I ordered flowers for Valentines Day at 9am with the understanding and commitment from Gordon Bonetti Florists the flowers would be delivered to a business no later than 430PM. "Yes that will be absolutely no problem" was their prompt response. I decided to go through with my order based on this promise and commitment after being turned away from a couple other flower shops who could not commit or turning away a couple others based on a loose commitment to the time frame. The 1 star rating kind of gives the end away. The flowers were not delivered until 530PM after my SO had already left for an appointment. She received a call from the delivery person at approximately 510PM telling her she was on the way and asking her to stay at the business for another 15 minutes so she could deliver them. This unfortunately was unable to happen due to prior commitments and the delivery person simply just left them at the business and had the office manager sign for them. I called the flower shop and told them of my frustration with the situation after being promised the time frame was absolutely no issue. The man with whom I was speaking with was very polite and sympathetic and offered the flowers be delivered to our home address instead so at least they could be delivered on Valentines Day. I was upset with the situation and broken promise, but felt this was a reasonable compromise. The flowers remained at her business. The flowers were never delivered to our home address. She was able to get the flowers this morning, a day late, after going back to work. I called the flower shop and spoke with the same man who I had been speaking with the day before, the same man who had promised to deliver the flowers before 430PM and the same man who said we could compromise after that expectation was not met and said we would have them delivered to our house. I informed him of my frustration with the whole situation and he immediately offered me a 25% discount ($40) off my order. I told him I felt this is unacceptable and wanted a full refund and explained I only placed the order with him based on his promise for a timely delivery. The service I was purchasing at that time was the timeliness, the flowers were a sub-purchase. He told me 25% is all he could offer as it barely covers his margins and if I wanted a full refund they would need to come pick up the delivery from her work and then they could process the refund. Ridiculous. The only way he could refund me was to make the situation he and the false and broken promise had created, was by showing back up at her business, picking up the delivery and making everything that much worse. It is hard to say just how disappointed I am with my experience with this vendor. Honesty and sincerity go a long way and neither was shown throughout the process. The initial conversation and the resolution today show margins and money are the driving force of this business, not relationships and making good on your promises.
