They serve up a solid cup of brew here, but as stated elsewhere the atmosphere is just a little lacking as compared to the downtown location. Decent amount of seating and seems to be a good spot to study, though on busy days it can be tough to find a spot to sit. They do drip coffee right, barside and it seems theyve got more drip options than other Java locations. Standard, slightly more expensive coffee options ranging from froofy to benign. Pastries are good, but always cost more than you feel they should. Good place to stop if youre in the area. Nothing fancy, but solid brew for your daily fix.

I ordered an iced latte and only get it in a large size. I wanted a small. They have no such thing. The latte was sweet. Ive never had a SWEET latte before. My friend wanted iced tea. Couldnt get it. Caroline said she wasnt coming back. We got complimentary cards but I spent more money than I wanted and didnt get what I ordered. The kids were nice. Not their fault, as we made clear.

Great place to hang out with friends to chat and catch up. There is enough parking (part of a strip mall area). I wish their prices were a bit lower, or there were more specials. I would also like to see more gluten free and dairy free options for drinks and snacks. The place wonderfully smells like coffee. The cashiers and baristas are typically friendly.

Yeah the coffee is good, but the business is bad. Talk about unfriendly service. I expect some snobbery in a coffee house, but come on. Also, they treat their employers badly, if I wanted to hear the equivalent of "can I have fries with that" I would have went to McDonalds for coffee. Try Fair Grounds Coffee house instead

I love this Java House. The atmosphere is nice. It is a good place to work, study or meet up with friends. The food is pretty good but, the coffee is what does it for me. I love the specialty coffee drinks. The service is really good most of the time. I have had a couple of bad service experiences but, those are rare.

I have never been to any funeral joints that were as dead as this place. The tea was ok...I felt like I was in a library surrounded by ANTIFA yelling at me without sound. I honestly think Ive stumbled upon the most odd and strangest place in Iowa...Im really glad Im NOT suicidal because this place would be ideal!

Sat down to do some work, less than 30 minutes later I was told very bluntly - buy something or get out!!! what the ?????????????? Never in my life have I been to an establishment like this.... Have been going to this place off and on for several years, (and have spent alot of money here BTW) --NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

This place is barely heated in winter, unbelievably over air conditioned in summer. I guess Iowans are used to this because they seem not to mind taking 8 layers with them to the coffee shop and shivering inside their scarves. Not being from here, this strikes me as a horrible way to treat your clientele.

Coffee sucks. Service sucks even worse. Getting told you have to leave 30 minutes after buying a coffee is rediculous. This happened to my fiance today. She has been a customer for 10 years. The store manager at 1st Ave apparently thinks that he is someone special after obtaining his GED.

Slow drip coffee. Sometimes if you sit down and wait theyll do it SO SLOW!! Perfect cup of Joe. Dont forget to ask for a mug. Sit down and really enjoy it. Salads and soups in house at Heirloom Salad Co, on the left side of the huge room its in.

Great place to hangout and chat with friends over some great coffee! They have free WiFi as well. Ive seen people get kicked out for bringing in outside food (but that kinda makes sense because they have some food items).

A great place to get coffee on the east side of town! Great lattes, espresso or pastries. They have some very good desserts that are tough to top at any other coffee shop in the area
