Loved this place until yesterday evening. First issue was that I wanted a chocolate dipped cone. The dip wasnt "working properly" so they gave me a cup with ice-cream and the chocolate dip and cone on top in a melty mess. Should have at the very least offered a discount imo. Second and most upsetting issue: Someone (who appeared to have been drinking) walked in, bypassed the line, grabbed a spoon, walked by the OWNER and back behind the counter where he proceeded to taste multiple flavors of the homemade ice-cream with the SAME spoon (ice-cream falling off the dirty/used spoon back into the rest of the ice-cream) until an employee told him he needed to get a new spoon. Our family is thoroughly disgusted with no plans to return to this location.

Our family LOVES coming here. Only downside is that the ambiance isnt awesome... strip mall, with what Id call a true old-time feel (not modern trying to look old-time). Hands down the best homemade ice cream Ive had, and they offer 50-cent miniature softserve cones for the toddlers/young kids (free if under 3 yrs!). Many of the "real" ice cream flavors are made by the owner, Hartzel (of Hartzels Ice Cream, downtown). Do not miss the Chocolate Lovers, Praline Pecan, the Raspberry, whatever they call the one that has some coffee notes mixed with the chocolate. Premium ingredients, artisan quality. Sundaes, shakes... oh man!!!! The food is just OK, more like concession food... though the pulled pork sandwich is quite good, actually.

Okay, Ive been going to this place about 3 or 4 times a month for awhile. I usually get some kind of milkshake, regular size... price $4 something. Milkshakes have always been pretty good... not the reason for my two-star rating. The reason is... on my last visit, in addition to a milkshake, I asked if I could get a small cup of ice-water.... as it was a hot day, and I was feeling a bit parched. The girl (didnt catch her name) said "sure." After paying, I realized that she had charged me 79 cents for the cup of water... wtf? Really? If thats the way it is, then Im probably done with ya jiffy treat...

We have never had a problem here until tonight. The man must have been fairly new or really just doesnt care. We ordered 2 small cyclones and a sundae and 5 other people behind us got there orders before us. And my cyclone was supposed to be a turtle cyclone and it was literally vanilla ice cream ( which I dont like just vanilla ice cream ) with 3 pieces of graham crackers and 4 or 5 pieces of chocolate. I now know why I always get ice cream on a cone...ugh

Decent ice cream, not as good as chocolate moose (the local competition). When theyre busy the line can make the small seating area uncomfortable. If theyre busy expect something to be wrong with your order. They tend to go on autopilot and make items by default

The Mud Pie cyclone is great. But for a place so frequently "out of the coffee flavoring," Id imagine they would learn to buy more coffee flavoring. Id give them 5 stars if they stayed better-stocked.

Try a cyclone! Add and mix all kinds of ice cream and toppings. Its a very small place. Only about 3-4 tables inside, but more are available outside.
