Im not one to write reviews at all but I felt that I had to this time. I wanted to let people know about the type of sneaky and unprofessional person the store manager is. Up until last December 2015, Ive been taken my dog for grooming at the East Hartford Petsmart location. The groomer my dog had for years suddenly left before Christmas so I had to get someone else to bathe my dog. I called the store and asked for permission to book my dog with an experienced groomer that has worked there for years (apparently GROOMERS dont bathe dogs per Petsmart Policy). Once I got the approval from the assistance manager, I got my dog to the location for a bath and thats when the nightmare began. First, they couldnt check me in because the store manager had placed a restriction on the computer so she had to be contacted ONCE I got there. Secondly, the person doing the check in was not only rude but very unpleasant (tattoos and bad attitude). Third, once the manager came in to remove the restriction so I can be checked- in, she was also very rude and had a huge attitude with me almost as if reprimanding me for requesting a particular groomer. I finally got to leave my dog for grooming. When the time came to pick my dog up, I noticed that he was shrivering and very scared. He just wanted to get out of there asap. Though his behavior made me wonder what could had happened, I had to get back to work and left without saying anything. Later on that day, I called and asked to speak to the groomer I had requested for my dog. She assured me that she was NOT able to bathe my dog per the store managers orders. She told me that the person that ended up bathing my dog was the tattooed person that checked me in -the one with the big attitude. I immediately contacted the corporate offices for Petsmart and filed a complaint against the store manager and the way I was treated. I also made a statement about my dogs behavior at the time of pick up. I was told that the issue would be brought to the store managers attention but the manager that contacted me about the issue was the hotel for dogs manager..duh!! . Nothing was ever resolved. The good thing is that I found a better place for my dog to get groomed. Theyre really nice and honestly care about any Pet you bring to them. The place is called The Doggie Castle in Cromwell, CT. CHECK IT OUT :)

I will NEVER return to PetSmart again! I also want it to be known that I have never written an online review in my life but this experience was so horrible that I couldnt help myself. I have been taking my 3.5 year old Yorkie mix to PetSmart grooming for over 3 years now. On an off I have had minor issues- but nothing that prevented me from returning time and time again. However, this past Sunday was different. I dropped my dog off for a 12:30 grooming appointment (that I had set a week before) and was told they would call me when they were finished, which was the usual routine and normally takes 3 hours or so. After 4 hours of not hearing anything, I went to the store to check on my dog and when one of the employees came back from checking, she apologized and said that she doesnt know what happened but my dog had not been groomed. She confirmed with me that he had been sitting in the crate in back for 4 hours and completely ignored. She called the manager in, who was apologetic but said he could not offer me an explanation and would comp my next appointment. I was so upset that I couldnt say much and just left the store and will never go back. How could an entire staff of professional groomers, see a dog sitting in a crate for 4 hours and not think to check on his status or call me?? What if I hadnt showed up at the store when I did? I am still just as upset by this today as I was yesterday and plan to tell everyone I know who currently shops at PetSmart and uses the services at this location, about my experience and encourage them not to go back. Do not trust this place to take care of your animal.

Ive interacted with all the areas of this store and theyve been fantastic. First, I bought stuff. Cashiers were friendly and dealt with grumpy people doing an exchange because of $0.20 difference in a can of cat food. Next day, I needed to do an exchange of a cat carrier and the manager opened the next register to speed things along. She was cool, asked usual questions and let me exchange for next size up even though I opened the item. Third, the vet hospital staff were friendly and smart. My cat needed to get up to date on shots to start in the hotel. Finally, Hotel staff seems chill and strict. My cat will be there for 2 weeks while I fly back to Colorado to help move my household. Overall, great experience. Staff might have tats and ear piercings, that doesnt bother me since 95. My gut feeling is these bad reviews were basic peps - BMW or Audi drivers with pampered mini dog and were mad they could not take the perfect groomed Chihuahua photo on their latest iPhone to post to FB. Hahaja... No worries. I read the content and can sniff out a bad bad review. Pun intended.

I usually try not to give a bad review, it could have been just the particular employee we dealt with and the timing of our visit. My 6 year old and I went on a Sunday, the store had very little inventory of animals, the pricing seemed to be a bit higher than other chains and the one employee we were able to find didnt seem to be very knowledgeable about when new animals would be coming in or about the animals themselves. The employee was not approachable, they were not rude, but they werent very charming either. I dont expect the employees to all be experts or for them to kiss my butt, but I do expect some level of knowledge and personality. Overall, the visit was kind of depressing and we left the store not really wanting to go back. Also, all the hermit crabs had painted shells, most pet store chains are steering away from painted shells due to the toxicity of the paint to the hermit crabs.

So much better than Petco... In every way possible. They are recently revamping new employees. Much better than before. Good progress. PetSmart has a list of problem customers who always cause trouble, always trying to return stolen items and sue happy people in general; and all these bad reviews have come from those particular customers exactly. The same exact people as those problem people on their list. It just goes to show you, bad reviews are just people who are so used to having their complaints heard they think they matter. They can complain to corporate all they want, corporate knows better than to listen to these slanderers. Everyone I know LOVES this particular PetSmart! Go with God, people.

Extremely disappointed with their services. I left my dog in the hotel program and when I checked her the next morning I found her with poop all over her private area. Also, they didnt apply the proper meditation (a chewable one, that can be thrown from a decent area) at the moment that she needed with the excuse that she was growling to the staff and they are mandated to watch the dog consuming the medication but they were afraid to get close to her. I think they can watch her consuming the medication with enough space between the staff and my dog. In the end I found their services with a bunch of excuses and a huge lack of professionalism.
