After waiting forever to look at a gun because there was only one person working the counter at 4:30 pm on a saturday i saw a manager and approached him. I asked if he worked here and he said yes. I asked if they had a gun and i showed him a pic and he said no we dont carry that. He then abruptly turned and began walking away. I said wait. This is on your website. He then said i will need to order it online. Again he was short and started to walk away. I then complained to him about the poor service at the gun counter and he said we are short staffed and doing the best we can. He then curtly asked me if i wanted a job. What? Did he really just say that to me? I was shocked with how rude and distastful this person is. If he treats his employees this poorly i am not surprised they are short on staff. Very poor customer service from the store manager. I would never work for this guy.

Good place for just about everything outdoors. Tons of firearm and fishing related material. As expected, firearm prices are darn near factory MSRP. Seriously? You guys are selling used and beat up Glocks for the price of new Glocks at the nearest mom and pop gun shop? Id never buy a firearm there unless I was desperate for a specific model. They have decent pricing on their fishing stuff and ammo. It is now my main store for fishing, almost bought that Abu Garcia bait caster combo the first time I went there. I just wish they had a little bit more bait. :/ Even though the staff claim to be experts, due to corporate reasons, never take anything what they say from heart (that goes for anywhere). Please do your homework before you buy that gun or fishing rod youve been looking at. All in all, a great store for everything but for buying firearms.

High cost for very limited inventory: Gander Mountain carries generally premium quality items at a premium cost. While it wouldnt hurt to be more competitive with pricing, I find myself driving an extra 45 miles past the local Avon Gander Mountain to get to Cabelas who carries the same premium items, but keeps their store thoroughly stocked. I buy Perfecta target ammo from Walmart because it is cheaper than target ammo from Gander Mountain. I buy guns from Rural King because they are cheaper than Gander Mountain. And I drive to Cabelas for everything else because Gander Mountain doesnt have near the inventory. Bottom line: Youve got nice stuff - but maintain market-commensurate prices and full capacity inventory - it will work wonders for your business model.

They have very old beat up Glocks here for 650. That`s more than the cost of a new one. You are an idiot if you pay full price for anything here not to mention the salesmen know nothing about firearms. The only reason I go here is because I have a credit card and they price match. Also they try to sale you a bogus insurance warranty for close to 80 dollars. HELLO!!!!! EVERY GUN COMES WITH A WARRANTY AND YES THE MANUFACTURER PAYS FOR SHIPPING TOO!!!! STOP TRYING TO ROB PEOPLE THAT DONT KNOW ANY BETTER!!!! I love it when the salesman here try to tell me otherwise thats usually when I just lay out the facts for them. Go here only as a last resort and make sure you price match and refuse that stupid warranty they try to sale you.

I walked into gander mountain and asked about two handguns and the man that helped me didnt know anything about gun safety, pointed the gun at me more than five times and then hands the firearm to another employee who had his finger on the end of the muzzle. Didnt have any trigger control and still pointed it in my direction towards me even after I asked him not to. It doesnt matter if its unloaded or not. I still dont appreciate have a firearms pointed at me. Any thoughtful person especially someone that works there should know gun safety.

The customer service was excellent. I went in to get some shorts and was surprised to see there were no shorts out for sale. I asked a sales associate about it and she told me they were all put up in the back, but she would be happy to get what I needed. Jackie and Nicayla went above and beyond, they made multiple trips to the storage area getting different sizes and styles for me. I couldnt be happier with their service and will continue to shop at this store. Thanks again Jackie and Nicayla, you were the best.

Its hard to find people that know what your talking about when calling. I was looking to buy a lowrance gps with down imaging and sidescan for my bass boat and was calling around checking availability/prices. It was honestly like I was asking them to solve a Chinese math problem. Someone that knows nothing about them could have done a 3 minute google search and found more info. Guns are also way over priced, look around.

After visiting Gander Mountain I must say I have one of the best experiences at a sporting goods store ever. Chuck Durnil an associate there was very informative and helpful. He informed us on ammunition types and what would work best for us. He was evening willing to stay a little past his sift to help in shopping decisions. I can guarantee that I will be returning for further sporting goods needs.

Their pricing is abysmal and their sales reps clearly have an agenda with what they want to sell you. They sow the same worn old wives tales you hear from every old timer whos been out of the loop in the gun industry for too long in an attempt to sell a expensive products of dubious value. There are several better places to go very close by that will actually worry about your needs versus theirs.

Terrible customer service. The guy working the fishing department today would not even talk to me...that was until I opened the box of a fishing reel that had obviously been opened already to check the contents prior to purchasing it. It was then that the guy turned from quiet idiot to real jerk. I spend a lot of money on outdoor equipment, but wont be spending another dollar here.

Went there looking for a M&P Shield and I walked out with a Sig. Lol Often I find myself frustrated with the reps cause their knowledge is diminutive when it comes to guns; until I met Brandon. He talked to me about subcompacts (what I wanted for my dear wife) and I had done research prior to showing up. Brandon knew his inventory well. Thanks you, Brandon!

Deleted my last review after going back to Gander today. My wife and were looking for a handgun. We were waited on by a young man named Brian. He did an excellent job in helping us find what we wanted. He also helped us get the ammo, cleaning supplies, etc. that we needed. Thanks to his superb service we walked out of there happy customers.

At a different named sporting goods store, the young man in the ammo section didnt even know the difference between 5.56 mm & .223 ammo. He tried to tell me it was two different calibers! At Gander Mountain, however, Mike B. was very familiar with brands, calibers, etc. and made my ammo purchase very pleasant and easy. Thank you, Mike B.!
