Ive known the staff at Good Speed Cycles (formerly Byrons) for a while and I can say that they are very knowledgeable, very helpful and pretty cool to talk with as well. They have helped me purchase a first bike for my wife, get my dad riding again after more than 20 years, outfit my two girls with proper-fitting bikes and mentored me as I rebuilt a few old Schwinn bikes. It will be clear to people who enter the new store that this team is dedicated to bike riders and riding themselves. The staff has stocked an impressive number of bikes for recreational riding, mountain biking, urban riding, racing and road riding as well as plenty of BMX and other trick bike options. In addition to this, their collection of accessories, gear, clothing, shoes and tools puts other local bike shops to shame. Heres some advice: If you want a $200 bike, go to walmart or target. Now, if you want a bike that will fit you properly, last you a lifetime and the support and assistance of bike experts, go to Good Speed Cycles. You will be glad you did.

I went in because my rear tire disc brake locked up. The mechanic said he would try and bleed the brakes. I asked him if has done it before and he replied he runs the shop. He then spent about 15 minutes talking to his friend that walked in about his trip to China. Finally I got my bike back 20 minutes later, which was ok since the store is nice and I was browsing and ended up picking up a jersey. However, that day I went riding in Palos Heights on trails and I had no rear brake, none! He did not bleed the air but the fluid as well. Anyway, I paid for service that was no performed well, maybe next time he can concentrate on my bike and not what tea they serve in Bejing.

My wife and I are new to cycling and we wanted more than just a place to purchase our bikes. We wanted a shop that will always stand behind their product and get us back on the road with a smile. Initially in early 2012 I purchased a hybrid of myself then in spring 2013 I traded in my hybrid for a road bike. This year I also purchased my wife a road bike. The service has been great. Never an issue for us to show up with some odd issue or question or even the a quick tune up. They are always happy to help. See for yourself. Great customer service and very knowledgeable staff! We were shopping around for 2 mountain bikes and had many questions and didnt know what would be the right fit for us. Almost a year later, we are so happy with our purchase. I live out of state and happened to be in Homewood last minute during a recent weekend. They were able to service our bikes complimentary in a days notice!

Great place and great staff, Ive been in a few times for minor parts or repairs and have been really taken care of. They stayed 30 minutes late to make sure the adjustments were right on my bike. They seem to really be bike people too, and thats important. The shop is well stocked and fun to look around. The lounge/TV area to relax while getting repairs done is a nice touch.

Im a veteran with nerve damage in my right leg......the amazing employees in the store helped me with an extremely comfortable bicycle to keep my leg strong and keep my overall health up while minimizing the pain........I recommend this store to all.....the bikes are worth every penny....aND the customer service is out of this world.....Thank You Goodspeed Cycles!

I purchased a custom cruiser (hell belly) about 3 years ago. They properly fitted me because I have a disability and its challenging for me ride a traditional bike with crank directly below the seat. The quality service outweighs the amount I paid for the bike. Besides I enjoy the attention I receive while riding my, "hell belly."

Fair prices, knowledgeable, quick service. Have purchased 3 bikes under the current ownership. 2 bikes from the Homewood store and 1 from the Burnham store and will soon be buying another. Staff is kinda nerdy about bikes but this is a good thing. They have never steered me wrong. Best bike shop I have ever been in.

Theyre extra knowledgeable about bike chains and security and shop service is very fast and very affordable. They can fix all bikes, even vintage ones and tandems. Its super cool of them to share their parking lot after 6pm, and they have been a very involved part of the community since opening.

Not at all happy when I get quoted one price and am told the labor is included just come back and have the price go up nearly $100 more than the original quote. I should have gotten a written estimate, but live and learn. Seriously doubt I will be coming back.
