I live close by, and Fisher Lumber is very convenient if you need basic hardware supplies in a pinch, and you dont want to have to drive all the way to Home Depot. They have a great selection of basic materials & tools, a bit more expensive than the bigger chain stores, but they gotta pay their rent! Theyve been in the neighborhood for decades, since downsizing from their much larger location about half a mile away a while ago. The folks that work there are courteous & helpful. Heck, the way Santa Monica is getting gentrified, we should all be going out of our way to support the locally owned businesses, amirite?

I purchased a stud finder from this store. When I got it home, it didnt work and I had to return it. The shop keeper tried to convince me that there was nothing wrong with the item, although he couldnt get it to work either. Since he didnt have any other stud finders (which I found unbelievable in and of itself, considering its a lumber/hardware store), I was finally refunded my money, but not the wasted time I spent going there twice and not getting the article that I needed. Theyre good for getting lumber cut quickly but go somewhere else for your supplies.
