Long story short: My phone vibrated itself off my nightstand and the front glass shattered. I heard from three different people who had something similar happen and they all told me to make an appointment at the Apple Store and take it in. They had had their phones replaced at no cost when they accidentally dropped theirs. One of those people dropped theirs off a 7th floor balcony. Other people told me about the great customer service at the Apple Store. Made an appointment at the Mall of Georgia location. Made the hour drive and even got there a little early. I checked in and waited. And waited. I was told they were running a "little" behind. I finally got called up to the Genius Bar, where a guy shook my hand and then immediately started looking at his computer screen. I explained what happened with my phone when I checked in and they put notes in the system. Chad didnt even look at my phone when I sat down. He just looked at his screen and said, "Oh, good news, I can offer you a reduced price on a replacement, it will only be $149." I looked at him and said, "Im sorry, you havent even looked at the phone." That is when he finally looked at my phone. LOOKED AT IT, mind you, he never touched it. "I can tell from looking at it that there are multiple points of impact." I said, "Well, unless it hit the floor a couple times after it fell, maybe. But I wouldnt know since I wasnt in there." Thats when he looked at me and said, "That does not look like damage caused from falling off a nightstand." Nothing like being called a liar! He then started the broken record treatment, "The best I can do is $149. The best I can do is $149. The best I can do is $149." I told him I only paid $75 for the phone, so I wasnt going to pay $149 to replace it. HE LAUGHED AT ME and then scoffed, "The iPhone 4 has never been that price." Again with the being accused of lying. (Point of fact: I upgraded to the iPhone 4 in December of 2010. Radio Shack was offering a trade in of $75 for an iPhone 3G with a $50 instant rebate, bringing the price down to $75. So yes, I did pay $75 for my iPhone 4.) After going to AT&T and finding out I could upgrade to a 4S for $50 more than what they were asking to replace my 4, I went back to upgrade. The young man who helped me this time asked me how I was doing and I showed him my phone and said, "Not very good." He laughed and said, "Oh that sucks." I said, "Im really not in the mood for jokes." He put in the request for the phone and then said someone would bring it out to us. He continued to make lighthearted comments about my broken phone and said, "Guess youll be more careful with this one, huh?" Again, I said I wasnt in the mood for jokes. He made sure to tell me that Apple Care NOW covers this kind of damage. Too little too late! About 10 minutes later, another employee came up and thats when I was told they were out of the 16GB 4S in both black and white. Would I want to go ahead and upgrade to the 32GB for $100 more? Uh, no. He laughed AGAIN and said, "This day keeps getting worse for you, huh?" He kept poking fun at all the misfortune I was experiencing and I had enough. He AGAIN laughed and said, "Well you can always reserve one online, but you have to do it at 9pm or else theyll all be gone." I was in shock at this point. I just walked out. I was so disgusted with this entire experience. My first time at an Apple Store. It will definitely be my last time at THIS Apple Store. I was willing to pay for an upgrade and I continued to get ridiculed. I wasnt looking for a handout, I just wanted good service.

About 7 years ago I moved from a PC to Mac. I made the move because I had 3 Windows PC Crash, two hanging and this was all due to various hardware and software bugs. Im glad I made the choice to move to Mac. My last purchase of a MAC was 4 years ago.. and during that time I have had the hard-drive replaced twice free of charge because I had the Apple Care program on it. Today my Mac completely froze after running a software program called PTGui, used for stitching images together into Panoramic Photos. The software crashed my system and I couldnt log in. I thought for sure it had its last gasp and I was going to have to buy a new one. I made an appointment over the Internet through my phone brought my Mac in they did a hard reboot rain diagnostics everything was okay, it rebooted and I could get back in. Now I was ready to plop down 3K for the best Mac Book Pro they had there.. and if I went to Frys or Best Buy they would have sold me that new Mac Book Pro.. but the Shawn at the Genius bar didnt try to upsell me or say it was time to move to a new machine.. he took care of my problem and my Mac is back running perfectly again. Its service like this that makes me a Apple Customer for LIFE!!!

I went into the apple store wanting a replacement on iPhone 4. My friend had recently purchased one that came directly from china. Oviously this was a different batch because at my house i had one bar with 4.0.1 and he had 4 bars on the same software. Touching the corner on his could not replicate the stop in data transfer or a drop in bars. I told him this information and all they did was take my iPhone and ran some tests and say that it was in operational limits of a iPhone 4 antenna. they said nothing was wrong. When i tried to explain my troubleshooting, ie restoring to 4.0.1 and always using a case. He responded to my friend having a newer iPhone 4 was even if you are in the same area, the other iPhone 4 could be connected a different tower. I find that hard to believe because they are both iPhones 4 with cases and 4.0.1 and should receive the same signal. I called 1800 my apple and they sent me a replacement iPhone within a week granted i was still able to use iPhone 3gs without signal problems for a week. oh 3gs and the droid x do not loose signal no matter how you hold it.

The staff is generally friendly and knowledgeable. My appointment was 30 mins past the start time. They very generously offered to cover my accidental damage on my MacBook Pro. The repair was completed on time and when I went to pick it up they tried to charge me $700. I told the Rep that the gentleman who helped me the week prior told me it would normally not be covered but for this one instance they would cover the repair since I never use Apple Care or make warranty claims on my devices. I had to go back and forth on the pickup and they tried to settle with me for splitting the bill 50/50. I explained that this is unacceptable and they cant say free one day and $375 another day. Long and short is they fixed the laptop quite nicely and they didnt charge me, but it was a bit of a pain and a bit lengthy both dropping it off and picking it up. All told probably 2 hours or more of my time to drop off and pick up (not counting travel and parking and navigating the Mall). If they ever "comp" your repair get it in writing.
