Poor Customer Service; Management is Rude. On Wednesday, 04 January 2012, I entered Sherwood Ace Hardware to purchase a Stihl MS211 chainsaw. I had been quoted this model at a price of $199.95 over the phone on Monday, and then told in person by Ken that the price was 199.95 as I handled the chainsaw. I went home to think about the purchase and compare with other products, Husqvarna, Echo, etc. I decided on the MS211 because it met my needs (tree felling and firewood cutting). I went in on the evening of Wednesday, 04 Jan 2012, to purchase the chainsaw. At the register the price came up as $279.95, not $199.95 as I was twice quoted. It turned out that the stickers were in the wrong place. I asked for the manager, Alan, whos communication was short and irritated with me. After explaining the situation with Ken present, Davids only response was "279 is the price." I then explained that I always go to ACE before Lowes or Home Depot even though ACE only has what I need 30% of the time because I like the people and the smaller feeling in the store. Davids only response was "Well we fail you 70% of the time, so this shouldnt be a surprise. Have a nice night." and walked away. The MANAGEMENT at this store has no customer service. They may market themselves as "the Helpful Place", but this Ace Hardware is not at all. I didnt even want the saw for $199.95, I just wanted to have a reasonable conversation, but I got nothing of the sort from Alan. I left the store and drove to Lowes where I purchased a Husqvarna Model 435 for $279.95 and it has done a great job. I called Aces customer service line and spoke with Stefan, who was very helpful. I filed a complaint against this store. Stefan contacted the store owner and district manager and gave them my story and contact information. He said one of them would contact me directly. As of today, I have not received a call. It is obvious this stores management and owner do not care about providing their customers with quality experiences or maintaining their customer base. I will not be going to Sherwood ACE Hardware again even though I live only 0.6 miles away; nor will my father or brother. I suggest you do not go there either.

How do they make any money closing at 6pm??? I told the cashier that they close too early and he said "no they dont!" He told me, "only toothpick chewers come in after 6 oclock". They try to force you out of the store at 5:30. Prices are way too high. Lowes and Depot beat them in every aspect. If it wasnt for the post office built into this location they wouldnt have any traffic and would probably shut down.

When I need the right solution for the problem, this is where I go. Everyone is knowledgeable and eager to help you solve that problem you brought to them. No need to know anyone. These are good, smart, helpful, friendly hardware people who listen and focus on what you need.

Very friendly and very helpful. After having terrible experiences earlier in the day at both Home Depot and Lowes, I made the quick drive to ACE and do not regret it. Better prices, better service, less wait. I highly recommend this Ace hardware store!

My first visit ever to a Ace Hardware store. Not much from the outside & not a top hardware store inside, but the employees are very helpful. I most have been asked 6 times in a matter of 10-15 minutes if I needed help. Would I go back, "YES".

The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the selection is surprisingly good for a small store. Its a lot closer than the nearby Lowes and Home Depot super centers, so I visit frequently to purchase last minute project supplies.

An $8.00 minimum purchase if you need to pay with a card. I was at $6.80 and forced to buy stamps to make it $8. Im not sure thats even legal.... I guess thats one way to boost sales. Ill never go back here.

Convenient and much easier to get around than a huge big box store. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The only downside is that their prices are higher than you find at the larger big box stores.

Does its job as the neighborhood hardware store. However if youre looking for more granular tools, Home Depot and Lowes are the best bet. Plenty of parking outside.

Friendly staff, tons of hardware and home improvement items but the store layout can use some de-cluttering. Very convenient location.

A little expensive. But to not have to traipse all the way to the big box stores is worth it. And they sell and service small engines
