If you need hardware, they have it. This is the last place that you can get treated like you live in rural Florida or Georgia- with service! I love the way they have a sign that states "no baggy pants" on the door! I also like the fact that the the gunsmith is a old crumdungeon and will tell it to you like it is. This is a hidden landmark of the way Jacksonville used to be. They wont put up with c*** from anyone. If you need stock work done, the gunsmith can have it done by one of the most talented stockmakers in the south- I know because the work I had done on on a flintlock that is phenomenal! Now, if you are looking for a gunshop or store that is like the "Star Wars Bar" tactical crap and pistol gripped AKs- you can find that just about any other store in Jacksonville, with a couple of notable exceptions... But if you want to be with some fellers and a cranky veteran that know guns and hardware like no one in the city and can tell you how to get the door repaired, screen patched, plumbing leak stopped or get guns or ammunition and get treated the home town way- this is the place.

I dropped off my BAR 7 MM at the end of Nov. it had started jamming on the reload cycle after each shot, I dropped it off and was told he would get to it when he could and then call me and tell me what he found ,I called at the end of Dec. thinking maybe he had lost my number or something and was told he hasnt looked at it yet , and he would call when he did, so now I wait on Jan.21st I called again to ask about it and was told it was ready to pick up. (No one called me) the next day I went to pick up the rifle and pay I was told it needed a cleaning and some part had broken ,(I cant remember the name of the part) he said he had never seen that part break on a Browning , only on Winchesters , I paid and left , when I got home I loaded it an attempted to shoot , on the 3rd shot it jammed on the reloading cycle , now I dont have any confidence in them so Im going to take it some where else (Gunsmiths Inc.) hope I can get it working right Ive had this rifle for 23 years and promise there hasnt been 200 bullet run thru it has always been in the house in a safe.

I havent actually been yet, but I read these reviews a while back and have been curious about this place. Well it just so happens that I need a rear dovetail leaf sight removed, so I checked a few places and most of them wanted to charge me $20 to do this. I am thinking man I can buy a set of brass punches from Shooters for $15, and a vise for $15. Why pay $20 when I could spend the extra $10 and own my own tools. So I called Curry-Thomas and asked and he said $5....Finally a place that is reasonable. BTW I tried to get the sight off myself by using some make shift methods, like covering the sight with cloth, but when I hit it with a steel hammer it just cut through the cloth and marred up the sight a bit. I tried using a wood dial, thats what my dad use to do, and it may have worked if I had a vice, but I had the gun between two 2x4s and was trying to hold it between my knees....LOL. My advice, either get the proper tools or go to Curry-Thomas Hardware.

The gunsmith who helped me is "old school." Yes, he was smoking behind the counter, and there is gunpowder not far down on the shelves. I didnt even have the 100-yr old model 12 Winchester with me, so I asked him how much he would charge to look at it. The answer was "nothing." Then he brought out a a model 12 much newer than mine and proceeded to show me exactly what he would do to repair mine. You wont find that at Shooters - if the Shooters guys think you are just looking, even if you are a regular, they wont give you the time of day. If you are looking for AK stuff go to Bullseye Gun on Atlantic and Univeristy. See Brian - hes a walking gun encyclopedia and will spend time with you. If you need a gun smith or brass for a .22 jet pistol, go to Curry Thomas.

Excellent Gunsmith ! Nothing short of 5 stars. It took him about one hour what Remington Factory - or the company they outsource to nowadays - could not fix in six(!) weeks which was making my new Model 700 feed the rounds correctly out of the internal mag one at the time. I paid only 25 bucks which is less than I previously spent on gas driving out and back to Gander Mountain several times. I sincerely hope that our senior fellow will be around for a long time.

Loved it! Lights inside are dim and not too bright. Clean. Organized. Employees dont wear uniforms so they are comfortable. I could feel the difference & I loved being in there, it was so much easier than being at a large hardware store. The prices for what I needed were very good. The service was efficient & accurate in assisting me with finding my items.

My husband, daughter and I love this store! The staff is very friendly and helpful. No matter what kind of little part we bring in, they always find exactly what we need. HIGHLY recommended. Dont go to Home Depot; stop by here and youll get better service and be out much faster.

Great place to get traditional hardware store items, as well as some hard-to-find tools. In addition, a fascinating gun store with a stupendous collection of mounted trophies! Very friendly service as well.

A great neighborhood hardware store, and a break from the giant "Big Box" home improvement stores that dominate our world. The staff is ready to help.
