We live in the neighborhood, and this is a favorite stop for me and my daughters. They have a craft table set up on the lower level with stacks of paper along with a bunch of crayons, markers and stamps for the kids to create their newest masterpiece. They have a great selection of high quality art supplies. I keep the kids flush in crayons, markers, pencils, watercolors and the right kinds of paper for very reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even under the onslaught of questions from gradeschool age children.

This place is amazing. You can find pretty much anything youll need if youre a small scale visual artist. The staff there were very friendly, stylish, and helpful. They also have great novelty items there as well! Oh and to top it all off they have a student and teacher discount. Didnt really expect to find great socks and pins at this place but it has now solidified its seld as one of the best places to go to in the south loop.

Great selection, great prices. This shop has a great selection of not only art supplies, but in the basement they carry a broad selection of building materials for other projects, and have a great selection of art supplies aimed at the younger set. There is a broad selection of surfaces as well to use in paintings and other visual arts projects. The staff is helpful and pleasant.

This is my favorite art supply store! And I will keep going there because their price is probably the lowest among all that i have been to. the people who works here never up-sell you and they are very friendly. Its right next to the grand central market so theres a lot to see around the area if you dont want to move your car from place to place in Chicago.

Hands down the best art supplies store in the city. The staff are working artists who know their facts across mediums. If they are not carrying something or currently out of stock you can special order through the manager. Coolest place ever

Artist & Craftsman is a hidden gem. Great selection, funky vibe, and the staff knows what theyre selling. Its easy to get in and out quickly if youre in a rush, but I like to spend extra time when I have it just to see everything they have.

Its an old school type of non-corporate art store that has a well-stocked, decent, and an imaginative inventory thats fun to explore. Their sales are not confusing and misleading like Dick Blicks. I love the atmosphere of this place.
