Very disappointed in the customer service. Ive only been here twice. The first experience was pleasant but the second was everything short of. I brought my Mother and two brothers in (who had never been before) and the girl at the cash register was so rude. She was very short with us and out right snobby when I didnt hear her call "next in line" she rang the bell.. I hurried along to the counter and apologized. She said "I just have to keep the line moving"... the music was blaring so loud I couldnt even hear her. I remained friendly by asking what different kinds of selections I could make and she was really disinterested and trying to rush us out! It wasnt even busy at the time.. maybe a handle full of people behind us. Then I went to give her my credit card and she firmly tapped the sign on her registered and said its "cash only"! Me not realizing this I apologized again. In which she replied "its posted right here and over there".. pointing at another sign in the front. (Luckily my mom had cash)To top it all off my mom wanted to do her own order...she was more than irritated about it. Not really wanting to answer any question on the different flavored doughnuts also bothered by my mom wanting to purchases a water at the end of her transaction. As we were leaving we didnt even get so much as a "Thank you". Sadly places like these dont care about a bad experience where you feeling awkward and uncomfortable. The dont make customer service a priority they know regardless customers will continue to come because they do provide such innovative yummy donuts. Thats why Im giving two stars. The doughnuts are good but this batch was a little on the dry side... like they been sitting out for a day.

Ive tasted 5 different doughnuts from here but have not been particularly impressed with any of them. In general, they seemed equal to ordinary doughnuts, perhaps slightly better in that they are larger and have a generous amount of icing. However, I personally do not think they are worth the wait. The vanilla cream filling did not taste very good to me. For most of the doughnuts I tried, I could not pick out any distinct flavors of the various toppings -- for instance, "Chuckles". All I could really taste was a generic sweet icing flavor which was disappointing because I was attracted to the unusual toppings. For "Voodoo Bubble", the menu says it has bubblegum powder but at most there was a barely perceptible bubblegum flavor for a couple of bites. Two of the yeast doughnuts I got were somewhat misshapen and dilapidated. I did think the cinnamon crueller was above average though. Also, I could taste the butterfinger topping on "Butterfingering". I did not try any of the cake doughnuts. The servers were very nice, not at all how some reviewers reported. Some customers were taking forever, pointing to just about every single doughnut to ask what it was (this is at the front of a huge line, with everyone looking on having waited a long time). A tall guy with blue hair very patiently, politely and enthusiastically described every doughnut. The prices are fair when you consider their yeast donuts are larger and heavier than average. The store has interesting ambiance and artistic designs on the boxes and merchandise. When I am in Denver again, I might have to try it one more time. I really want to like these doughnuts.

Food 3.5 stars. Service 1 star. Price 1 star. I have had the doughnuts about three times. Each time I thought, "Wow this is ... okay. Why did I pay so much for it?" Once I went in on a Monday morning to get doughnuts for my coworkers. I suppose I should have checked whether they were open before I went. But hey it was a MONDAY MORNING and I was headed to a DOUGHNUT SHOP. They werent open for business, but the story doesnt end there. The door to the place was wide open. So I walk in, and an employee behind the counter sees me but says nothing. Theres some action in the back--things banging around, etc. Im thinking about what to order. Probably a mixed dozen. Finally the employee says "Can I help you?" and I reply "an assorted dozen, please." "We arent open on Mondays!!" she says, and LAUGHS IN MY FACE. If youre not open, why did you let me stand there like a fool for thirty seconds? Why did you laugh at me for not knowing that, when the door was wide open? Lamars Doughnuts on Kalamath and 6th is a better bet. Better food, better service, better hours, and they take credit. Leave Voodoo to faux-hipsters.

Id been to the location in downtown Portland and loved it, so imagine my surprise and delight when I found out that there was one in Denver! Not surprisingly, it was in a funky area of town (the only place during my trip to Denver where I saw people with colored hair) and there was a dispensary next door--a marriage made in stoner heaven, apparently. There was quite a line when we got there around 9pm or so, which was ok because it gave us time to take a good look around and also figure out what we wanted. Turned out, we wanted everything, lol. My four friends and I ended up ordering 13 donuts, which came to almost $40! Yes theyre pricey but theyre made with good, fresh ingredients and held up pretty well for the next few days. I dont remember ALL the donuts we got, but the standouts for me were the Portland Cream, the Dirty Ole Bastard, and, of course, their maple bacon bar--mm. Their signature Voodoo Donut Im not a huge fan of--I dont like jelly filling but I do love the idea of a donut voodoo doll. I was bummed they were all out of The Gay Bar.

Picture an uneventful Monday filled with the standard daily strains and pains that most of us all go through daily. I get home late form work downtown. Staring at my outdated popcorn ceiling at 3 in the morning, visions of sweet dough saunter through my mind. I know where to go. I suit up for the night and whatever Colfax and throw at me and I ventured out into the sleepless streets. A sweet pungent aroma greets me to the block where pink building stands erect. Like a Doughnut myself, I stood in awe with a glazed expression. Jeff received me with a warm welcome and helpful attitude. He was very successful in aiding me in all my sugary-coated endeavors. Jeff is the best. Working at 3 in the morning to diligently help a wretch like me? He is my savior. I could not have asked for more pleasant, competent and affable assistance if I knew how. I exit the store with a certain pride and excitement that most who carry pink boxes have. My step is even lighter as I make my way back to my home. The streets finally seem settled and at peace.

Yeah so Ive always wanted to try voodoo donuts. Decided to go finally while in Denver. Tuesday afternoon at 4 pm theres still a line going just out the door, whatever. Line doesnt take too long but still. I expect the donuts to be more expensive then the grocery store but um 22 bucks for a dozen of the good kind?!! Are you f**king kidding me?!!! No donut is worth that unless its gold plated. I was rushed by the cashier. I spent almost $15.00 bucks to get a random box of crap flavors that I didnt even get to pick. I go to hand her my card and she tells me they only take cash. Um.....are you serious? Its 2015! Theres a little thing called a square card reader that attaches to a cell phone or iPad so you can take cards. The bathroom attendant at beta nightclub takes cards for f**k sake, but a donut shop that busy doesnt??? Yeah, okay then. So I have to go over to the ATM on the other side of the room and pay a $2.50 ATM fee. Donuts werent even that good. Never again will I return!!!!
