On Labor Day weekend of this year (8-31-2013) we purchased a vehicle (2006 Chevy Cobalt LS). Because it was Labor Day weekend our mechanic was closed and so I carefully inspected for anything obvious (I’m by far no mechanic) and purchased the car. The car was driven to our house and parked until my mechanic had time to inspect the vehicle after Labor Day. As luck would have it the car was inspected and had numerous major problems that only a true mechanic would have caught. Problems ranged from VERY bad transmission, water in oil/gas as well as oil in other internal areas of the engine. My mechanic’s advice was to JUST drive it back home, contact the dealer and if an agreement is reached have it towed back to the dealership. In my mechanics words they sold us a car that was suppose to be operable and IT SHOULD not be operated. After numerous failed attempts to talk to the G.M./Owner we went back to the dealership (30 miles-one way) following the Cobalt “in-tow”. Once there we were told that we could ABSOLUTELY NOT HAVE OUR MONEY BACK. After a lengthy day of haggling over the car/money he finally agreed we could pick through his choice of 2-3 cars of similar value. After taking the choices they had given us to a mechanic in there area (our area not allowed) we pick the best of the worst. It was a 2001 Saturn L200. We only selected the car because despite the numerous problems, with extra money, they agreed that “Only Their Mechanic” would fix ALL the problems. In the weeks following we made 4 trips after having been told each time on the phone that all of the problems we have been discussing was completed and ready for pick up only to arrive with the car not finished and the part(s) not there. Those trips alone equaled 240 miles traveled for nothing. Well it has now been 27 days and we still have no car. One of the hold ups is because they still haven’t received a compressor for the air conditioner. This was extra maddening especially since they told us to give an additional $100.00 to purchase the item and to have one of there people go to Orlando to pick it up. As of the next phone call to Tropical Motors (9-25-13) they told us they never have their people pick up parts that they are delivered? Additionally since waiting all this time we found out that the Blue Book value for this car they are supposedly fixing up for us is worth less than half of the money they were originally given for the Cobalt. (Original Amount: 3613.78 – Blue Book value on car Saturn WHEN fixed $1509.00). Today’s (9-26-2013) call to the dealership resulted in the response that the mechanic was out sick and that the owner’s girlfriend went into labor. Again the receptionist said however the car may be ready for picked up tomorrow. I could absolutely kick my self for purchasing the first vehicle, its in my name though it is intended for my grandson who has saved this money for several years. We have been raising him since he was 1 year old, He’ll be 18 on October 9th. He was just chomping at the bit that day and so I caved in. My wife and I suffer from numerous illnesses (ME: post stage-4 head/neck cancer & colon Cancer, Wife: suffers from MS. & major back trauma) That day was long and is way we caved into our sweet grandson. We are currently dealing with our own car maintenance issues, mortgage modification, huge doctor bills (W/on-going illnesses) so we are unable to help him financially. At this point we think that our money should totally be refunded or at the very least we should be given the “fixed” Saturn as well as an additional $1500.00 to compensate our Grandson for overpayment on a cheaper vehicle.

The owner ripped me off for 5,700 on a 2001 Cadillac then called the cops on me- he lied about an engine repair and treated me like dirt. All employees were scumbags especially the tall blonde douchey sales guy that called the cops. I am going to sue you scammer statute of limitations is 2 years- this sale happened April 2013 after I wrecked a car. Sold me a car for 4,000- the engine blew up within a week. After almost 2 months of lying and 1,700 buck I got back a car that guess what still overheated and had no new engine. I will keep posting about this. I am a single parent with a disabled child. SCUMBAG burn in hell. Within 2 days after purchasing the car for 4.000 cash I noticed the car ran very hot. I called Tropical Motor Sales and was told by the owner Nicks wife that Darwin the mechanic would look at the car. I was told it was the water pump and I would need to pay them 55.00 to buy the part. I left the car there and had to call numerous times before I was told that the car was ready. I picked it up and the car still ran hot. I took it to a Firestone and was advised that radiator fluid was leaking into the engine ( blown head gasket)- a family friend paid Tropical Motors 1,700 to fix the engine. My nightmare had begun- I dropped the car and the money off in May- I did not get the car back until JUNE. I took it to the Firestone to verify the repairs had been done and was told that the engine had never been replaced. The car was still running HOT and pretty much useless. I called and spoke to Nick at least 10 times from April-June 2013 and he acted very inconvenienced that after spending 5,700 I would want a car that actually ran. I know I must be a JERK right? His "wife" was one of the rudest people I ever met and if she hadnt been pregnant I would never have let her speak to me so rudely but I have manners and would never stress a pregnant woman out. I hope her and her husband realize that their bad rep is spreading and that their scam will come to an end. One of the worst things? They advertise their cars on Craigslist as private owners and get their salesmen to use their cell numbers as the contact. Once you meet the salesguy off the lot they tell you it is a used dealer car. I had just been in a serious accident and was taking a lot of medication and was not thinking clearly- I trusted the wrong car lot. However I have bought 5 used cars from lots over the years and this is the first one that ever screwed me over and acted like soul sucking demons over money. Be warned NEVER NEVER buy a car here.

Bought car but radio was to be replaced the next day. Next day raining and tech was not working. Came next day and they put a car detailer replacing the radio. It was not an easy change because speaker did not work. They put in a radio that falls out of dash and ran wires to the front speakers. They found that an amplifier needed to be replaced and I was to come back in two days but that night, the owner and salesman were whinning about they werent making enough money on the deal and that the detailer spent all day working on the car and didnt feel they needed to do anymore and that maybe I should accept their giving me my money back. I insisted the problem be fixed properly. I came back 2 days later and owner didnt want to hear about the problem and was rude and in my face when I was trying to calmly explain about the situation and that I had done 3 hours of research about the problem this car has with the radio problem. It took special knowledge to make it correct and he was going to put the detailer back on it but through me out of his office and told me he wasnt going to fix the problem. I am going to sue him in small claims court. I am just saying that you do not want to trust anything the owner says about correcting any problems in the deal. Because they didnt make the money they wanted on the deal that they offered, and I accepted, they dont feel they need to make things right and that there is nothing I can do about it because I bought it "as is". But, the bill of sale has on it that they are to replace the radio. Got it in writing. Get anything they are going to do, in writing. Best thing is to buy someplace else.
