We purchased a server and an Eclipse 15 and have been quite pleased with both products. The server, a quad-core XEON monster, has proven itself quiet and reliable. The Eclipse is my main machine now. Lotus is small and customer focused enough to build to specifications; wed requested a hardware-only option (no OS) with the 1080p screen. Ive been running Ubuntu 12.10 without incident for four months. Linux is now mature enough to support all of the special features of these machines. Bumblebee unlocks the prodigious video capabilities, ergo "optirun google-earth". On the hardware itself, Im most impressed with the quality of the build. The keyboard quality and solidity rivals a Mac. The price is competitive with other makers for this tier of machine; however, with Lotus your dollars are supporting a small and growing American manufacturing company and discouraging corporate exploitation of slave-grade labor in laogai camps in China. Lotus is great choice for the discriminating casual, business, or game user who wants to encourage production of quality durable goods on America soil.

Pay the few extra dollars and go with a Mac or save a few bucks and go with a Lenovo. The battery is terrible on this laptop (Solstice 550; ~2hrs). The keyboard is too high and made permanent marks from my fingerprints on the screen. When I emailed the company about it their only answer was that theyve improved on newer models, basically under the context of "oh well, tough crap for you." Its a 1Tb hard drive but big deal, lots of laptops come with that storage these days. This is a relatively small operation, yes, building computers in the US... but the components of the computer itself are still foreign. Its not 100% Made in USA. Seems like a fly by night operation to me, I couldve just had computer engineers build me a similar model from scratch at Carnegie Mellon. *Responding to Lotuss response below: Rather than writing a book to explain yourself, which you felt the need to keep rambling on, justifying nothing, a partial refund would have been a better solution, and better customer service. Your rating loses yet another star, thanks for nothing.

It is a rare and wonderful thing to purchase an American built laptop computer, speak with the owner/builder directly in English which is clearly his first language or at least, of proficient enough level to seem so. He is a very nice person as well. Every time I called Lotus, the phone was answered by a live human and I never had to press menu selections nor did I ever sit and wait on hold. My new laptop is very modern and up-to-date with the newest technology and built to my specifications. It is by far the most sturdy and well-built unit I have even owned or had the privilege of operating. It is blindingly fast and capable of multiple simultaneous functions, which is a must for my research and writing. Lotus customer service is without equal and with excellent free setup advice I was able to maintain my desired privacy despite the newer operating system protocols. I could not have made a better choice than buying a Lotus PC and I highly recommend all of their products. I will not buy a computer from anyone else ever again.

I have had my Solstice 15 for almost a year now and am still in love with it. Compared to big overseas companies, Lotus offers what I consider to be higher quality builds and options. The fact that they offered Windows 7 on new builds was a major attraction to me since I wanted a new laptop, but not the new Windows 8. I originally found Lotus looking for a USA made company as I had recently had a terrible experience with another company. I took a leap of faith on Lotus, which I had never heard of before, but it was probably the best decision I could have made. Karel personally answers emails and is always available for questions. When you contact him, you get a quick and friendly response. Above the quality and performance of my laptop, I value the personal support most of all! When the time comes for an upgrade, I plan on coming back to Lotus!

I have had my Lotus computer for 2 years now. I have had an oddball experience in that I took my Lotus as my main computer in China. When projecting movies on Chinese TVs and ppts on Chinese projectors, I had some ACPI Bios issues that caused my computer to shut down. Instead of blaming it on the projectors or ignoring my requests by giving me a run around, Lotus was quick to respond to me with my unique problems. In the end, Lotus spent a weekend being on call while they walked me through reinstalling all my drivers and Windows 8.1! Additionally, my wife bought a Lenovo that has the exact same processor, and ram size as my Lotus, and my Lotus starts and runs much faster. I attribute it to the lack of bloatware on my Lotus. My only compliant is that it took a while for my hands to get used to the keyboard. Thanks Lotus for serving my family.

If you want a desktop computer or notebook consider American Made Lotus!! We purchased the Ultrabook after comparing similar specs to apple, sony, dell, ect. and found Lotus computers offers the best price, with the highest level of quality components, without all the added junk the big corporations throw in (that cant be removed, cause your computer to slug, and cost money to control). Compare for yourself in detail for example the processors. There are thousands of intel processors. Which one is in your computer for the money? Go to Intels website and find out. We are so impressed with this feather powerhouse computer we purchased the desktop Apex mini. The silent fan is almost as big as the computer, its lightning fast on start-up and shut-down, and no junk. For me and my wife we will buy American made!

Never got product - I was happy to buy an American assembled laptop and had heard good things about Lotus. The company was very responsive very time I called or emailed. However after placing an order in early Jan 2017 my order never shipped. Every time I called customer service answered promptly and said that they were waiting on some parts and my machine would ship in a few weeks. Almost three months later I was advised that Lotus was having a cash flow problem and couldnt fulfill my order. They then shut down their online laptop business and sent me a PayPal refund. I gave them three stars because they did a good job answering my calls and emails and I did get my money back, but its hard to rate them highly when it took months to find out I wouldnt be getting the product I paid for.

Purchased my Lotus laptop about 1 year ago. I have not been disappointed with the quality of the laptop or its performance. The fact that they do not cram a lot of "junk" onto the laptop like many of the other vendors do, speaks a lot to the companies focus being quality and performance at the best price when compared to similar competitor laptops. Additionally, the customer service received during purchase was attentive and focused to customers needs, with top notch execution. Finally, although it is not possible to purchase an American made laptop, having one that is assembled and tested in the U.S. is as close as one gets; highly recommend Lotus to consumers.

My Lotus Eclipse 13 was well worth the wait! Its a beautiful machine with a crisp display and Ive already run a few games on it, which have worked amazingly so far. I have to admit that I was wary at first because of the lack of a reputation Lotus has, but thankfully that seems to be only because the company is fairly young and that is changing. I hope this review will help others find their way to a great machine and company! Because not only is my new laptop great, but the customer service I got in the process was fantastic as well. At the risk of sounding even more like a commercial, thanks Lotus! :)
