When the first opened in 2007 I was so excited. I work one block from them. It was clean and had lots of merchandise. But I quickly found that the clerks were mean and rude. So I spoke with the manager and she excuse their behavior! Then I had to do returns and OMG you would have thought I was a terrorist. The manager actually orders the staff to phone her if books are being returned even though there is absolutely no policy refusing returns of books. I asked a clerk later about the managers attitude and the clerk said "Oh, shes like that about ALL returns." A retail manager who doesnt like returns? Shes in the wrong business. Then I began seeing signs up that any seasonal item is not returnable. If you shop there as frequently as I did, these policies and management behavior matter quite a bit. The anti-customer attitude seep down from management into the staff and you begin to feel a very adversarial air about the place. I spoke to a woman at a party who is a wedding planner and she said that she wont even shop there though she also lives very close. Why, I asked? "Theyre mean." You mean theyre rude? "No, mean. You cant ask questions (of them and their merchandise) without being harassed." Their "volunteers" range from really nice to really emotionally questionable. Why spend my income to pay someone who will harass me and not appreciate my business. The manager Joyce and two employees Kat and Sophia are the worst. See for yourself. Kat has all the flaming orange hair and Sophia is a nervous twitch who bosses everybody around. Joyce is just plain weird, odd, strange and unprofessional.

The staff here are paranoid and suspicious. I go here almost 5 days a week bc I live so close, I try to keep a lookout for rare treasures. I do not make a purchase EVERY time I go here, tho I do buy frequently. I am the epitome of a loyal customer. I understand how my frequent visits and less frequent purchases could look suspicious(possibly) but I DO make purchases and should not be made to feel like a criminal for not making a purchase EVERY trip. I cannot afford that. I usually follow all rules regarding maximum items in the dressing room, and having been in retail before, I am polite and courteous in always rehanging clothing. I have never and would never steal from any place ( esp a charitable foundation) and have never so much as left an empty hanger or torn tag as "evidence" of theft in a dressing room. That being said- one woman who works here ( who is a special needs adult w an embarassing gas problem) frequently accuses me of theft and even once had an LP associate require me to open a dressing room IN ONLY MY UNDERWEAR to inspect and ensure I only had the allotted number of items. I did and nothing came of it, as I was following all rules and not stealing...but she wont let it go. While Im in the store she frequently alerts staff to my presence. I have considered not coming here because of this, but I have done nothing wrong so I am not shook by this womans paranoia. Prices are a bit high, but have found some great pieces.

So, when I get home with my new over priced finds, would it be to much to have a tag with glue that does not actually fuse on to the freaking item. REALLY... I mean, hot water, goo gone, and elbow grease should do... I know you dont like tag changing but this is RIDICULOUS! ALSO Hey, People who work there, Neiman Marcus is in Cherry Creek, your got your merchandise FREE, most of it anyway, and your labor cost is cheap, high profit for a non profit.... Really!?! If I want to pay Needless Mark Up Prices, Ill wonder over a mile or two... THRIFT = Cheap... The lady told me if I got (three items to make a fountain) at Hobby Lobby, it would be triple the price. BUT AT HOBBY LOBBY THEY PAY FOR THEIR MERCHANDISE, and I bet I could get the FREAKING tag off of the ceramic pots! GRRRRRRRR -- What happened to crap for a dollar? SO, if my random afternoon project fails, I dont have $38 wrapped up in it.. FREAKING REALLY.. $5 in a failed project, Ill just throw it away.. $38 means I could have just bought a brand new one at HOMO DE POT unwrapped it from the plastic, add water, and have much less stress, while probably saving a buck or two.. SHAME SHAME.. in the Karma game. It makes me not want to give you my gently used items to get good will, the dumpster divers love free items as well, and they dont argue with me over the freaking price.

I should say I am the expert at finding good stuff (just ask me, lol!) for over 35 years dedicated. Anyway, this is a good hit n miss place for collectibles, antiques or vintage stuff! I am not crazy about the basement stuff, always to me at least close to dumpster quality particle board and modern junk that surprisingly, does sell. Their aisles of pottery, glass, plate ware, pic frames are ever changing. I recommend speaking to Debbie in furniture, she priced something lying around outside which was perfect for a gate for me. it is amazing what you can find there to "repurpose" and recycle! you cant beat them for their window dressing either! Just a neat place to while away part of a wintry day or go in spring to add to your decor! Plenty of parking, close to wonderful bookshops, the eateries and kitsch of Broadway. My favorite! Besides the "other" thrift rival which is of course, unmentionable here!

Why rules are meant to be broken, the classic example: You are driving in the middle of the desert; it is broad daylight; you can see for miles; the only thing on the horizon is a kangaroo. There is a 4-way stop ahead. Do you stop? Of course not. Why? The purpose of the rule is to prevent an accident. A reasonable person thinks and considers whether or not the rule applies. At that moment and in that place, you are omniscient: there is no possibility of an accident. This is an extreme example, but it suffices to illustrate the dichotomy. We can therefore say, with assurance, that because there are instances in which rules do not apply to you, you should not blindly obey them.

I absolutely love this thrift store. Its clean, well organized, and is stocked with higher end items than your average Goodwill but still at reasonable prices. You dont have to sift through rack after rack of junk for a few good items because everything is in decent or better condition. Its not just tourist t shirts and grandmas glass candy dishes either, you can find lots of very cool and stylish items whether youre looking for modern or vintage. On recent trips Ive found everything from a Betsey Johnson jacket to vintage Farah polyester jeans. This is my go-to store and if youre smart, its yours too.

Asked to see an item in the display. Waited a few minutes after they paged someone. Watched two employees have a hearty conversation in a language I couldnt understand. Laughing it up. I walked over, asked why it was taking so long. They got a supervisor. Spoke to him, Chris I believe, in same language I couldnt understand. Next to display I wanted to get something from. He said that the volunteers could come open it when one was available. I told them I would take my money somewhere else. That was just now. 6/15/2017 Guess who will be going to ARC, right down the street, from now on?
