I went in with a picture of a tattoo I was interested in getting, but was unsure where I wanted to get it. One option was to cover up an existing tattoo; another option was to start fresh. I was concerned about doing a cover up, because I have heard that it could make the tattoo about twice as big. I picked out a tattoo that I liked, and John stated that he thought it would do a great cover up. He was right. We BOTH wish we would have taken before-and-after pics, because he did an AMAZING job. I absolutely LOVE what he was able to accomplish! Also, when I first went in, John left me alone to look around. I did not go in with the intent of getting a tattoo that day; but just to look around. John did not pressure me either way. He did a great job of giving his input; and yet walked that fine line of not making the decision FOR me. When we sat down to apply the tattoo, he was great about letting me know that if the pain got to be too much, we could take a break for as long as I needed. (The pain was minimal, considering.) Aftercare instructions were fully explained; with written instructions to reinforce when I got home. I will be adding to this tattoo as money permits, and there is NO DOUBT that I will go back to John to have it done.

I made the decision to have my first tattoo done and did a lot of research on the web looking for the best place around Indy to go. I read all the glowing reviews of Indy Tattoo Works and decided to check out their website. I was even more impressed when I checked out the website. I and my husband went to find the shop on a Wednesday afternoon when the shop was supposed to be open to see if they could do what I was wanting done. It turned out that the shop was not open even though we were there during posted business hours. Disappointed that the shop was not open I called and left a message with my name and cell number saying I was looking to get my first tattoo and it would be a custom piece and I would like to speak with someone about what could be done for me and when. I did not receive a return phone call a couple of days later so I called the shop again trying to reach someone. Again I reached their voicemail. I left another message asking for a return call to see about an appointment. I never got a return phone call. Nothing. No response what so ever.

Made a phone call to see if I could get in and he said " I dont know, if someone else shows up ahead of you then no" LOL Made it there ahead of anyone else. Met Mr. John, super cool old school cat with lots of really neat stuff to look at in the shop. The Tattoo itself was exactly what I was looking for and couldnt have come out any better. The man is a very good tattoo artist and his pricing is out of this world, very very reasonable compared to most other shops, not really hourly so gives you a price and thats the end of it. Well worth going to, best around here I can tell you that so give Mr. John Adams a call, you wont be disappointed... Charles Martell

I went into the shop yesterday with an idea for a tattoo and Jon was absolutely awesome with helping me with the design. He didnt rush me at all and he gave me a great deal! Jon wanted to make sure all the elements of the tattoo were perfect--AND THEY WERE! The color is vivid--just what I wanted--and the design is flawless! The tattoo was in a sensitive area and Jon did his best to make me comfortable. At times I didnt even feel him doing the tattoo! His chair-side manner was also great and I was at complete ease around him. Thanks Jon!

Stopped in after google searching tattoo parlors on the west side as I recently moved to this side of town. I asked the artist how much for a nose piercing ha and he responded with the price very rudely and then said "wanna make an appointment or what" I asked what times are available and said "rings are really the best for nostril?" He responded "I just said that you didnt hear me the first time?!" I pretty much walked out after that. Cant get pierced by someone who escalates after a simple question. So much for trying a new place. :(

The shop itself is set up pretty nicely. JT is an AMAZING artist, like for real he does some great work. He is also a really nice, cool, and thoughtful person. I was extremely satisfied with all of the work he did for me. What separates him from most artists is that he really cares about what the customer wants down to every single detail. He worked on me until every detail was just right. I will continue to go back to him and I HIGHLY recommend you all do to!!!

Its crazy these clowns are still in business considering the bad work they do. I could post a picture of the botch job I received at this joint several years ago, but honestly Im too embarrassed. JT did my tat and dudes work area was just filthy - I should have walked out at that point but I didnt. Do yourself a favor; if youre going to put something on your body for the rest of your life, whatever you do dont go here. #forewarned

GREAT SHOP!! JTA knows how to tattoo the right way. He pays attention to every little detail to prove that he produces great quality pieces of art. He applies his own style to make your art more unique and overall better looking. Unlike other shops he is very concerned with the work he has done and the after care that comes along with it to make your tattoo exactly the way you want it. So worth it!!! My husband recently got a tattoo done there and it looks great. The letters after a week and a half looks almost completely healed. My husband has says he will be back for more and I plan on getting some tats done there too. Tattooer was an older, whitehaired gentleman with 30+yrs experience and shop owner, I do believe. Thank you for staying late on 6-25-15 and for making my husbands first tattoo so special!!!!

I took my wife to get a tattoo on Christmas Eve and we ended up getting two tats and two piercings. The guy did a very good job and was very professional. She got a tat on her pelvic, breast and her nipples pierced and he made sure she was comfortable, explained things to me and her and did a fantastic job. He took him time and if anyone I know whats a tat, I will refer them to him. GREAT PLACE TO DO BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!

I came here for a tattoo on my birthday. John was AMAZING! He was very prompt in returning my phone calls and setting up an appointment to come in on short notice. He was great in helping me finalize my tattoo layout and was even able to cover up an old tattoo. He was very personable and funny and made the whole process easy and worry-free. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get a tattoo!
