I have been a customer of Gander Mtn since they first opened in Bowling Green. I really dont want to ever know how much I have spent there over the years. I bought my first compound bow there after talking with one of the archery techs right when they first opened. He took me through each piece of the bow and explained what it did and which brands were known for what. He spent hours with me letting me shoot as many as I could so I could make the best decision when I finally bought mine. The day I bought mine he then spent as much time as he needed getting the bow setup just right for me and made sure it was zerod in. Ive bought a handful of firearms there, and the staff have always been great when I needed to ask questions about different rifle setups. They almost always have a great stock of used firearms too, I bought my first shotgun there for a hell of a price, and when I got it home and took it apart to give it a clean, I found out it had never been shot. I have bought almost all of my camo here as well. As most know, camo, especially winter weight camo, is extremely expensive. So I was very particular about mine. I waited and waited until they went on sale for a price I could stomach. I went in one day and found the Scent Blocker set I wanted was almost 70% off after the end of hunting season. I couldnt resist and I bought the set. They have a great selection of just about everything you need for your outdoor activity of choice, as well as quite a bit of indoor things. The fishing department is one that I just recently started visiting a lot more. And they typically always have exactly what I need on hand. I love this store, Ive never had a bad experience. Even when my bows cam had some issues, they made sure to get it taken care of, without me having to spend a dime.

Just got back from Gander Mountain - NO SALES. I walked in front door - asked first male employee I came to, "Do you have any short sleeved mens camo T-shirts?" "Sure," he answered me. "The mens shirts are over there." I went "over there" and wandered around looking and looking - found camo sweatshirts, camo pants......NO...mens short sleeved T-shirts. I went again to the front of the store, found a different male employee and asked him the same question. "Sure," he answered me, "but do you want them for actual hunting or just wearing." Thinking this was kind of a dumb question, I wasnt sure how to answer. Does Gander Mountain REFUSE to sell camo T-shirts if theyre just worn for everyday? I asked again and told the employee that they would probably just be worn, no big deal. "Well, he said, "follow me." He RACED to another part of the store where he showed me mens camo T-shirts BUT they were long sleeved. "Thats NOT what I asked for," continuing, "you dont have ANY short sleeve mens camo T-shirts?" "No," he FINALLY told me, "we dont." COULDNT HE HAVE TOLD ME THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE? THIS IS HOW GANDER MOUNTAIN WANTS THEIR SALES PEOPLE? Apparently your employees think customers are stupid - I think the opposite - YOUR EMPLOYEES ARE STUPID. Ill go down to Bass Pro tomorrow. Maybe Ill find something there.

Very disappointed in my visit. We went there to just look around because my girlfriend has never been. So we walked in and I got stared down by one of their employees look I was a criminal. We walked around for a few minutes in the camping section looking for a survival band. While we were there looking my sock started sliding down so I stopped and pulled my pant leg up. Reached down the back of my cowboy boot and pulled it back up. As I was starting to pull my pant leg down an employee walk by and past the aisle we were in and came back to where we were at. The same employee that stared me down before came back and stared me down and said "Can I help yall with something." I said no and after that the employee followed us around the store for at least 5 minutes watching us and going behind us looking at everything we looked or touch. So after that I wont be going back. I understand you dont want people stealing stuff but you shouldnt follow a customer around because he was fixing hes shoe. Bass Pro here I come.

Careful what you buy here. Regular supplies, youll probably be okay. Things like firearms, depth finders, etc. price compare. Knowing several people working here, with firearms they have a book in back with numbers relating to their costs vs. retail. Not everyone is aware of it and only a few get the lower price. If you walk in the store and they dont like you for whatever reason, your hat, your wife, your kids, they chat into their ear piece among each other about not dealing on anything with you. They do the same with pushing their credit card. If you look like a pushover, they are relentless. That includes management who condones and participates in these practices. Just watch your back here because Gander Mountain has their own little club and few members. Edit: Watch your back....

I was in tonight looking for camping supplies. The staff was very attentive, but it may have been that I was the only customer at the time. The camping section used to be quite impressive at this store. However, after my visit tonight, I cant help wonder what happened. The store looks like a department store now. It was 90% clothing. Everything else is chest level around the perimeter. I have purchased many boating supplies from this location in the past, but it seems that a majority of that is gone now. There was lots of fishing supplies and a little something camping, but most of the store is clothing. What happened?

This place is EXTREMELY high on their prices across the board. One tip I can offer is if shopping for firearms insist that they price match Buds Gun Shop and Whittakers. They have done this for family members of mine which is the ONLY reason to but it there. 2/2016 Update - Another visit and another underwhelming experience. Plenty of people working there but nobody seems to want to help anyone. Seems like they try their best to avoid people really. Also experienced another long wait at the checkout..again..plenty of people around but seem to be oblivious to the long line. Only one register open.

Going out of business and they deserve it. Price is clearly marked 50% off and when you get to the register its only 30 or 40, and they want to argue with you. Had the worst experience with there credit card in that they never sent me the rewards points until now, after two years. Of course now theyre going out of business. Firearms prices are 30 to 50% higher than anything you would pay anywhere else, even with her paltry 15% discount. Bottom line is dont fool with these people.

Got a ruger 10/22 for Christmas from them, returned it due to the fact the rear sight was crooked on it. They sent it off almost 2 months ago, never saw it again. Take your business to a real gun shop! Over priced and terrible customer service, nothing good about them unless you like waiting forever! Also some of the employees are nice, but some of them are very rude! Like I said! Go to a real gun store!
