This store is the most disgusting animal store I have ever seen. The animals are kept in the most inhumane conditions I have ever imagined! When I went there this morning, there were 20 finches in a cage, and none of them were moving, because there was only enough room for them to perch. AND The mice were in DISGUSTING conditions. When I went, I looked into one of the mice cages (as large on the floor as a 20 gallon aquarium) and there seemed to be at least 20 mice in the cage. I also noticed that at the front of the cage, one of the mice was lying there dead. When I mentioned the conditions to an employee, she told me that because they "check" them "every hour" (she started to say every day, but backtracked and said every hour) that they can keep up to 30 in that cage! And she also said that they were "humane" because they clean the cages 2x/week. I also bought a can of "live mealworms" that did not have a single "live" worm in the whole container! I am going now to return the rip-off. If you care about animals, stay away from here! Now I will make the extra 10 minute drive to go to petsmart.

I had most horrible ordeal last week when my cat got sick from food poisoning. I bought canned food for cats at Petco at Brooklyn Park location, Wellness Company (Chicken and Salmon) in the packet and my cat was sick for 5 days vomiting many times every day. Veterinarian determined that it was food poisoning. I spoke with the manager of this store, explained what happened after my cat ate food from this packet, explained that I opened several remaining packets of cats food and all of them smelled very bad. The only response I received from Petco store manager was "I am sorry". No one offered to return me any money even though I showed receipt. The store manager did say what can be done in the future to prevent food poisoning when the customer buys cats food and it turns out to be rotten. He did not care that the customer paid a bill to veterinarian and was totally indifferent about the whole story. I would not recommend my friends, co-workers and any other customer who loves his/her pet to buy food at Petco store.

The store is clean and well kept. The animals are given hourly care checks. It is definitely a place where families and their pets feel welcome and "pawsitive" training methods are honored. If the trainer is on duty and not teaching classes, your questions are welcomed warmly. Wow "wildlife angel" sorry you had such an experience - all I can say is I will do my best while I am there to commit their Animals Come First philosophy. I am the new certified dog trainer at Petco Brooklyn Park and I have not seen misuse of animals or inhumane conditions and I am very particular.

Amber has apparently worked at alot of pet stores and aquariums and likely for good reason. We asked to see a small pet, the same kind my wife raised as a teenager for several years, and despite providing this info, Amber told us we were wrong in everything we said. It is safe to say that my wife and I have been turned away from Petco for good by this woman who obviously doesnt know what she is talking about. Upon leaving I told her to read one of the books that Petco sells about the animals she sells. Ok store, bad employee.

With four cats at home its impossible not to visit our local Petco at least once a week. The staff is always friendly and attentive and I rarely have issues with something I may want being out of stock. One of our cats was even a rescue from this particular store! I prefer Petco over other pet stores for their great loyalty program. I probably end up getting about $5 in coupons twice a month at our rate of needs.

Recently visited the Brooklyn Park store to pick up a kennel and the store had a overwhelming odor of dog urine. Bright idea to put pet garments on the lower shelves were they can be urinated on. Moving the shelving units and washing under them might be a good idea also. I mentioned the odor to the cashier and she didnt seem to care.

Terrible experience. Had to track down an associate to get goldfish out of the tank. Asked for specific colored-goldfish did not receive 1 of the color I asked for even though it took him about 2 minutes to even catch 1 fish (in the feeder tank with hundreds of fish). Then, I waited in line at the check-out for another 10 minutes.

Kim, an employee, was so very patient and helpful to me. I wanted a size of cat food bag that they didnt carry, so she tried to order it for me online, but I really needed to use my coupon. She checked the other locations for availability, and even gave me directions to other store.
