Last weekend, I flew from D.C. to Indianapolis to pick up a 2017 Lexus NX 200T F Sport and then I drove it 600 miles back to my home in Northern Virginia. If it weren’t for Tom Wood Lexus, and the awesome customer service I received from Sales Consultant Corey Thingelstad, I would not have even tried to pull that off. Back in December, I was in a car accident and my five month old Lexus NX 200T F Sport was totaled. The car took the brunt of the impact and I wasn’t seriously injured. Because of that, I immediately wanted to get back into the exact same car, in the same Nebula Gray with the same black interior. I looked all around Virginia and nearby states. Each time the sales person would talk to me about a different exterior color or would suggest I give the red interior a chance because they didn’t have what I wanted on their lot. I was frustrated until I found EXACTLY what I wanted at Tom Wood Lexus in Indianapolis. Blaine Polhamus, the Digital Concierge had answered my initial online inquiry to see if they had the SUV I wanted. He forwarded me the information and a couple of days later he followed up and that’s when I decided I was done searching locally. He put me in touch with Sales Consultant Corey Thingelstad who went to work right away to make the sale happen. Within a couple of hours, he and I had exchanged several texts, he had my financing approved, he had papers drawn up and had all my questions answered. It was a whirlwind and it was just in time because that Friday was the last day the other driver’s insurance was paying for my rental car. So, I booked a flight with miles and set to leave at Noon the next day for Indy. But, the flight to get there wasn’t easy. I had a 3.5 hour delay sitting on the tarmac, but all along Corey assured me they’d be there whatever time I made it. He and his team leader Andrea had Dakota lined up to pick me up at the airport and as soon as I landed I was on my way to the dealership. Once I arrived my name was on a sign outside one of the offices and everything was in order and ready to go. It was the easiest buying experience ever. The car looked awesome. The deal went smoothly and I was even able to pick out a charity for Tom Wood Lexus to donate to for the sale of my car. Oh, and here’s the real kicker. I was using a Lexus Vehicle Special Purchase Program Certificate through a family member, so I am not even sure Corey made much of anything off my sale. But, you’d think he was making double by the way he went above and beyond to deliver. And, since my family lives close enough in Illinois to drive to Indy, they were there waiting when I arrived and were chatting it up with Corey. Again, the experience was awesome. I knew what I wanted and Corey and Tom Wood Lexus delivered. 1,200 miles round trip might seem like a long way to go for a vehicle, but the excellent customer service and the Lexus brand made it worth every mile.

We walked in the Lexus showroom on E 96th St on 30th May for the first time to book an RX 350, which my husband wanted to buy since long. We wanted delivery on 27th June (our wedding anniversary)- Salesman there agreed to all our terms, and we decided to mail him filled form soon. We met him again on 4th June to book the car, we discussed loan option with Lexus Financial and he got a document with .9 interest rate fixed. But mentioned we have to take the car as soon as it arrives because he wont be able to keep that interest rate for long. We accepted provided his professional situation. We paid advance too. On 10th Jun, he mailed and on 11th Jun he made arrangement to pick-up car despite it being a weekday of both working parents. There came series of disappointments - Our Salesman seemed to driven by his supervisor Jeremy (hope Im spelling it right) who was anything but nice. First, loan interest rate appreciated to 1.9. The reason stated that they cant give us May rate anymore. We already own a vehicle with that interest rate, had wed been told, we would have made our arrangements for a loan. Salesperson shuttled between us and his boss 3-4 times. Then he said .9 is doable if we take 48 months lease instead of 60. We declined. We already have discussed all details with him. Next, my hubby asked for the advance back because of this unwanted discussion. For once Salesman even asked for his credit card to credit back the amount. Salesman again went to see his boss and returned with a solution of dropping car price by 1K to keep the monthly amount same as of .9 rate. My husband truly loves RX 350 and we wanted to add this to our family since long, so we accepted this option because we wanted to drive it home. Finally, we met the man, Jeremy. Next shocker he gave was refusing to accept the amount break-up wed agreed with Salesman already between cheque and card. He was not even nice to our 5 yrs old son. Hes the most unpleasing sales manager wed ever come across. He ruined our entire mood of buying our new vehicle. There were just unpleasant surprises thrown our way on the day of delivery when all we wanted is to click some pics & drive it home smiling. So my dear Indy friends, in case are planning to buy a Lexus drive to Cincinnati or Chicago, avoid dealing with insensitive and unprofessional Sales Manager. So that you not only love your car but also cherish the experience of buying it.

I want to thank sales consultant Corey Thingelstad and the rest of the outstanding Tom Wood Lexus organization. I was on a hunt for a performance upgrade that matched my budget and Corey was wonderfully helpful as I cross shopped several pre-owned sports sedans. Even though he knew full well I intended to look elsewhere to be sure to get a broad sample he never pressured me - he was friendly, fun to chat with, and utterly accommodating as I sought to try this IS350, that Infiity Q-50, a GS, a 335 from elsewhere, etc. After I got all my sampling done I settled on the pre owned Q50, as Im bigger guy and didnt fit as well in a IS350 - and the purchasing process was a breeze. Again, no pressure, and Corey handled the financing and final write ups as well. The valuation of my trade was completely transparent - they showed me on line what my car was selling for as pre owned (info I already knew, so can confirm how straight they were being), built in a margin since of course they have to make money and showed me what they could offer me for my trade. No mystery to it. Loved it. And sure, Corey showed me a couple add ons and warranties but not a lick of pressure. I drove the Q50 home on Saturday... and heres where the service got even better. The car is incredible - gorgeous, amazing power, amazing handling, loaded - it was everything I thought I wanted. Turns out, I was wrong about what I wanted. Im a 49 year old guy and after driving it over the weekend well... that incredible sports suspension on 19 inch low profiles was quite a bit more firm than I thought I could handle. Young me would have loved it, but old mes bones, it turns out, couldnt take it. A bit embarrassed, I contacted Corey this morning saying I had to cancel the deal. And again, nothing but friendly accommodation as I returned the pre owned uber sports sedan and got my old car back. Being that helpful, without pressure, to buyers on the front end is great in itself. Continuing to be that helpful when a car has to be returned? Thats the sign of a sales consultant and organization that truly cares about its customers and long term relationships. Thanks! And somebody give that awesome car a home.
