5/30/13 THE WORLD MARKET OF MY DREAMS This place should be called COST MINUS World Market, because I think they have a lot of awesome items at great prices. In particular, I come here for wine and other adult beverages, and gourmetesque snacks. In addition to food and wine, they have an assortment of household goods. I bought a sake set from here and used it until replacing it with one actually from Japan. Ive also found cute items for presents all year long. They tend to carry a lot of holiday stuff in the winter and their items are representative of many different cultures. Their Cost Plus Explorer rewards program is worth signing up for and you even get coupons in the mail. Their email/newsletter often has $5 off a $20 purchase, and that kind of thing, for good money-saving deals. The Walnut Creek location is easy to navigate with friendly employees. A parking garage backs up to it and the stores back entrance can be accessed through the garage for convenient parking.

Visited the store on a Saturday early evening. The cashier didnt place all of my items in the bag. I immediately called back and was first told to go to the Pleasanton store..without even knowing what the item was or cost. Shortly after, I called back and spoke to the actual cashier who didnt place item in my bag. He insisted that he did and after going back and forth he said he would have manager contact me...have yet heard from anyone. Please keep in mind were talking about $8 max. I wouldnt go thru all this trouble but now its the principal.

I got some world market smoked salmon from my daughter at Christmas, from the icy waters of Alaska. Its smoked then cooked in a pouch. Beautiful package with a great story. Obviously someone at Cost-Plus failed to eat it. Overall poor to fair is being gracious, as what is on the outside has nothing to do with what is on the inside. I grew up on Saginaw Bay. My dad fished for a living. I know what fresh smoked Salmon tastes like and it doesnt taste like this.

So I called asking about product availability. This obviously uneducated woman answers the phone and says "So you know we are closed right?"......First of all, who answers the phone like that? Second, why would you pick up the phone if youre closed? Third, how was I supposed to know you were closed when the other Cost Plus stores were open? If you visit the store, hopefully you wont have to deal with this crass, uneducated clerk.

Went back after a year to get another Cost Plus World Market and they didnt disappoint. Customer service is exceptional. I kept asking to see more rugs until I found the perfect one and they were really patient with me. They worked with my budget, carried the rug to my car, and even gave me half an orange to snack on haha. The owners are super sweet. Never going anywhere else to shop for a Cost Plus World Market.

Even more of an eclectic layout than other locations of this retail chain, but this World Market has a great selection of home goods, knick-knacks and beer/wine - plus it was very clean throughout the store!
