Love the store....nicest Safeway Ive been in with lots of gluten free, vegan and gourmet options. The store layout is appealing, however I witnessed an employee being treated horribly by a lead clerk tonight and could not find a website contact so Im posting publicly. As someone who has been in management for over 20 years, I was mortified by the way Joy spoke to a team member who was unloading a box near the bakery...so when you walk in the store he was in the department to the far left, front of store. She called him out for still being there at 2 minutes till 9pm and when he respectfully told her he was in a few minutes late and could stay till 9:09, she said that was his problem and on him for being late and that he needed to go. He said he could work 10 more minutes to get his 8hrs and she proceded to tell him he was wrong....totally unprofessional, totally out of line and not what you would want representing your store. I proceeded to bud in and tell her he was right and she ignored me. Im not a union fan, but I tell you what, if I was him Id have my rep hot on her for a hostile work environment. If she talks to one employee like that, its her style. I would rate the store highly but after hearing her demean this man, and then go back a second time to remind him of the time, I am not sure Ill shop there again. Makes me feel for the people working hard to make the store shine, while the corporate folks take the $$ and the glory and have poor interpersonal skills. The man was respectful but anyone could tell he was bothered. I cannot imagine working in that environment. Please let Joy read this and please make her take some leadership training, conflict resolution, employee relations and workplace harassment coursework.....shes a liability to you now if thats how she treats employees....and she said that she was just passing on what his boss said. The apple doesnt fall far from the tree. Its unfortunate to witness such unprofessionalism. Thanks for your time.

I am from South Asia. If you decide to shop at this store be prepared to be profiled and treated with suspicion. If you look different or have a long last name look out! The lady at the check out counter not only mispronounced my name, mocked me and laughed at it! I didnt see the humor! Also, I was shopping with a small wheeled cart. At the check out counter was told to change it to a large cart or carry my bags out myself as it was the company policy not to allow small wheeled carts outside the building. Apparently, the smaller carts were stolen and all were replaced. Upon close inspection the cart I had was battered, dirty with chipped paint....way more than a few years old, not brand new! Also, on my way out I saw many smaller cart of the same kind in the parking lot! Also, Boulder is an upscale neighborhood, and unlikely for residents to steal carts! Also the person at the check out counter always leaves her spot at the register comes around, checks out your cart to ensure all items are on the counter. For a pricey supermarket, customers are treated with suspicion and disrespect. Not even Walmart or any other grocery stores like Whole Foods treats customers this way! Quality of meat is very poor. If they want good business, they definitely should treat customers with respect....after all it is our money that is keeping their business going! Advice - avoid Safeway boulder Colorado

Most of the staff are rude, every time I shop here (couple times a week) there is a different incident. There are prices that are ringing up differently from what it says on the shelf. There are couple of ladies at Self checkout that are rude, forget about asking them for help. There is one employee named Rodger, he always helps me without question asked. One time one of the "ladies" came to help me, she was so mad because I showed her that the price was different from what was scaning, she was hitting the register so hard that other customers just looked at her. Just looking at them I get sick. Last incident, just today, they have coupons on Perrier sparkling water I was going to buy 4 of them and was peeling off 4 coupons and manager that was close by told me "dont take my coupons if youre not going to purchase the items". After I had 4 coupons I just looked at him and asked him for permission to purchase 4 products. He didnt say anything. So is this how you are going to treat your customers? Time to start shopping at King Soopers.

I used to shop here for quick grocery trips since its a convenient location, but every time I was met with unclear and/or exorbitant pricing. You see one price on the shelf and an entirely different price at the register. If youre in a hurry you have no choice but to pony up. Even when the prices are correct, a lot of staple items are seriously cheaper at convenience stores, which typically have a markup over 100%. Unacceptable. I might as well just go to 7-11. There is usually only one register open, so everyone is forced into self-checkout. Again, for comparison, 7-11, which is maybe 5% of the size of this safeway, often has two registers open. You might try to save some money buying store brand products, but their quality for me has been terrible without exception. The savings are never worth it. Do yourself a favor and go to any other grocery store.

This place is terrible if youre looking for organic or natural foods. I live across the street and can barely even shop here. They have next to nothing in the way of organic produce. I couldnt even find organic blueberries there. The prepared foods department is not vegetarian friendly - at all, and the staff has ignored me every time I have gone in there, even when Im standing directly in front of the counter. The last time I went to the salad bar there was no salad dressing at all. I had to go ask a team member to bring some out, which as expected took about 5 minutes just to get someones attention. Is there no management here whatsoever? Do they not know that they are in Boulder? King Soopers isnt the greatest, but at least they have their finger on the pulse of the city they are operating in to some degree. Safeway is oblivious. Thumbs down.

The food selection has never bothered me at this Safeway, but the Pharmacy is an absolute nightmare. The head pharmacist is perhaps the only competent person working there, the rest of the staff seem totally clueless. I have monthly prescriptions filled at this location, been doing it for years, yet every single time its a complete fiasco. Numerous times Ive asked for a refill to be faxed only to discover 3 days later that my doctors office never received it. Or (my personal favorite) when I call and ask if a prescription is ready and they adamantly say that it isnt. Yet when I call back immediately afterwards and speak to someone different, its magically been ready for 2 days! The pharmacy here is a total joke, save yourself the hassle and use the Walgreens down the street.

Safeway is always an ordeal given the feeble attempt to service the up-scale clientele by offering expensive and exotic products. But when they treat the up-scale clientele like theyre deadbeats or worse, their efforts fail again. Once again, I have been rudely treated by staff at this store even as their mistakes and the faulty self-service check-out machines (why pay people to collect the money when the customers can be "conditioned" to provide the service AND the profit?) wasted my time and caused me undue frustration. I wont be in there again. Whole Foods or Alfalfas here I come. "Corporate Monsters" is too good a term for these pirates and rude privateers! And anybody who will listen will hear about my experiences!
