With the recent recession/depression, it is sad to see an already overpriced grocer taking advantage. After seeing prices on some items at this store go up 40 percent in the last year, I decided I had to say something. Are people not paying attention? Boxes of kids Cliff bars used to be 3.69 up to 4.79. Chicken salads used to be outrageous at 9.99 a pound has recently gone up to 11.99. And the items they have not raised prices on, they have cut quality on severely. Their once excellent LOBSTER bisque no longer has any discernable LOBSTER chunks in it. Their organic produce is being replaced more frequently with conventional. Their croissants...oh my. Half the size and double the price! 2.99 for a croissant now! You can get a 6 pack of croissants at King Soopers for 5.99 and they are no different since the croissants at Whole Foods are not organic anyway. Nor are they made in store that day. They are shipped from some baker in Denver that bakes for many grocers. My list of complaints about this place goes on and on and I have decided they have finally gone so over the top they have hit demand destruction. I am not particularly price conscious when it comes to food-I want the best. But I feel totally taken advantage of here. I am not going to pay 12.00 for a half pint of chicken salad. I am not going to pay 8.99 for a sandwhich. And I am sick and tired of the same tired entrees in the bistro-which have also gone up many dollars in the last few years. Customers complain on the comment board and always get the same answer "We strive for....blah blah blah." It does no good to complain. I have complained to be told that fuel costs are to blame. Ha! Fuel prices are half what they were last year and Whole Foods still has not adjusted their prices to bring costs back into line. And after all the construction in the parking lot-it still sucks. I am just "over it" as many other people seem to be because the place seems dead all the time now, except for Sunday.

I have received some bad service at this store in the past but never complained, but today was the last straw. I went to the breakfast counter this morning (where they make you fresh breakfast items) and started filling out my order form. The woman behind the counter tells me to leave it there on the counter and shed be right back. So I left it there and started to walk around a little bit. I came back and my sheet was still on the counter and she was taking a few more orders. She then puts my order behind those orders, I think 3 others in total. So I waited and waited without complaint even though Id gotten there first. Then another guy finishes up my order and stands there with his hands on my boxes of food while he chats with someone else behind the counter. FInally he notices me standing there, staring at him, and asks my name, I tell it to him and finally "Here you go" gives me my food. Then I get to work (15-20 minutes late now since waiting for my breakfast took a total of 25+ minutes from when I started filling out the form) and they forgot my fruit. So now ive not only waited longer than i should have because they FORGOT they ever saw or spoke to me, but now ive paid for something that i did not get. I will not be ordering breakfast here again. I would like to say I will not shop here, but the shop has a big selection of things that are hard to find elsewhere. Im hoping trader joes will help with that though. I will try to never come to this store again at least :).

I have shopped once a week for many, many years here. The employees are generally really good people and for the most part my experience has been positive. I have gotten to know some of the employees pretty well and look forward to seeing them every week. This past Thursday at the checkout counter I was told by one of these people that two checkout people who I have gotten to know well over the years and who are exceptional people, who give exceptional customer service were fired. I contacted one of them who had worked there for seven years and the reason for the firing was taking an extra five minutes at her break. They did not give either employee a warning and would not respond to an honest attempt to clear up the situation. The management of Whole Foods are hypocrites. They praise themselves as so employee friendly, they call the employees team members but this is not the way you treat people. If theres a problem and you have employees that are so well liked by the customers (and I know for a fact that these two employees were) you at least give them a warning especially for such a minor infraction. Whole Foods puts on a good front but they are not what they present themselves to be. The company that pretends to look so human is dehumanizing.

Out of all of the Whole Foods, this one is easily my favorite. It is much larger than the others and the hot bar and salad bar are unrivaled. The food is always fresh and hot and well maintained with anything you could want. The surrounding specific stations have mostly anything else with my favorites being the pizza and the ramen stations. The pizza is actually really good for its price, and the ramen station is even better with very good tasting broth and meats. I also really enjoy being able to pretty much build your own being able to gather things from the hot bar and theyll add em to anything for you if they dont have something specific youre looking for. The store is always stocked with everything and kept clean regardless of the time of day. Even going in during the peak times after work or during lunch you can still get in and out pretty quick. If you want any kind of food you want this is the place to do for fresh food, with a vast seafood and meat department and an even larger produce section which is great to get the rarer produce used in some dishes for cooking. Also for fresh pastas like ravioli and tortellini, there is no better place. Overall if you want it fresh this is your place.

Mostly over-priced. I know this because the employees get a DEEP discount on anything in the store. The employees are mostly friendly and helpful, and overall its a beautiful looking store. Whoever designed their parking lot need to go back to school, it is one of the worst Ive encountered. I would however like to point out that their attitudes towards employees, especially new mothers, is awful. Their legally required pumping station does not meet the laws requirements. They also seem to look to fire people at any excuse, without written warnings first or anything. They have mandatory 6am storewide meetings; Got a kid? Too bad, its mandatory. Be there or get in trouble. All in all, I miss Wild Oats. Whole foods doesnt hold a candle to them. I would like to point out that I am not a former employee who is disgruntled. I have never worked for Whole Foods. I just know a lot about them.

The Whole Foods on Pearl feels like a stage set. Departments are named like they are locally-owned, which they are not. The heavy marketing messages about living well, being green, and shopping local seem hollow when nearly everything is not from Colorado, the fish are from depleted seas, fruit is flown in from Chile, and this store is a huge competitor against locally owned restaurants and stores.Yes, they have the chocolate brand I love, and great natural meats, but Id get that stuff elsewhere if I could. Their staff are nice and knowledgeable but they also go over-the-top with fake commentary. One guy at the meat counter said "Im just a good ol boy from Longmont", as if that alone qualified him to advise on meat. The seafood counter staff in official marine fishing outfits adds further to the staged look.
