CHECK OUT THE GAS STATION. NO, REALLY! Overpriced compared to some grocery stores in town, and their produce section often seems a bit neglected (old vegetables) Their beer selection is pretty nice, though (ask about their beer club!) and their bakery is great. They always have a good pie selection, and fresh bread and sweets. I wouldnt shop here normally, but we come regularly for some of the stuff we cant get elsewhere. The gas station, however, has surprisingly good pre-made food! Its from the grocery stores restaurants/bakery, so its much better quality than most gas station schlock. The dogs and sausages arent bad, and they have everything you need to make it into a chicago dog. The hot food (hot pocket-like puffs and pizza) are really good, and the soda fountain is utterly amazing. Over a dozen soda choices from coke, pepsi, and dr pepper/7up brands, 7 flavor shot options, and the "Energy Drink" shots that turn your strawberry Mountain Dew into an ENERGY Strawberry Mountain Dew! And pretty much everything you buy ready to eat in the gas station (as well as a bunch of specials in the grocery store) give you a discount on your next tank of gas. We got our price down to 30 cents a gallon once!

This is an excellent supermarket with one drawback. They have an excellent deli, bakery, and meat department. They have a great cheese selection. Their prepared foods are awesome. They have a dining area with hot food. Cook-at-home pizza and other dishes. Their pickled beets, brownies, single serve cheesecake, and stuffed pork chops are some of my favorites. Their selection of other products throughout the store is excellent. Their store brand and generic brands also seem to be above average compared to stores in the area. Prices are reasonable or a little high, but their better selection and higher quality of prepared foods makes it worth me going there. The one drawback is their produce department. It is compost. There are wilted and moldy items on the shelf. Green shoots are often growing out of the turnips, garlic, and onions. Their pre-cut veggies look awesome--they have to get that produce from a different source than their own produce department.

HyVee was a logical choice for us to cater our wedding since we lived in IA for a year before moving back to IL. We used the HyVee in Sycamore & had several contacts there we worked with throughout the course of wedding planning. We did a cocktail hour with appetizers, a buffet style dinner, and a cupcake bar for dessert. Everything went smoothly the day of & our guests complimented the food, especially the appetizers and cupcakes! One small snafu: we had originally ordered salad to go with our dinner & it never made it on our menu the day of. We didn’t even notice until after the fact (wedding brain!) & let our coordinator know when we got back from our honeymoon. She was very apologetic, immediately refunded the amount for the salad as well as an extra refund as an apology for forgetting it. Ultimately, I would definitely recommend couples consider using HyVee for their big day!

I shop here all the time, the prices can be a bit high on certain things as any store but they do have their own set of good deals. Their deli selections are great, lots of cheeses to choose from but I also love their organic sections. The staff is always helpful and nice, even put my groceries in the freezer in the back when I left my wallet all the way at home and had to drive to the other side of town and back. Never seen friendlier staff. Certainly not at Walmart or Target. That alone is enough to keep me coming back.

After moving recently to DeKalb, I have missed the stores I have grown to love in Rockford. DeKalb doesnt seem to have much stores. Schnucks is overpriced and I had a bad experience with another Jewel that makes me wanna avoid like the plague. I have heard people talk about HyVee so I thought Id give them a try. I was surprised how affordable their prices were. The hot food counter is also the best I have ever seen with such an awesome selection. My girlfriend and I shop here quite often now.

Fantastic Fee

Whenever I shop here the service is always friendly, the store is clean, lines arent always so long. The associates want to help you, they chat with you and they check you out with no attitudes. The produce department is always clean with fresh everything. Their strawberries are awesome. Same goes for the food courts. And I cant leave out the pharmacy & liquor departments are awesome as well.

The food court, particularly the fresh salad bar, is really great. Good pizza, excellent Chinese food also. The Fuel Saver rewards program is another draw; earn cents off a gallon for purchasing select grocery items which change week to week. Good prices and selection. The Hy-Vee Health Mart has a nice selection of natural and organic foods and supplements. Friendly, helpful employees.

More like a food resource than a grocery store. They do lots of demonstrations and classes, the folks in each department seem like experts, and they make interesting foods on site as well. Great selection of organic/GF foods, too, and their beer selection is fantastic. The small-portion cheese cups in the cheese cooler are a great, inexpensive way to find something different and new.

Great floral dept.; Excellent Kitchen for catering food - awesome pulled pork and smoked chicken. Bakery is phenom as well. Love the variety and how they change things up from time to time. I would have given 5 stars but their produce section has taken a downhill turn over the last year. When they first opened it was fantastic.

Large variety of food for healthier eating, always has good samples with Happy people to serve you and knowledge about products.prices are reasonable and a huge wine amd liquor dept attached. Always great parking, and a sit down restaurant area. They also offer fuel saver discounts so Im always saving on gas.

Nice little grocery store has everything you need. Tasty bakery items.There is a saled bar at lunch havent tried it yet but looks good. Entrance and exit of parking lot is a little goofy but fine. They are always doing giveaways on facebook and the fuel saver program is great if you shop there consistently.

Awesome food court area and there is a Caribou Coffee inside! The produce selection is decent and I love the hand drawn signs all over the store, and the samples! The only negative I have is the seafood counter. Several times I have purchased "fresh" fish that was actually quite spoiled.

Love that they have such a great section for people who need alternative foods, whether its gluten free, vegan etc. Its clean and the employees are always helpful in finding a product you cant find. They dont just tell you its in aisle 10 they take you there and point it out.

As a store I love it. Has a place to get food I love it more. Such a selection! All cravings can be hit. Alex the woman over by the chicken and meals was absolutely amazing! Super nice and actually talked to me. I love coming here to eat, relax or shop!!!

Love their cuts of meat! They have great sales and love that you can earn money off on gas. I/we love their little food court thing! My kids cant get enough of their Chinese, and pasta salad, their Sushi is not bad at all either!
