After visiting the town and family for memorial day my family and I stopped in to check out the store, since where we are from does not have an Academy sports. After shopping around and finding some good deals but not getting any kind of acknowledgement I did walk past one employee and said hi. She did have a name tag. Her name was Lisa, she was about 45-50 years old. After walking past I noticed her walking past me a couple times and talking of her talkie. I figured she was watching me because I am a person of color with tattoos. After making my way around back to where my family was I noticed three more employees plus Lisa walking around and still not offering and assistance. I then started to look around at other people shopping and I noticed I was not the only person with a lot of tattoos but I did notice we were the only ones that the employees were watching. Thats when I realized it wasnt because of the tattoos it was because of the race of my family and myself that were were getting watched. There was another family that was white and they had tattoos too. After feeling uncomfortable from being watched like we were shoplifters we made purchases of the few items we found. If we didnt fell like we were not welcome there we would have spent more money at this store. With the issue we had shopping at this store for the first time, we wont be back. We do not want to be treated like we are thieves and be watched the whole time shopping.

My Husband was looking at the Guns at the Terre Haute Indiana Store and was gonna send me a picture of one...well the Guy behind the counter came yelling "No pictures, you cant take Pictures in here" and my Husband said why not? Then the Guy behind the counter went all the way down to the end of the Counter and flipped a 4×6 card around that said "No Photos". Well first off it wasnt turned around where people can see it...and second there should of been a Big Sign where it could be seen and read by Everyone! So we will no longer shop at any Academy Sports again. No on needs to be treated like that for any reason!

My shopping experience was not the best. I was in the store looking for shoes for close to an hour and a half, with no associate even attempting to greet me, let alone assist me. (There were two associates in the shoe department, one of which was texting on her cell phone the majority of my visit.) After making my purchase, I decided that the shoes would not work for me, so I took them back for a return. I was treated rudely by the customer service associate. I will not be returning. We are avid outdoor people who will for sure spend their money elsewhere from now on.

This store has friendly and helpful staff that will go out of their way to make sure you get what is best for you. The fishing department will string your new pole for free and they give great advice. The prices are also much lower than some other sporting goods stores in the area.

Had a bad experience with the manager that wanted me to admit that I have done a crime. So I could not have a gun out of their store. So I went somewhere else an got approved for the same thing that he told that I was wrong for on the application process for handgun.
