7 months. It took 7 months to receive my custom Glock from head down products. It took a lot of patience and perserverance to wait for this firearm. In exchange for my time I received 100 rds of 9mm ammo and the 3.5 lb trigger upgrade. The upgrades were ok but not that great compared to the amount of time spent waiting. I was initially told 8-10 weeks was the turnaround time for a custom glock. When those weeks went by I had to call HD to find out was going on. There were no updates given to me unless I left a message. I was told it would be 5 more weeks until my firearm was ready due to "machine shop delays". 5 weeks went by and 15 weeks ended up turning into 28 weeks in total. I called once a week to ask for an update as none were given to me. After they told me an actual date a month in the future, I decided to wait it out since I had already been waiting so long. In an industry like the firearms industry, trust is one of the most important factors for purchasing firearms, ammo, and for getting custom work done. Here are the places HD broke my trust: 1. Turn around time totally incorrect (instead of 10 weeks I had 28 weeks of waiting). 2. Seeming reluctance to upgrade due to long wait time. I only received any upgrades because I kept pestering them and asked what my benefit should be for waiting. 3. Shipped ammo with my firearm in the same box. This is plain stupid and is against carrier policies which my FFL told me and now refuses to work with this company. I will say some positive things: The firearm workmanship and quality is excellent. The firearm arrived in excellent shape with everything I wanted. The stippling is very aggressive and comfortable. The slide cuts are excellent, the trigger upgrade very nice and the internal polishing done very well. I will be enjoying this pistol for years to come. However, Im not sure that I trust HD to either 1. Stay in business or 2. Complete service quickly with their "Rifle for Life" guarantee. I will likely be taking it elsewhere for additional maintenance. Maybe I got to them at a bad time since I ordered in January and they might have had a backlog of Christmas orders or something. Maybe their machine shop was having bad issues. But on the other hand 7 months is plenty of time to find a new machine shop. 7 months wait for a pistol is crazy and I wont be doing it again.

Horrible. I ordered a rifle and was told it would take 12 weeks. Today is 17 weeks later and they said another 5 weeks and it might be done. A custom built rifle is one thing but I ordered several other items from them as well and I still dont have them. Almost everything on their site is not in stock and they order it from another company. Its been 4 months and still nothing. The owner called me and said they were going to give me a rifle bag free for the delay. I got that rather quickly. I was then informed that the rifle bag was taking the place of another item I had ordered and paid for. They stopped answering my phone calls but if I called with another phone they would answer right away. I had heard great things about this company and their weapons. Ill never know as I cancelled my order and will be returning the rifle bag they sent. They said I could keep it as a gift but why keep a rifle bag if you have no rifle? I advise staying away. I work in law enforcement and will be telling everyone I know to stay away from these guys. Update: hell I just got a billeted M-4 at primary arms, with more upgrades for $549. Thats almost half what head down charges for their triton 10 equavilant. And the customer service far exceeds anything head down has to offer. There is really no reason to order a weapon with these guys. You can get the same product with more upgrades for less money and better customer service elsewhere. Kinda says it all doesnt it?

We acted as a receiving FFL dealer, where they shipped a firearm directly to a customers house. Luckily, the customer brought it in to us to properly log and do the background check. I called, and tried to advise them of the situation, and the woman on the phone was extremely rude, and said "Well, we show it logged to you". When I asked her to check her shipping/tracking information, it would show that it was shipped directly to the customer, and NOT our FFL address, she all but told me to buzz off, and "I dont understand why you are calling". As another dealer, doing everything properly is key to keeping your doors open. I was trying to do them a solid by advising them of the issue so that they could correct it, and make sure it didnt happen again, as it is 100% ILLEGAL to ship a firearm directly to a customer. If you are another dealer sending an FFL to them to ship a product for a customer, be sure to follow up and make sure it is actually shipped to you. They may show it logged out to you, and you never will have received the item. Thankfully, our customer is honest, and knew that was not correct.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I had a very bad experience with Head Down Products. A few years ago I ordered a custom AR-15 lower and paid $179.99 for it. They charged my credit card and kept telling me to wait because they were about to build and ship it out. Well, they never ended up shipping the lower, and they never gave me a refund either. When I tried to contact them, they wouldnt respond. I thought they went out of business or something. I chalked up my experience as a $179.99 loss and forgot about them until earlier this morning when I got an email from their marketing dept. I am surprised that a company that takes someones money without sending the product could still be in business. Maybe management has changed or something like that, but I would still be wary of this company. I know it has been a few years, but the bad taste is still in my mouth. Hopefully I am one of the only customers they have cheated. As far as Im concerned, they still owe me $179.99, but I will probably never see that money again...

Ordered a rifle in October of last year. Was given an 8 week estimate for completion. After an unanswered email and a few phone calls where I got shrugged off, still no product. One time theyll say that theyre having trouble getting parts and the next time its blamed on machining issues. On both of those calls, they offered me upgrades for a gun that Ive never even seen. I asked for my money back and was told that they would talk to the owner to see what could be done. Must take a while to get a hold of him, because that was 2 months ago. Theyre local to me so Im gonna swing by there one last time before taking legal action. Shouldve known something wasnt right when they asked for full payment before the product was complete. Only "custom" firearm shop Ive ever known to do this. Glad I recorded the calls. Itll most likely cost me more than the $1100 that I entrusted them with to fight it, but itll be worth it just for principle. Cant believe I let myself get took like this. Bad reps for the custom firearm industry. Buyer beware.
