew everything about them. He asked where my family was going and I told him northern arkansas ozarks. He had been there and he told me some about his trip and how ticks and bugs can be bad in different seasons. I took his advice and our spring break trip this year was to the arkansas ozarks, no ticks, no bugs, no bears. Just beautiful mountains, wildlife and weather. Thank you!

Used to be REIs biggest fan. Any more, not so much. Prices have gotten to the point where I just dont buy much here anymore. Sales arent quite as good as they used to be. There are a few REI stores I really like. The Seattle flagship and the quirky Grand Junction CO stores come to mind. This one? Pretty standard REI. Nothing special. Three stars.

This store is awesome and I love going into it. It feels really modern and the store is very clean and well organized. All the staff are really enthused. The suffer they have is all very high quality. For high quality merchandise, they dont have that bad of prices.

Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The selection and quality of products were amazing. I would expect nothing less from REI. There is not a local store in Omaha but West Des Moines isnt too far and the staff and store were amazing.

First timer in this store. Had to return an online order and couldnt be happier with service! My one complaint about the store is that the camping gear section (tents and camp pillows specifically) is lacking compared to other REI stores.

Beautiful store, very helpful customer service, but Im not enough of an outdoors to justify some of these very steep prices. But if youre a true outdoorsman and money is of no concern, nothing beats REI.

I love shopping at an employee owned co-op, and the staff are always knowledgeable and helpful. There is a good selection and range of prices in each department. We found exactly what we wanted.

REI is the best. One of the only places i can think of where a membership is worth getting. the employees are friendly and knowledgeable from alaska to new mexico and over to iowa.

Good place to get some outdoor gear. The clearance is nice especially during the seasonal transitions. Be prepared for the extreme push to join their coop club.
