Needed a "Front Door" rated "Post Andrew." My insurance wouldnt credit my homes "Hurricane Shutters" until I replaced the front door?! I called Home Depot, waited 2 weeks for someone to come out to measure the size of my front door. Ive since found its a "standard door"... That was in January 2013, in March my husband received a call that they were ready! He went there pen, and cash in hand, but wound up waiting over an hour and a half, and said "Ive got to get to a clients, so FAX the paperwork to me." ITs November, and weve still not received the FAX?! He instead stopped at Shell Lumber later that day, and spoke to "Sales" ordered the door, had it "drop shipped" and his salesman even recommended an installer "Tom Roh!" Shell is NOW our default Hardware store! We both would rather drive a few minutes more, and talk to the staff there thats always helpful. Thanks for your assistance with this matter. Worst Customer service. Made me wait for two days, then after I called for a third time they wanted me to wait an additional 2 hours, I requested to have the quote at the moment since I needed the parts for the day before, and said that if I didnt get I was better off with their competitors. The parts sale rep then answer "OK" and hang up on me. When kind of business is a business when you have to wait for a day and then be patience and understandable with idiots like that? Shell Lumber and Hardware needs to start paying their employees more, or at least stop hiring idiots that dont give a crap about the business they are working for. Thats it, I prefer to pay a few cents even a dollar more with their competitors if at least I am treated like a customer instead of the part sale representatives employee!

These guys are awesome.. they have a ton of friendly/helpful employees on the floor, ready and willing to help you. Lots of marine/epoxy products too, in case youre a DIYer. If I had one "complaint", it would be that their selection of electrical stuff is lacking. They dont have any of the large blade-type automotive fuses (i.e. the 40 or 50 amp type), and the battery terminals they sell are tiny made-in-china pieces that youd never want hooked up to anything that needed to be reliable. Also they only have a handful of cables sold by the foot.. 8/10/12/14 ga. marine-rated cables, if I remember correctly. Home Depot will take care of you in that regard, anything from like 4 gauge all the way up to 18.

Every employee there is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. This place is SO much better than Home Depot or any other hardware store in Miami that the others just dont even rate in comparison. Need unusual wood? Shells your place. Need a door you cant get "on the floor" at the big stores? Shell just might have it. And their prices are often LOWER than Home Depots. I just wish they were a little closer to my home. If so, Id do ALL my lumber and hardware shopping there.

I have been going to Shell Lumber for over 14 years and they have a lifelong customer in me. I will drive past two other hardware stores (including a Home Depot) to get there. Their employees are probably the single biggest draw. If they cant answer your question they will find a person who can. The recent expansion for the garden area is very welcome and only adds to an incredible inventory. Keep up the amazing service and the small town feel. A gem in the Grove!!!!

Great customer service, great selection of lumber and raw materials, tools, hardware, parts, etc. Just about the closest thing you can find to a good old fashioned hardware store in Miami, and thats definitely a complement. They have a vastly greater selection of most things than the big-box hardware stores, and many things that other stores dont have. Highly recommended.

This a convenient place to get last minute items for any project. They also have a food truck/trailer there. I would not recommend eating from there. The person who handles the money is also picking up food with the same hand they used to handle the money and without washing there hands or using gloves not hair net nothing yuck. Have a great day.

If you are a Contrctor Stay Away this company is the Worst waited two day for call back on material people are clueless of what you are talking about called and told them I needed the material was told could not get it for two day To bad for them being we are a big company that has just started work in south Florida will never use them again.

I just go there sometimes.. Cause its cool..!!.. And I can sorta hide from work....!! Plus..the popcorn..!?

The absolute best selection of quality wood plus an "old school" hardware shop like you never see anymore. Impressive mill room and fantastic service with friendly attitude. They have a great selection of exotic woods, slabs, and live edge boards which is my primary reason to shop here.

Great store with a great selection of items that Home Depot doesnt have. Unfortunately it came to my attention that theyre ardent supporters of District 2 Commissioner Marc Sarnoff who is a lying, self-serving scumbag. I will no longer patronize this establishment.

This place is the worse place ever! Bad service client. I ve ordered a door and they ve feeling it s coming for over a month and they re not doing anything! I totally regret that spent all this time waiting for that door! Unprofessional business

Great place!! Love coming here! Extremely knowledgeable staff. Custom orders too! Tiny bit more expensive than Home Depoo but the advise you get here is priceless & from pros who really know. Great hot dogs too ; ) 5 star service!

Great selection. They close a little early but they open early to make up for it. Stainless "Fastener Center" fasteners are known to be of poor quality though and historically rust out pretty quick, which drops this rating to 4/5
