I have never had such a horrible experience with customer service and misleading sales people. I went into the store about a month ago to see what pricing they would offer me on a specific handgun. They offered it to me at the MSRP price of the manufacturer. BUT WAIT, the salesman tells me about their amazing price match guarantee. He says "we will match any advertised price from a reputable retailer". He didnt go into the details of how their price match "guarantee" pretty much makes it impossible to fulfill due to loads of small print. He does tell me he would be happy to take a deposit so Im promised the handgun I want will be in stock when/if I return to get it. He knew my intent was to go check around and see if I could find a better price elsewhere to utilize the price match guarantee (that turned out to be useless). So... I find the handgun for a better price online. By a margin of 22%. Not from gunbroker... from budsgunshop. Thats a pretty reputable retailer of firearms if you ask me. I would be willing to bet they sell 10x the number of firearms as Gander if not more. Regardless, I call the store and they wont match online pricing. Period... They will only match pricing for stores within a certain radius and it has to be advertised in a specific way. So whatever. I say, no big deal, just credit my deposit back to my card... WELLL. Sales guy, "sir, we can only give deposits back in the store. You will need to come to the store to get the deposit back. I say, "seriously?". Sales guy, "seriously, its store policy". I found it hard to believe. I hung up and called corporate to confirm this so called "store policy". So I eventually get someone on the phone and they tell me, "thats not store policy, they can actually send you a check". So he goes ahead and calls the store for me and eventually I get a call back saying I will receive the check in the next couple of weeks. NICE. That wasnt too bad. Maybe a 3 star experience. BUT WAIT. THERES MORE. I receive the check as promised. But its only half of the deposit. I immediately call back corporate. They tell me I need to speak to the store directly to find out what happened. I call the store directly. They tell me there is another "STORE POLICY" that says there is a non refundable $50 fee for cancellation of "layaway" purchases. I say, "I put down a deposit, I didnt sign anything saying layaway". They tell me me its just the way the take deposits. I ask them to tell me where I can find this policy and to send me a copy of where this policy is stated. They tell me they can mail me a copy in a couple of weeks. So... after all of this, needless to say, I will never step foot in Gander again. I hope the place burns down honestly. I was lied to, mislead, and taken advantage of. I have hours spent on the phone between the store and corporate. Im out $50 no matter what apparently, even though I was never informed of the fee. I only signed the electronic thing for the credit card swipe. I dont remember any small print on that dinky scratched up signature screen, but who knows. My receipt says nothing about the $50 fee. They are theifs. Ill update this when I get my signed copy of the "layaway agreement".

Brought my 8 month pregnant girlfriend to buy Pepper spray and exchange a fishing pole with in the warranty period to which I was told was not able to be done with out the receipt which was at home an hour away, so I just go to pay for the pepper spray and the customer service guy retorts "What you are going to buy her a gun?!" To which I referred to the multiple guns that I own that have been purchased at Gander Mountain as well as two of my gun safes. He again disrespectfully said "You should do something for the young lady" which she brushed off and said "Thanks for calling me young because he calls me his old lady" to which he had the Audacity to turn around look at me seriously and say "You better treat your girl right or someone else will". I respectfully asked to see a manager and I walked away to remove myself, he got the manager and she informed me they actually could do an exchange without a receipt and then did so. Then the assistant manager came out and asked about the issue, I told him and he replied "I would have jacked him in his jaw if he said that to me or my girl." Not only was I lied to about my pole, but both my 8 month pregnant girlfriend and I were completely disrespected with absolutely no regard for our child, which due to the stress and upset caused that day could potentially result in birth defects or even loss of our child. I asked to speak with a senior manager in the company or even for an email to which I was told "No, we dont have any contact info for them only our manger tomorrow can contact them" which is a complete lie. Treat your customers right or someone else will!

I am normally not someone to write reviews but after my experience at Gander Mountain, I felt it was completely necessary to share my wonderful experience. I was torn between shopping at Gander Mountain or going to Bass Pro but after reading some of the positive customers reviews from google, I decided to go to Gander Mountain. Even though Bass Pro is a 15 minute drive compared to Gander which is a 45 plus depending on traffic. I am convinced that Mr. Mark (one of the store managers) was a true Christmas angel this holiday season. My daughter has recently picked up archery as a new hobby within the last year. Being a single mother it was crucial that I purchase items that were both affordable and quality. At first, Mr. Mark welcomed me and offered his service but being confident I denied his offer only to discover shortly after how much I was in desperate need of his assistance. After reuniting with Mr. Mark he listened to my needs and reassured me I was in the right place. He made sure my daughter would have a big smile on Christmas morning after opening the gifts we picked out. What could have been a huge disaster turned out to be a pleasant shopping trip. I already plan on doing more shopping at Gander. Mr. Mark also informed me how Gander offers archery lessons and repairs which is a great thing to know! Again, I cant thank Mr. Mark enough for his amazing customer service,hospitality, and knowledge of archery.

Worst place in the world to shop at, go to the fishing department and the guy was so rude and disrespectful walking around in his wannabe cool ear piece when I was at the department 15 minutes before closing so I could get in and out fast and asked him to help with getting fishing line and have it spooled he said you came in here 5 minutes before closing (more like 15 jerk) and now want line to be put on, and then I pulled out my phone and said look its 15 when I started talking to you (thats how long it took to get no help for fishing line), I said listen to me dont be rude to me and help me with some customer service so I can get some fishing line put on the reel fyi., because I wanted to get in and out ! The guy at Gander Mountain in Palm Beach Gardens then walks away from me and says I will put it on but you get your own fishing line. He then goes and stand next to 2 other employees saying something under his breath and then when I walk up he lets out a chuckle. Enough said, how many 1 star reviews does it take to get the fishing department to not be jerks to customers. Last time I went in it was a different kid with just as bad of ego with a old guy being rude as well. Take care Gander you lost my business and it sounds like from the rest of the other reviews you lost theirs also, I can put on my own line and buy it on amazon or buy one get one free see ya
