Damn! Wish I could swing by 3 times a week. I just love this style diner. Chef Chris has himself a winning combination. Cozy counter and an open kitchen. Friendly staff and a great cook. Worth the wait and my first experience left a lasting impression. Found out about the Cranky Chef from porkmafia.us and glad I made the pilgrimage from Naperville. Be sure to put a dash of their custom Burrdaddys rub/spice on what ever youre enjoying. Youll find whimsical specials weekly and I was really tempted to try the pound cake French toast, but the breakfast sandwich won out. The butter bun really made the sandwich stand out. Loved the unique hash browns and I witnessed Chef Chris smashing them fresh in the background too. Chicagos Best was here filming, so the secrets out. This is definitely worthy of Chicagos Best breakfast.

Only reason its not 5 stars is because I didnt see a restroom. Sorry but thats a big deal especially for a diner and if your hungover at said diner. My spidy senses tell me the owner was a chef somewhere else, big time and he just needed a break which is awesome for us. His food is fantastic. The sausage patties (hand made) are my personal favorites. And keep me coming in. The coffee selection is also surprisingly good but they need to train all the servers on how to make everything on the menu. I had that problem with a mocha the one day. Staff and head cook/owner are very nice. All in all Ive yet to have a problem with the food. As every restaurant should be, they are consistent. Also to the customers!!! YOU SHOULD BE AT A TABLE IF YOUR THERE WITH YOUR 5 YEAR OLD KIDS!! Thanks

I moved to the Edgebrook neighborhood two years ago. I was wondering if there was a diner place. On my daily walk, I saw this place. It has different hours, but Im retired. I was just what I was looking for in a local diner. The service was great, the staff was excellent. Its a place with good food and not rushed. Ill be coming back.

2nd time for breakfast at Edgebrook coffee shop. Friendly and attentive staff, even when busy. Small but diverse menu; the chicken chorizo is spicy-flavorful without being "hot" spicy. Small room; counter, or 2-person tables. I have "Hash", equivilant to "Skillet" at other places. We left a $10 top on a $26 check--they were THAT good.

We love the food here and come regularly for breakfast on the weekends. The chicken chorizo hash and corned beef hash are excellent. Delicious weekly specials are unique and change every week. Staff is friendly and service is prompt. Seating is very limited though so sometimes there is a small wait.

Good food. Good atmosphere. Good coffee. No kids menu but they can mix and match the menu to feed kids. Apparently, this restaurant attracts the core residents of Edgebrook. You can see them up close with their mild mannered attire and near perfect table manners. Try the bacon!

This place is amazing. It doesnt look like much from the outside, but its cozy counter and friendly staff will make you feel right at home. What keeps me coming back is the food. Everything is fresh and mostly cooked to order. Its the best breakfast for miles, hands down.
