This practically incognito Michigan Avenue bicycle store is the perfect bike shop, in my humble estimation. You can find your 3000 dollar weightless carbon road bike here, but they also have plenty flat black one speed gems, with cool names like Sputnick. I like the people there. they are helpful, chatty and they love biking. My girlfriend and I hit about 4 different shops around the Chi-Zone, and this place was hands down the best. Although 1000 bucks is an extremely "reasonable" price in Chicago for two new adult bikes (The cheapest shop by far), its still 1000 bucks. We finally ended up buying two refurbished bikes at a yard sale. Today, we took them into Cycle, and guess what? The fine mechanics at Cycle fixed the brakes, changed the seats and gave invaluable advice, even though we hadnt bought them there! You can go get froze out by the bikesnob vibe at any of the other chicagoland cyclerias, or come downtowm to Cycle, and get treated like a human being by bike experts who know how to treat a customer... or a non-customer!

I wish a had something positive to say because I was very excited coming into this vintage bike shop. Unfortunately this place is hit or miss, but my experience has been mostly miss. They seem to take no pride in their workmanship. I find myself paying them for the work and then going home and correcting errors. Pricing is also very inconsistent, one week you get charged one thing and for the same labor two weeks later youre charged a higher price. Very unenthusiatic and unwelcoming atmosphere is the vibe that Ive received from the employees, maybe Im not part of the inner circle.

I got great service, and a very friendly ear. It may not have the largest selection, but it has very good bikes. I showed up 30 minutes before closing to buy a bike. They let me test ride two in the rain, and made recommendations, steering me towards a more affordable bike. They stayed an hour after closing to make sure I had everything I needed. Definitely coming back here in the future.

Went in with questions about folding bikes. They had plenty of information on different models, were very friendly and knowledgeable. As an added bonus- their dogs were hanging out in the shop. If theyd of had beer, I never would have left. I dont live in Chicago but visit frequently and cycle around the city. Ill be stopping back in for any needs when near the Near South Side.

i went in looking for a square taper bottom bracket nut for my commuter. the owner went back and rummaged around for like 5 minutes and returned with one. he was only gonna charge me 25 cents, but all i had was my credit card. he just told me to leave a quarter next time i was in the shop and gave it to me for free. ill definitely be back to spend more money here.

I came here to grab a helmet now that Im a divvy-er and they didnt treat me like a second rate citizen! The shop was pretty busy even though it was just before close on a Friday. They had a great selection and I was able to grab what I needed. If I ever got serious about city biking, this would be my place - the staff was very friendly despite their rugged look!

FANTASTIC bike shop, GREAT service, AWFUL website. Sad really, theyd be a 5 star if their website wasnt like something out of Geocities circa 1999. Dont let a bad site stop you from visiting though. The super sweet old dog that guards the place alone makes it worth a visit.

Carmichael and team are the best. I would never buy or service a bike anywhere else in the city. They really are experts but they are also super helpful and friendly. I bought my bike from Cycle five years ago and it is in top condition thanks to Carmichael and team.

This place rocks, had my quick release break leaving my rear tire unattached. Called the store (already closed). Owner said come on in Ill wait for you. Then further exceeded my expectations and replaced the part for free. They just earned a customer for life.

Great experience. Came In with a flat, and it was immediately tended to. Employees checked the tube to see if it could be repaired, or needed it, and then quickly changed it out and serviced bike. Fair prices, quick and accurate work.

Have to give a 5 star for the friendly owner. He adjusted my bike for free that I feel I need to buy something there. Almost like a family working atmosphere there, I saw them BBQ outdoor at summer Sundays, must be fun to work there!
