USE HOME DEPOT BETTER SERVICE AND PEOPLE! On 05/14/17 I went to the menards in Melrose Park IL to buy some doors. When I got there they didnt have the doors primed so we had to special order them. I was fine with that. After ordering the three doors the manager of the department tells me that the doors will be delivered to the store and will be ready by 05/25/17. 2 doors will be ready on 05/24/17 and 1 of them will be 05/25/17. I said thats fine no problem. On 05/29/17 I borrowed my friends van because I dont have a car to pick them up and went to the menards to get the doors. Again I went there at 5/29 and the manager had told me they would be ready at 5/25. When I go there the employee told me that the doors arent there yet and they are at their distribution center. I was not happy because they told me they would be there 5/25 and even in the system of menards it said they would be there 5/25. After that the employee said nothing we can do. I asked for a manager and her name was Tanya(the worst customers service in the world and I dont even know how she is a leader or a manager. ) Tanya the manager came and she said how can I help you. I told her according to your system and what the manager that ordered my doors it says the doors should be here. I am here 4 days later than the estimated date say they should have been here and now they arent here. I told her I dont need a discount or refund and I said nicely that since I can not use my friends car again can you guys please take care of the delivery for free because it is your guys responsibility that they arent there. She told me that the computer says estimated which means it can come after and again everything that came out of her mouth was rude and very unprofessional on how she was talking. I told her estimated means with in the dated that it is estimate it means either by the date it is estimated or before that date. She comes back with smart comment and all rude" thats the first time I have heard that. So I asked her according to you since it says estimated time 5/25 and it can mean after than it means I can end up getting my doors next year or god knows when. And she laughed and said well idk what to tell you. I will not refund your or give your discount and I will not delivery for free. I am done here and walked away. This is supposed to me a manager of the store. Actually she was the assistant General manager because thats how she was introduced. So I told her I will call next day for higher manager and Mike the AsstGeneral manager called and didnt even apologize for Tanya his assistant actions and unprofessionalism and simple said that sorry just because the doors arent here in time doesnt mean we should refund you or credit you. Its not our responsibility. My money is being treated as they please and they are not delivering on their promise or products. Without us customers Menards wouldnt be in business. And yet you going to say its not our responsibility. Then I asked to speak to the highest manager which was THE general manager of the store and Efran I think was his name called and he said the same thing we can do anything for you sorry we wont do free delivery. He said I can give your corporate number to complain but at the end they will come to us and ask us. So I did not call corporate because they are going to do nothing for me as the General manager stated pretty much. Now I had to get another car to get the doors yesterday. At this point I dont want delivery for free I need to be compensated for rudeness and not having the doors in time as they told me they would. This guys are horrible customer service and they are just bad for the menards business. I feel bad that other actual good people out there dont have jobs and people like Tanya Mike and Efran have high end jobs to play with our money as they please and lie and be rude and disrespectful. After spending $5000 in 1 month and I know others spend more this Menards as company lost my business in which I will need to spend that much again. Home Depot it is. At least they dont disrespect you

Shiney! *Edit - there is such a thing as being too big and having too many products. I went there looking for a padlock so I went to the lock section. After searching for half an hour I was finally told that its in the the hardware section. I was given wrong directions and aisle numbers and never found the lock. I was also looking for a lawn mower in the beginning of June and they only had 8 on display_in stock. 8! There were no other models in the garden department or outside or anywhere. They also had a larger food section then they had some Home Improvement sections. They sell everything from foods to clothing to furniture to cleaning supplies Etc. Their area rug section and window treatment section was much larger than their Hardware/tool section. Which is what I always related Menards be. A hardware store where you bought tools and Home Improvement /repair/remodeling items. Not to buy a gallon of milk. When I left I realized I had spent 4.5hrs (!) in the store and only found 15 items off of my list that contained about 30. The reason being I was constantly given the wrong location of the products that I was looking for or they just didnt have it because they had to make room for non-hardware items. And in the 4.5hrs, I didnt even get through the entire store. I only maybe it through 3/4ths of the store, if that. If I ever have to go there again, Ill be asking the workers where are the items that I need and have them walk me over to where the item is located weather rather than wandering around completely lost. This is my 4th visit to the store & it still couldnt get a feel for the layout. As I said, there is such a thing as being too big (over 200 aisles!) and offering too much. When I left there, I immediately went to Home Depot where I found the lawn mower that I wanted before I even exited my car after pulling into the parking spot. It was outside on display and it was the exact one that I wanted. Within 15 minutes it was paid for and in my car. This was the main reason for my shopping that day.

As a contractor, I naturally visit home centers on a daily basis. Some stores carry products I prefer, some dont. Hands down, Menards is my #1 choice for general supplies. However, Id really love to meet the decision maker who gave the go-ahead to build these bi-level stores. On the companys end, I see how it makes sense, and saves money. But they stock everything contractors need on the 2nd level! Electrical and plumbing supplies, including conduit, plumbing pipe, and also doors and trim moldings. What sense does it make to force a customer to juggle 10 ft lengths of pipe down the escalator or elevator? Im in the store right now, and just watched a poor guy dump his load of trim out on the escalator. And the sign by the staircase ensuring the ease of carrying trim down a flight of stairs is just laughable. For those reasons I no longer purchase conduit, pipe, or trim from menards. Takes too much time, and is too much of a hassle. Id rate the store 5 stars for organization & customer service, but only 3 for ease of navigation.
