I had the pleasure of enjoying vegan tea with two friends at Serenitea and it was a lovely experience. Serenitea is a quaint tearoom on Pleasant Street in Oak Park. They have a wide selection of teas, including authentic Japanese matcha, wine-flavored teas, and many delightful herbal infusions. I had the Key West herbal infusion, a rooibos blend with tropical fruits, because I cant handle caffeine after 11am (it keeps me up all night). I pre-requested vegan tea service about a week in advance so Tracy, the tea houses proprietor, would have time to gather ingredients. We were served a pretty, three tier plate of watercress & cream cheese sandwiches on artisanal bread, herbed mushroom rice in roasted sweet mini-peppers, polenta rounds with squash, and berry scones with a touch of cinnamon with jam and vegan butter. The scones were the best I have ever had in my life, golden and crunchy on the outside, delicate, and not too sweet. Of course everything was vegan, however, if you werent told the food was vegan, you would not have the faintest idea. My friend, who likes Japanese teas, purchased matcha and a measuring spoon. Serenitea also sells teas and tea accessories. Serenitea is highly recommended. Its relaxing and fun. Tea with friends is a soothing ritual that shouldnt be relegated to the realm of tradition and nostalgia. At $30, Serenitea is also half the price of tea at the Ritz Carlton. If you are in the Chicago area, dont miss it.

Excellent afternoon tea! I consider myself to be sort of a tea connoisseur. I have sampled afternoon teas in most of Chicagos luxury hotels and visited many tea rooms in England. Serenitea Café offers a delicious and authentic afternoon tea experience and is much more affordable and accessible! The sandwiches were very good and the scones (warm from the oven) were among the best I have ever had. I also appreciate the variety of tea they offer, including my favorite Assam with out the usual upcharge. I plan to return often!

Their food both savory and sweet is fabulous. Our family has a number of allergy concerns and they have gone out of their way to accommodated them. I am particular about tea and their selection is broad and of excellent quality and always served as you ask! The café is close to the Harlem green line L but still in a nice quite area of Oak Park, and inside is a pleasant oasis of calm.

This place was amazing! I bought a Groupon and went their with my mom. I had no idea what to expect but it was an amazing experience. Were not much into tea but they have so many that youre bound to find one you love! My mom and I plan on going back at least once a month to just have "us" time. Dont eat before you go! Call ahead if youd like to take scones home!

I really enjoyed the afternoon tea service and would love to return. There was a big variety of teas to choose from and I was able to try several by sharing with the group I was with. All the food served with tea was good. I definitely want to go back to try more variety of teas!
