After shopping at Ulta for quite some time and not using any of my rewards points. I was asked if I would like to book a free facial that I could purchase with my rewards card (because of the points I supposedly racked up). So I proceeded in booking the so called "free facial". I announced to the woman booking it, including the woman who was supposed to be doing the facial that I was looking to use my rewards card on the services I was receiving. Well, nothing was said until I walked out and they charged me 65$ for the full service including pushing me for a tip rising the bill to nearly $80. It turns out that about 4 employees of Ulta conveniently forgot to tell me that for one, I could not use my card on the weekend and two, the woman who booked my appointment including the woman who told me I had enough points, as well, conveniently forgot to notify me that I was in fact 1,000 points away from a free "facial". When I brought up my concerns about how I was duped and scammed I was quickly brushed away and told there was nothing I could do and was refused a refund because I had been severely misinformed by a multitude of the employees there and this was my cearly my fault in the managers eyes. Another customer over heard my complaint, Im sure much to the salon managers chagrin. But I still cannot believe that I was duped out of $80 dollars! On second hand, I feel like this is my fault because Ive read numerous complaints about Ulta salons charging for services that were never announced to its misinformed customers. Sadly, this is their business tactic, ripping off tourist, including locals in the name of gaining 75$. Surely this tactic will be reflected in their ratings, I hope other people can become informed on the issues in Ulta Salons.

Worst salon experience Ive ever gone through in my life. I had booked an appointment for 4pm and they switched it an hour later without telling me first. I had to call the store to verify the time and THEN I was told they had changed my appointment time. After that 1 hour delay, the hair stylist cuts my hair and after showing her a picture of the color that I wanted, she comes back from looking for the right hair dye and tells me that they dont have the color necessary to dye my hair. EVEN THOUGH I HAD SHOWN THEM THE HAIR COLOR I WANTED A WEEK PRIOR TO MAKING THE APPOINTMENT. On top of that, I am explaining to her that I wanted red hair and she insists that the color in the picture is magenta. I have asked all of my friends and they agree the color in the picture is RED. After all of that time wasted they send me to pay for my haircut (which in my opinion should have been free after the whole inconvenience) and the hair cut alone was $37.00 with no tip. Never coming back again.

Customer service is terrible. One of the girls at the register was helping a customer (card problem took 5 minutes) and the other girl (blonde) at register who appears to be a manager decides to open register and count cash instead of helping alleviate the long line (which grew after she ignored me). Seriously?! Call for back up or something instead of having one register working. Oh, and another employee came over so manager asked her to come over to talk. Almost walked out, disappointed, but I really wanted the items I purchased since I made the drive. In the past, I usually get decent service not stellar but today was terrible. Definitely not going back for a while.

Got my hair done today by Jonathan and let me tell you my hair has never been more perfect! I told him I wanted to go back to a fun maroon red and he gave me his advice which was to highlight first and then color so I have different tones. He warned me ahead of time of the price because I was getting highlights too to make sure I was okay with it. After he finished the color he cut it for me and even gave me amazing layers. I can finally run my fingers through my hair again because it use to be long and dead. The color is incredible and the cut makes me look so much more mature Im in love! I highly recommend this place and Jonathan he did an outstanding job!

OPI-Geltastic!!!! After a week of a mani/pedi at a nearby nail salon, my nails had chipped severely. I was so aggravated simply because I was so in love with the color I really wanted it to last a lot longer than just a week for my hands. I decided to take advantage of Ultas OPI-Gel Nail service promotion going on thru 4/14/12. I was skeptical of the process, and the supposed instant dry claim. I could not have been happier. Pricila was the specialist handling my manicure. She was so pleasant, and informative. I am definitely coming back for this manicure again!

After a horrible visit with a salon worker (not sure if her name but she was a thin African American) I didnt return to the salon at Ulta for 5 months. To my joy I have found Josie, a sweet, proficient young lady who left my hair AMAZING! I got a bunch of compliments on it and have been turning heads! I am seeing her again, she did a fabulous job and is very attentive and personable as well. Only 4 stars due to salon front desk staff being rude as f**** as usual. Ulta is lucky to have Josie because she is the only reason I am returning.

I live in the Loop area and when I went there the store manager lady seemed like she didnt want to be there, and sales associates are not the most helpful, its like , " Im trying to spend money here" but they dont even try and when you ask for a product, they say "oh I dont think we have that here" and then I see it later on in the store. Im like " really people, why do you get paid for this" so Id advice to be more helpful and more caring. And actually try to seek the customers best interest, dont just be there to be lazy.

While the store itself is a 5/5, the salon inside the store is a 2/5. I went there a while ago to dye my hair (red ombré) and my hair was left damaged for months. The stylist over-bleached the entire back section of my hair, making it a silver instead of a blonde like the rest of my hair. The hair was dead and unmanageable (continuous brushing yet still the sensation of tangles). All 8in of the hair had to be cut off (after some growing). HOWEVER, the overall coloring and cut was done well and I loved.

I decided to have my haircutter, Anna, deal with my haircolor once and for all. I explained what I wanted, my issues and concerns, very clearly. I cane out with one color, a few shades lighter then mine, no visible highlights. I told her before I left that I was not happy. She suggested that I should come in later, and for $ 150 more, she could put in highlights. This in addition to the $300 she charged me. I could have done this very poor orangey job myself, with box color. Very unhappy
