Used them for an FFL for my SKS. They were afraid of the cosmoline and couldnt find the serial number. "Gun experts". Also treated me like a criminal when I came in with my wife to purchase a new Glock. Both of us have carry permits. We have many firearms and shoot a lot. We wanted a certain Glock, came in and knew what we wanted. We didnt care which one of us officially bought it. But the "gun expert" basically didnt want to sell it to us. We took our $600 and bought a Glock at another business who wanted our money. Im well aware of the legalities as to avoid Fin & Feather we have our C&R and are working on our FFL now. But the "gun expert" handled the situation like a know it all prick. We havent been back and buy our ammo elsewhere.

Came in for a gun trade on a Saturday. Agreed to a mutually beneficial trade then set off to get a handgun permit. Came in three days later, permit in hand, and requested the gun I had put on hold. I was then laughed at by a portly fellow when I told him the agreed upon trade price. Another employee confirmed I had indeed agreed on a trade. Portly fellow offered me $100 less. Disgusted by my experience and will encourage friends and family to shop elsewhere.

Decent selection of outdoor equipment, although somewhat pricey. Staff for the most part knowledgeable and courteous. Their archery range is decent, if a bit small and I think it would be a good idea for the staff to not be back there shooting at the same time as paying customers. Its crowded enough with just two customers, but when the staff come back to shoot using store merchandise its just annoying.

Walking into this place you have to understand that its going to be a little bit more expensive than cheaper places. Buy cheaper I dont mean necessarily financially less expensive, I mean crappy. Always get a really good personal experience every time I go in there . the merchandise is top notch just like their employees.

Fin & Feather is great. Tons of sporting goods supplies, canoes, tree stands, fishing gear, guns, etc. The staff is friendly. I dropped off my gun for repair, and they fixed it but forgot to call me when it was done, but thats a forgivable oversight. Iowa City is lucky to have a good quality store like this one.

Not always easy to get service. I wanted in the fishing section for help and eventually left because they stayed busy with a previous customer for so long. Im not mad at that... I just think they maybe a bit understaffed during peak hours. When you can get help, the staff is knowledgeable!

This is Iowa Citys equivalent to REI. Dont miss Fin & Feather if you are in need for literally anything outdoorsy. My girls love the slack line and stand we picked up on sale during the winter. During the summer their boathouse and its rentals on a nearby lake are super fun.

I had a gun repaired a year ago and had not used the gun since. The gun malfunctioned the same way it did a year ago. I took the gun in yesterday and they would not stand behind the repair. I will not shop at Fin and Feather again.

Some of the ammo is very pricey, but the verity of ammo they stock is unmatched! I mean, they stock 7.62 Nagant revolver rounds...that alone says A lot about their inventory!
