I used to shop at this Petco very regularly a few years ago. I decided to stop going after two very bad experiences. The first one was when I saw a mouse who was clearly having issues breathing. I told an associate, who didnt seem to care much and took him out and put him in a box. I asked what would happen to him and they said, "He will probably get fed to the snakes, thats what we usually do with the sick mice." He then walked away. Upset and surprised that he actually said that to me I considered boycotting the store, but at the time Petco had the largest variety of natural and organic food that my animals liked, so I kept shopping there. A few months later I had another similarly bad experience, if not worse. There was a dead rat in one of the cages. Just laying there with other rats walking over him and sleeping by him. Very upset by this I went and told an associate, who just said, "Ok." I couldt believe it, she wasnt even upset or worried or anything! Obviously it is not true that "Pets come first" at Petco. I then told her that I couldnt believe how she didnt seem to care or even want to go check on the rat and also that it is not acceptable to have ANY of their animals die. She then got the manager, who I repeated this to. The manager said, "Well, usually we remove them right after they die, someone must have missed this one." So, obviously this happens a lot and is no big deal to them. I then told her that I have had bad experiences there before but this time was it and I was NEVER going to shop there again! She said, "Ok, do that!" Do not shop at pet stores that sell animals! They are in it for the money, obviously not the animals or their customers! Go to Chuck & Dons!!! (New store in Blaine) They are a million times better!

Petco has usually done a good job washing my dog, however I had an unpleasant expierence this last time I took him to get washed. My dog is a german shorthair so normally he has a lot of energy (however this shouldn’t have been a problem) I had an appointment at 10:00 and usually it takes about an hour but I got a call 20 minutes later saying that the workers couldn’t kennel my dog and that they were going to be done soon. When I picked him up they charged me an extra fee because they weren’t able to kennel him which is understandable. However when I brought him home I noticed a cut on his back paw, the cut wasn’t just a normal scratch, it was a large portion of skin taken out. This has never happened before throughout all the times Ive taken him to get washed and his nails trimmed there. I also noticed that he didn’t smell any different except on his back where the hair is thicker. Every part of him smelled the same as before almost like they didn’t wash my dog (he usually comes back smelling very good with no problems at all). So because my dog had more energy than normal and they couldn’t kennel him, they did a poor job and also cut my dog. I am very disappointed and upset with Petco for the job that I paid them to do.

NEVER AGAIN!!! We moved and needed a new groomer. The groomer I dealt with here was absolutely terrible. Ive brought my Rottweiler/lab to a get the full package elsewhere many times before, its not anything brand new to him or myself. I came to pick him up and there was literally poop on his tail and back leg, I did not bring my dog here with it... Why is he walking out with it on him??? In what sort of condition did you leave him that this could possibly happen? Not all nails had been trimmed and he smelled like wet dog and not any hint of shampoo. And to add to further insult, she proceeds to tell me that I should never bring him back because he is a difficult dog. I couldnt believe it, had him 7 years and never has anyone said he was a difficult dog. Leads me to believe she was untrained, unprofessional and down right negligent. If I could rate zero stars I would.

I have gone to Petco on a few occasions since they are open later then other petstores in the area. This petco is pretty run down and not very well stocked with things. I did take advantage of a good sale they were having on fish tanks, but it took me 15 minutes to get help when I need to get a tank down. Petsmart is just across the road and is a much better store in all aspects. Update: 01.16.2013 They must have had new management come in or the store started to pay attention to reviews. i have gone in a few times and there as been a notable increase in the customer experience and the cleanliness is as it should be. Their fish selection looks a lot healthier and I actually picked up 2 angelfish from them a couple months back. They are looking great.

I got a girl guinea pig here. I had her for a day or two and found bugs on her. the pet store sold to me with mites! The took back and brought her to the vet, they said they would call me after she is done at the vet...never got a call few days went by I called them! you told me that they think one of my pets gave it to her, I DONT HAVE ANY OTHER PETS. they told me it would be a week and then she could go home... 2 weeks went by no phone call.....I got her back after and month and a half. They gave me her back and gave me a 5.00 gift card, yay! >:-| I have had her now for almost a month, I brought her to the vet to see if everything is going good and they told me she is prego and going to have her babies in about 50 days. PETCO CR FEAKIN SUCK!!!!

We get our Sheltie Skye groomed here about every 4-6 weeks. Cameo is the BEST. She takes great care for our fur baby and she always looks so pretty when shes done. I am a new-ish dog owner and had NO IDEA that you were supposed to tip your groomer (I know, I know). Cameo has requested to care for our dog every time she comes in, so we always request her. The last time we scheduled we werent able to get in with her as we needed to get in within the next few days. Cameo switched her schedule around without me knowing just so she could groom Skye. AND SHE WASNT EVEN GETTING A TIP FROM US! That is huge to me. And yes, Ill be bringing in enough for a tip to cover all of her past grooming appts when we bring her in next. So embarrassing!

Terrible experience with our 6 month old puppy! The vet there was an amature at its best, she tried twice to draw blood in the back leg & another 2 times in the front, she had 2 store workers holding her as well as my husband & still couldnt find a vein. Never the less she ended up making our puppy bleed, she was in so much distress it was awful to watch! She hadnt even got to the shots :( We couldnt stand watching her in so much pain, crying & yelping so we said "No More"! I insisted to see the manager who said he was going to fill out an incident report. We will never go back, from now on local veterinarian for our doggy. How can they hire such non qualified people?
