I ordered my cake from Marjolaine last week. I knew what I wanted however it was not exactly on the menu. I worked with Meredith the baker. My cake was fantastic, (even though she snuck in a little something that when tasted on its own I did not particularly care for) .... she knew what she was doing and knew that I wanted a lemon butter cream cake well to die for and one that would go down as the best my guests had ever tasted. Thank you Meredith for not listening to me doing it your way. Bravo.

Ive been eating Marjolaines cakes, cookies, & pastries for 20 years. Consistently excellent. Now with some fresh blood it is actually better. I am a local boy and Ive worked in the restaurant industry for many years. The antique entry bell was a gift 15 years ago, so I have a gratuitous relationship. The frivolous critiques I recently read inspired me to defend the best bakery of its kind we have in New Haven.

Really fun little shop, run by nice people. My fiancee and I were the first people to order the new sandwiches they are offering. It was light and tasty lunch fare, and the bread was made in a flaky croissant style. After wed had our meal the chef came over and took the time to ask us what we liked and didnt like and how they could improve.
