I went there this evening and there is absolutely nothing spectacular about this place. It was packed in there, as its a cramped little venue, and the line was well out the door. Took us about 15 minutes to even get inside the place, so youd think it may be worth the wait, right? Wrong. Now, they make the ice cream right there in front of you, so your order takes a little bit, but once you get it, youd better eat it in a hurry because it melts quickly... too quickly. I got my order, walked across the street to the car, and by the time I sat down in the passenger seat to eat it, saw that my scoop of ice cream was now chocolate soup, which had already melted down to the bottom of the bubble cone, through the bubble cone wrap, and onto my pants. I took a sip of the ice cream, noted that it at least, did in fact taste like chocolate; had a bite of the bubble cone, which tasted like a soft waffle cone, and threw the whole damn thing in the trash. Oh, and the plastic spoons available to eat your ice cream with are about as sturdy as a straw. The first (and only) time I used it, it folded in half. Awesome. The service here was eh...the girl who took my order was nice but the girl handing out the orders looked like she was about one bad customer experience away from pulling out a shank and stabbing someone. Im sure her only option for a shank was one of their plastic spoons though, so youd be alright. Wouldnt even break the skin. And to top all of this off, I had to listen to the entirety of that new, annoying Justin Beiber song ("Despacito," the one where he sings in Spanish) while waiting for my order. AND, I had to watch EVERY millennial employee in that place dance around and lip sync to the whole song, with the majority of them most likely having no clue with regards to what any of it means. Also, 90% of your toppings are various sugar cereals...super fancy. Not worth the wait or the $10, so do yourself a favor and skip this place...seriously. It is NOT worth all the hype.

Extremely disappointed, I never even got to have the ice cream, let me explain my experience. I like most people saw the social media about milkcraft and couldnt wait to try it for myself. The Fairfield location is very far from me so justifying the over hour drive with an infant just didnt seem feasible. Then all of a sudden I saw that the West Hartford location opened, I was thrilled. This is still a 45 minute drive for me but seemed more plausible. My girlfriend and I decide to set a date go early and beat the lines and try this ice cream for ourselves. After my 45 minute drive I had to park two blocks away from milkcraft, so naturally I place my son in a stroller and walked over. Once I got to the door I was meet by an "ice cream bouncer" who rudely told me I was not allowed in the store. I laughed thinking that was a joke but then she told me that I was not allowed and that I cannot bring the stroller inside. I stood next to another patron trying to enter who was just as shocked as I was. She a mom herself decided to take her business elsewhere due to this interaction alone. Once my girlfriend arrived she also had a stroller so we had no other option but to leave we, since walking back 2 blocks to put the strollers away and carrying our kids was not an option, and not for nothing but the "bouncers" rude attitude put a bad taste in her mouths. If this really is a policy theres a better way to explain that to a customer then discriminating against a woman and her child. The area is high traffic for people walking, families and especially strollers. Nowhere else had an issue . So on that note I highly recommend Hartford bakery co. which is next to milkcraft and allows all women and children with or without strollers.

Heard about this place in a news article and decided to give it a try. Upon entering we were instructed by a greeter to walk to the back and get in line there. There is only one menu and it is squeezed into the back near the register which made it difficult to decide before at the counter. The prices were pretty outrageous ($4.95/1 Scoop; $6.95/2 Scoops; $8.95/3 Scoops; $7.95 for Bubble Cone w/1 Scoop; $6.95 for Creme Bun w/1 Scoop) While waiting for our ice cream we were told we needed to make room for others to get in line. The place is very small and there was no other spot for us to wait. My wife and I ordered just "2 Scoops" of PB&J with Roasted Banana. The picture below is exactly what we got. We saw others walk away with their bubble cones and saw they almost exactly the same amount. After asking if we had gotten the correct amount for what we ordered, the girl didnt even look at our cup before saying yes and turning to do something else. The taste was okay, but it did melt quickly and the banana piece we had got with it was a half slice only 2 inches long. I would not recommend going here. Maybe for a one time experience and then realize that it would be better to go to Ben & Jerrys around the corner.

Milkcraft serves a higher quality ice cream than their more conventional competitors (Ben and Jerrys, Carvel, etc). The company uses liquid nitrogen to produce their ice cream rather than the usual freezing method. This allows them to create a smoother ice cream than your typical Ben and Jerrys (accomplished by significantly reducing the size of ice crystals in their ice cream). They also make fresh batches of their hot fudge and whipped cream on site every morning. The quality of the ice cream and bubblecone is noticeably better in texture and flavor than your average ice cream and sets it apart from other brands. The whipped cream and hot fudge are also an incedible addition. Their ice cream is certainly an experience that is worth trying. That being said my only problem with Milkcraft is their pricing. When adding toppings like hot fudge and whipped cream it comes out to be $13 a cone ($10 for the preset toppings). I find that to be a bit pricey for ice cream so I likely will only go on special occasions or to show someone who hasnt been before. Thanks for reading

Most unpleasantness I experienced was simply because it was busy since they just opened this location. The only thing I have to say I didnt care for was the menu on the website does not follow the same flow as the one in the store... There is one ice cream that does not come with toppings and unfortunately on the website it shows it with extra toppings so I mistakenly thought it came with them. But I wish they clarified it on the menu in-store, since a lot of the draw to this place is the elaborate toppings. The cone for me was basic. Its a waffle. My wifes was crispy like a waffle cone, mine was soft like a waffle. The ice cream making was cool to watch. But the ice cream didnt taste as good as the price suggested... I guess youre paying for liquid nitrogen and fancy toppings and a weird cone, more than great ice cream (dont get me wrong, it wasnt bad). It did melt fast though, since the cone was warm. Not excited to see how that works on a day its actually hot outside. Will try again when this place calms down.
