We brought our 110 lb American Bulldog in to be groomed. We chose to wait and shopped until contacted. When I went to pay the manager who happened to be at the register, they brought out my dog. I went to pet him and he was wet and smelled like wet dog in from the rain. His hair covered my hands. I showed this to the Manager and she stated that it was perfectly normal for pets under distress to shed (Why was my pet under distress I asked myself?) The manager then signaled to a man to get the furminator and the cologne spray (Like that ever takes care of the wet dog in from the rain smell) My husband walked the dog to the car while I made a purchase. I came out of the store to find my husband picking the dog up into the car and I questioned him why he couldnt get into the car himself. My husband highly upset stated we need to take him to the vet immediately there is something terribly wrong with the dogs leg. After receiving the news at the vets office that my dogs leg was fractured and had a full ACL tear and the cost of everything (surgery and recovery) was about $3000 we contacted Petsmart the same day of service. Petsmarts General Manager explained to me that the Manager of the Grooming dept notified her of the accident and they were just waiting to hear if the dog was actually hurt when they dropped him off the table. That is correct, DROPPED HIM OFF THE TABLE. No report was given to me during pick up of any problems staff was full of smiles, they took my money and let me walk out the door with hope I wouldnt notice. It has been over a year now and my three year old dog will never be the same he walks with a permanent limp and will eventually have hip problems from favoring one side more than the other. Yes, they paid for the surgery without question. But 10 years of a bum leg and the developments from that, are on me.

To clarify several inaccuracies in other reviews: 1) There is no doggy day care at this location. (Perhaps they thought they were reviewing the E. Hartford location, which does have one?) 2. This is a PETSMART not a PETCO. (So is the info about this store & thats just a typo, or is the info about a Petco & they put the review in the wrong place?) 3. Ive spent a LOT of time here over the last 4 yrs, between being a volunteer cat care person & volunteering at the dog adoption events here, & Ive never encountered the smell of hundreds of dead fish! 4. They do NOT have puppy & kitten mill animals here, @Sue H.! RESCUED dogs & cats are ADOPTED, thru 2 local RESCUES, with Petsmart providing the space for this to happen! (And this person is a "local guide"?!!) 5. The whole review about the "stupid" dog that couldnt be trained (sounds like human failure!) leading to divorce etc. is totally bogus, just like all the rest of this guys reviews. (@Samuel Baum) Sounds like a country music song!

I just bought a new puppy, an AKC pure bred Black Labrador Retriever. Its been 19 years since I raised a puppy and some techniques on training and medical wellness have changed a lot. The manager, trainer, and the Banfield Veterinarian Hospital have been so very helpful in answering all my questions and making suggestions as to house train the puppy , crate train the puppy etc.... I highly recommend using PetsMart. They offer you a Puppy Starter Kit which is filled wit so many coupons , you save up yo $235.00. Plus the Banfield Veterinary Hospital is a great deal less expensive to use to maintain your puppys health versus using a local private Vet and everyone at PetsMart are very friendly and are happy to help you with any problem or situation you may have.

Another pet store to buy animal supplies from. Although I would caution people buying animals from any of these big box pet stores. Please do your research first before embarking on purchasing a pet. Some, not all, of the employees know their facts on the animals. I have gone into many of these stores and have listened to what some employees tell prospective pet parents- from inaccurate health information, to wrong cage setups, to wrong pet for child. This Petco seems to be better than some of the other ones that I have frequented. Their animals seem to be well- cared for with the exception of the fish. I do not buy fish from any Petco because they always seem to die!

I have brought all my dogs including my grandmothers long haired dog to the groomers at pet smart. We have never had an incident with them and the dogs have always looked and smelled great. I even brought my dog who was severely abused and very scared to them and they treated her wonderfully and even mentioned that she was having some back sensitivity which was the start of what would be a slipped disc. They are always able to get us in on short notice and I feel the price is good-not great. Then again I feel that I pay for the ability to call up and get in within a few days and it is five minutes from my house. I would highly recommend them

Petsmart grooming was excellent. My Australian shepherd had a ton of fur and with his high energy I was sure he was not going to tolerate being groomed, but at pick up they had nothing but good things to say about him. The pawgress report is extremely helpful as it tells you what was done and what length he was trimmed, in case you like the look and want it again. Not only did Knox look amazing, but they also made it a pleasant experience for him, and I have no doubt he will actually enjoy future grooming appointments. The price is very reasonable and he was groomed and ready for pick up in a very timely manner. I will be bringing him back.

Joanne the groomer is so good with our little yorkie. After a bad experience at another groomer, I brought my little guy to Petsmart hoping to get the bad haircut "fixed." Not only did he look great afterwards, but he absolutely loves Joanne, and even holds still while she trims his nails-- something that hubby and I have been thus far unsuccessful at! She has over ten years of experience and uses scissors/sheers instead of only clippers, which I think creates a neater appearance. This groomer is friendly, professional, doesnt overcharge, and comes with our highest recommendation!

Since the addition of a great Banfield Pet Hospital it seems PetSmart has stepped up their game as well. As someone aspiring to be a veterinarian, they treat the animals with care and are very understanding for pets that have a harder time behaving. Their products are fairly priced for the most part, every purchase Ive made has provided what I paid for. It really is good for a local chain

I dont actually buy any products here, however they do have a dog nail clipping service that is pretty good. My doggo can be a real jerk about getting his nails trimmed so rather than struggle with it at home Im alright with paying so have some one else do it. Plus they grind/file off all the rough edges afterward. Staff is super friendly and my dog always enjoys his end of visit treat.
